Lifting her gaze towards Julian, Esther offered him a small smile as she allowed herself to lean into his body. Having him support her weight eased her, especially since she was unsure if she could actually stand on her own. Whatever was wrong with her, seemed to be getting worse with each passing day. The blonde nodded in agreement with her brother and gestured for him to help her to a chair. “You promise to not tell them?” She asked, referring to their parents. The last thing she needed was to cause additional stress on the pair. Taking a deep breath in order to steady herself, Esther decided it was time to tell someone. Julian was her brother, and while the two didn’t know each other well, she trusted him completely. “I feel like I’m dying.” She started, her voice low. “No matter how much I feed I feel as if I haven’t in weeks. It’s like my body isn’t absorbing what it needs to get functioning. I’m not sure what happened, but it’s only been going on for the last couple of weeks.”

Taking note, Julian moved the two of them, getting her to the chair. “Yeah, you can trust me.” Once she was settled down in it he found his own to plop himself down in. Making the promise to not say anything though, happened with the idea of it being something the two could handle together, without getting their parents involved. Hearing the first words out of her mouth after that promise though, made him wonder if he had jumped at it too quick, especially as she elaborated. “So that’s why you look sick right now...because the blood you do take isn’t even helping you out?” He tried thinking of any other time that had happened with one of the many vampires he knew, but it never did. Then he thought about the way he had suddenly started coughing up blood the other day, along with Roxy’s cousin in the hospital. What he had been overlooking and chalking it up to simple explanations was more serious than he thought. “Uh, have you been drinking blood bags or from the vein?”

His parents. His sister. The girl he liked. And the curse had always avoided discussing. It was all that was running through his mind all at once as he threw another punch at focus mitt on the right then again another punch at the left one. He kept it going, letting out all the things he wasn’t saying through every punch but when the other person dropped their hands down to their sides Julian looked at them confused. “What?” Following the guys eye line only to see Marcel approaching them and dismissing his minion. “Did one of them tell you I was here,” he said eyeing the space around them with the couple of vampires pretending to mind their own business. “I was in the middle of a really good session.” @kingcfnola

She nodded her head slowly. “I understand. Completely.” She forced another smile, shifting glances to each of his bright eyes. “I really want to know more about you. Your likes, dislikes. Favorite movie, song. What you like to do for fun. I have so many questions. Of course, only answer and say things you are comfortable with but-” she licked her bottom lip. “I’ll answer any questions or curiosities you may have.”

“Well, I became a paramedic.” He started off figuring that was the best thing to begin with. “I mean it’s my job and most people hate their jobs but,” he shrugged. “I like it a lot, since there’s a lot of, you know, death around here. It’s nice to actually help someone not have that happen to them.” He admitted, trying to let go of the awkward feeling he was carrying. “So..what’s it like, being in the most infamous family?”

“It is and it isn’t.” Hayley shrugged her shoulders. “Even if I didn’t trigger it at sixteen, I would have found out I was adopted anyway and it would have led me here regardless. Only difference being that I wouldn’t have Hope or, you know, any of the Mikaelsons. I mean, I like to think that I would have still been friends with your dad.” It was weird to think about a life without Hope which was one she never wanted. “Marcel’s known me since I was an infant. Another pack attacked my parents’ pack and they didn’t survive. I still don’t know what your father was thinking going into wolf territory, but I’m forever grateful. He scooped me up and got me far out of town. He kept me alive and safe. Wait, did I say that all already? Anyway, point is, I don’t think I ever would have lived out my life normally. I was a good kid, but as a teen, I was terrible. I had an attitude problem especially during full moons. I always knew I was different. I just never understood how different until it was too late.”

“I guess you’re right with that.” He said, thinking about the whole thing. There were a bunch of what ifs that revolved around his life and sometimes he could find himself dozing off, imagining what it would’ve been like if those what ifs were his reality. “You and my dad would probably still be friends. I mean he saved you so I don’t see him throwing that out the window like it was nothing, no matter how you ended up back here. I’m glad it all worked out for you in the end though,” he told her genuinely. “You really turned everything around and you fit in with the Mikaelson’s pretty perfectly.”

“Touche,” she commented playfully with a single headnod. Feeling her heart skip a beat beneath her chest at the subtle smile that ghosted over his lips, she slowly slid her fingers underneath of her thighs to prevent herself from fidgeting too much whenever she felt her nerves growing. At the sound of his objection, she couldn’t help but smile herself as she let out a silent breath of relief. “Oh,” she acknowledged. Slightly taken aback from his abrupt gesture as he rose from his seat, it took her a second longer than necessary to process what was happening as she gradually followed his lead. “Okay, yeah, that sounds–cool,” she forced out, a light chuckle leaving her lips as she did so. Catching onto the last bit of his words, she arched her brows in mock surprise as an impressionable expression made its way across her face. “The restricted area, huh?” she repeated back, feeling the nerves wash away gradually. As nervous as he managed to make her, there were times where she felt like she could easily be herself with him–which contradicted everything she once thought, but teenage love never made any sense to her, anyhow. “Well lead the way, then. I’m excited to see said restricted areas.”

“Yeah.” Julian nodded his head with a bit of a laugh realizing how that sounded once she repeated it. Considering the technicals that came from him feeling any sort of way towards her, he wasn’t exactly sure if he should. Was it wrong or would it be normal since they grew up the same way but he didn’t know if everyone else would see it that way or not. “Well now I hope I didn’t unknowingly make it seem more interesting than it is.” He responded as he started making his way towards the elevator with her. “So what have you been doing? I mean since the party cause apparently I am very bad at talking to a girl after I punch a guy out at a party for her.” He joked pressing the button for the elevator, turning a bit so he could face her more as he waited for one to come up. “But in my defense I have a really good excuse.”

Cousin? She opened her mouth to reciprocate her thought aloud, but shut it closed shortly after slight consideration. She had no idea that Julian was at all related to the Mikaelson family in any way. He was the mayor’s son after all, but this only ignited several other questions regarding who his mother might be. Not wanting to pry, she remained silent as she nodded her head at his words. She couldn’t stop the small smile that spread over her lips at his statement regarding her crying, which only remained short-lived as she frowned at the reminder. “I don’t, you know, usually cry like that,” she added quickly, knitting her brows together at the recollection. “But thank you anyway.” Smiling up at him as she held his gaze, she shifted in her seat so that the side of her cheek pressed against the top of the guest chair. Her eyes traveled all throughout the features of his face as her own expression genuinely softened at his presence. “You don’t have to wait with me,” she assured him, silently regretting the words the moment they left her lips. The last thing she wanted was for him to leave. “I don’t wanna hold you back from whatever you got planned for the day. I’m sure you spend enough time here,” she added jokingly as she propped her head up with her hand as her elbow nestled in between the crease of the seat.

“I don’t usually punch people.” He said in a quick response with a shrug of one his shoulders. “Guess we were just both having an off day.” He added, offering a small smile after thanks to him since it wasn’t something he had been looking to receive. “I actually don’t. Have anything planned or spend too much time here. I mean I make a lot of runs here but don’t stick around for too long.” He told her, in that moment finding it easier to talk about that rather than just saying he was fine with sticking by her. He was far from the nervous type, growing up the way he did, he could make himself comfortable with any situation but something about just talking to her made him feel like he was going to trip over himself. “Want to get some coffee with me then walk around till you can see your cousin?” He asked her pushing himself out of the chair, turning as he stood up so he could still face her. “I’ll even let you walk around restricted areas.”

“I sure do hope it’s stopped.” She said though it sounded like she was speaking to herself. “Julian.” She leaned forward more, locking her gaze with his. “I am- we are doing everything we can. Your uncles… and even some family friends who are going through the same thing- have been searching for answers. I believe we’re on a roll here. We’re going to get to the bottom of this.” She bit her lip nervously. “Julian.” She sighed. “I’m not going to leave you again… ever. I want to be in your life as long as you so want me there… I never want to make you feel anything but happiness…and as much as it would be a punch to my gut… if a life without me is what you want… i’d have to oblige… though it wouldn’t stop me from watching you from afar… as creepy as that may sound.”

As much as he knew he should’ve payed more attention to the curse that could very well swallow him whole, he didn’t. He always tried to live his life as normally someone like him could but of course he didn’t expect her to know that. Really, he had no idea what she did know about his life. “I’m not really worried about what happens to me.” He admitted nonchalantly, trying to move on from his words quickly. “Well I don’t want you to do that,” he responded taking a deep breath before continuing. “I mean I want to know you but it’s just going to take some adjustment, to know I have two parents around and not just one. Start small and work our way to the bigger things.”

She smirked at his words as she shook her head. He could be a mini Marcel at times. “I was a teenage girl whose temper and attitude grew worse during the full moons yet I didn’t know why.” Hayley chuckled softly at that. “It wasn’t until I was a teenager that I realized that I didn’t really resemble my parents. I grew a bit rebellious because of it. Missing curfew, sneaking out, underage drinking, stuff like that. I was 16 and my friends had the brilliant idea to steal a boat. So we stole the boat and went out partying on the water. It was a beautiful summer day and we were having fun. So at one point we’re playing around and I shove one of my friends away. I didn’t realize how close he was to the stairs leading to the bottom deck and he went flying down them head first. His neck snapped and while everyone else ran to check on him, my wolf gene triggered. A few weeks later, the full moon happened and I turned in my living room. My parents freaked and kicked me out of the house. I spent the rest of my teenage years moving from pack to pack and looking for my birth parents.” She shook her head. “It’s just funny how things happen. If I hadn’t triggered, I never would have met your uncle and had Hope.”

Julian had never heard the story about how she had triggered her wolf gene. Really, he had never heard the stories of how any wolf triggered since revisiting that sort of thing seemed like too much of a touchy subject for him to bring up on his own. So he listened, interested to hear all of it, but also with lots of sympathy from the fact that she had to go through all of that and with no one to help her out the way she now helps others. “Well yeah I guess that’s one way of looking at it. I mean you’ve really come along way from when you were sixteen years old and now you stand beside the strongest people in this world but don’t you kind of wonder what it would’ve been like if that didn’t happen? If you had just lived out your life normally. Must be so weird to think about.”

Hayley smiled softly at his words. “Thank you.” She knew that she did the best that she could with Hope. “Oh I see. You got jokes now. Trust me, I know what it was like to be your age and not have anyone to talk to.” The brunette hybrid assured him.

She had always proved to be there when he did need someone with a women’s touch. “If I’m lucky enough, he’ll continue rotting in his own personal Hell, wherever it may be,” he replied coldly, though his hatred of the idea of Finn coming back to this land was the reason for his inhospitable tone of voice rather than Julian’s question. After all, Finn was the bastard who hexed him to an irreversible death, but there was a loophole for him. There always is, and hopefully no one will try to discover one to bring back his eldest, most wretched brother. “I’m here to permanently stay this time, especially in my immortal body. Killing me once again won’t be as easy,” he paused for a split second. “What stories have you heard?”

Julian couldn’t hold Kol’s word against him, he knew just how his last death had gone down. Since he and Davina practically looked at each other as siblings, she had told him all about it. Then there was always of course the versions that came from everyone else and one thing was clear through all of them, Finn was not wanted. “Yeah I’m sure being back in your original body will make it near to impossible.” He pointed out, shrugging at the last question. “Just things here and there. How difficult of a time you gave your brothers. Oh, and my dad.”

Nodding her head at his repetition of her words, her eyes traveled throughout the room before falling back on his moments later. Curving her lips into a smile, she swiveled her body in her chair so that she was fully facing him, silently regretting it once she had done so. Despite her outgoing personality, the youngest Salvatore was quick to fall sheepish when it came to Julian. After their kiss no more than a few days ago, that was all that continued to remain etched in the back of her mind. As much as she wanted to bring up the topic, she couldn’t find it in herself to do so. What was the reason behind the kiss? Did his feelings reciprocate hers? Was it just an impulsive decision? Was it fueled by liquor? This then lead her into the thoughts of the fight that had occurred between Julian and Nathan—a topic she couldn’t manage to keep to herself. “Well, I’d say that you look just as tired as me, but it might just be that bruise that’s throwing me off,” she spoke softly, her face growing slightly solemn. Knitting her brows with concern as her eyes inspected every other place of his facial features, “Are you okay? I know it’s been a few days and of course you’re okay but I mean, you know what I mean, right? And I never—I never got to, you know, thank you…For that. For hitting him. Even though it lead to a fight that I feel really, really guilty about and—,” catching herself before she could ramble on any further, she pursed her lips as she stopped herself short. Drawing a deep breath, “Anyway. The point is that I’m really sorry you got those bruises, but I’m really…Grateful, for what you did.”

“Oh, right..” He nodded, refraining from bringing his hand up to feel out the bruise once again like he had been doing in the mirror before making his way into the hospital. “Probably is just the bruise.” He told her although he wasn’t sure if he had just lied or not. Mentally, everything seemed to be draining him he just didn’t know if that was showing or not. “You don’t have to thank me.” He quickly said to her, shaking his head and waving it off. “The guy seems like a dick, it was either going to be me or some other guy defending someone else. I mean normally I wouldn’t have acted so impulsively at my cousins party but,” he shrugged trying to make sense through words over why he did do what he did. “A lot of stuff going on at once apparently isn’t the best way to handle things.” He spoke sarcastically but his statement wasn’t. “And I’m not a fan of the fact that he made you cry, seemed like the right thing to do. Plus I’m alright, these things heal.” He said, talking about the bruises.

Today is Just Today [Julian + Alyssa]

It felt as if the cell was closing in on her as the room spinned around in rapidly. Person by person, everyone in the room vanished until it was just her and a hallucination of Wes Maxfield, the last member of the society that broke her. “Leave me alone!” she screamed as the figure approached her. At first, the sound of his voice was blurred out by her unconscious for she tried to concentrate on herself in hopes of easing the effect her ailment had on her. Brick by brick, the image of what she wanted to put in the past faded away as she was carried away to a couch. Mentally taking note of the place, Alyssa decided that she would never come to this room again to avoid the trauma she just experienced because anything would be better than her undead heart pounding so hard it felt like it was going to burst out of her chest at any given moment. Slowly, she took deep breaths to steady her heart rate in order to at least hear what he was trying to say. After all, it looked like he knew what he was doing, unlike her. “How did I–” she cut herself off for right as she stopped herself, she was able to recall the answer to her own question about how she ended up on the couch. Plus, that was the least of her worries. “Thanks,” she whispered quietly as she took note of the emptiness of the room. Alyssa glanced over to the entrance, where her group of friends waited with worried looks on their faces, and then she looked back at Julian. “I’d rather them stay away for a bit,” she replied before she looked back over to the entrance to direct a weak smile to her friends. Although her heart beat and breath weren’t normal per say, both were slowing down at a gradual pace. Precariously taking slow movements, she reached over to grab the bottle of water to take a few small sips. “What happened to me?” she asked, no longer aware of what her mind was doing.

Julian nodded his head when she thanked him. Of course it was natural for him to run and help someone but as he watched her try to pull herself together he wondered what was going on in that head of hers. Glancing over his shoulders at her friends once she had answered them, with her own smile towards him and his wave of gesture for them to move along they slowly disappeared out of their eye view. “Um..” Turning his head to look back at her he moved over to one of the other chairs he made sure it wasn’t one too close to her, still not wanting to crowd her in any way. Taking a seat he leaned forward, resting his elbows on his legs for support. “Pretty sure you just had a panic attack. Well, no, I’m definitely sure you had a panic attack.” He told her, his eyes staying on her as he spoke. “I’m guessing you either really hated the crowd or maybe something else happened that got you to react but it looks like you’re already getting a handle over it. It’s a pretty overwhelming thing as you can tell,” he gestured towards her. “But you can work through it you’ve just got to keep your breathing under control. Are you from around here? I know a lot of people but you’re a new face.” He said, trying to distract her for the time being.
