Good Morning, Tumblr!

It’s me, Jay. I am an avid nerdfighter and a not-good-at-staying-active Tumblr user. You may know me from Bluesky (formerly Twitter) (i have three, same users as here but different purposes), Discord (same username as here), or oh god, real life.

This is my main blog, so pretty much everything that’s not about Maladaptive Daydreaming Disorder (see @ismildlypoetic) or is NSFW (see… DM me…), gets thrown over here.

Funny that the stereotypical cynic is an idealist who aged out of it. In my experience, the reverse is true. I was an extreme cynic as a teenager and then I noticed how profoundly limiting it was, and also that "cynics are cool and smart" was a message that was being constantly reinforced by corporate media for some reason.

Honestly to me, cynics are just lazy. You know what the problem is; you complain about it constantly. Why don’t you go do something about it?

Idealism isn’t the naïvety that everything is perfect. It’s the rationalism that things can, and will, get better, if enough of us put the work in and do something about it.

The idea that rural communities wouldn't benefit from public transit of some form is so fucking stupid. There was a guy in my hometown who would hitch hike 15 miles to the grocery store because he was blind that everyone knew and knew to offer rides to if they saw him. You know what else would have fixed this, been more efficient, and helped other disabled people, seniors, and people whose cars got repoed?

A fucking bus.

Also "Yeah but for me the nearest town is an hour away and has 5000 people so there isn't demand for my place in the middle of nowhere" yeah but wouldn't it be nice if there was a bus to that town, so if a friend comes to visit you don't have to pick them up from the airport 4 hours away but they can take a bus to 1 hour away and save you 6 hours? Wouldn't it be great if you had a call-bus that could stop if any of the 100 towns with less than 1k people along and near the local highway but only did so if someone called in for it, as a big collective taxi/uber to the nearest city with a hospital? (or, I realize as I zoom in on a random stretch of North Dakota, a vet clinic which is right of the highway)

Near me there are even places where bus lines don't run by default anymore but you have to call in ahead (which obviously isn't ideal, but sure), but then the bus (or van, or literal normal car, depending on demand for that day) only stops at the actual stops that people called so it can be quite a bit faster by avoiding a bunch of town centers or just hopping between different bus routes instead of forcing you to ride the bus to the end point then take a bus that goes almost directly back.

not to sound preachy but i’ve never seen anybody rebut “make a terf angry” with “make a trans woman feel better” and… that’s kind of tumblr’s attitude towards trans women summed up as concise as possible. more people should strive to be the second thing because the first is performative and lazy… thank u discourser-of-kruphix…

Are not “an angel who lost her wings”.

Unable to accept their bodies.

Are not “butchered”.

Are not being “frivolous”.

Neovaginas are beautiful, real, oftentimes come with few or easily solvable complications, and for some women, are the ideal way to alleviate bottom dysphoria.

I’ve seen a LOT of bottom surgery negativity recently, and I’m trying to comfort myself through it- it takes years of work to get even in the best of circumstances, and every step of the way you have propaganda screaming at you and you want nothing more to hop off the train.
