julianna: are we just avoiding starch or something
imessage â julianna.
reia: that's the taste
reia: or how i imagine it'll be
reia: just more water?
julianna: i googled it and it's 2% more to be exact
julianna: so what are we supposed to fry if celery will taste... not great
imessage â julianna.
reia: oh my gosh jules
reia: it's asparagus
julianna: plural asaparagi
julianna: is that the taste or the one we have to fry?
imessage â julianna.
reia: how do you think that would taste?
julianna: somehow soggy and not at the same time
julianna: but soggy isn't a taste so it depends
imessage â julianna.
reia: do you want to do something with me?
reia: replace french fries with celery always
julianna: is that the something we're doing
julianna: replacing fries with celery?
julianna: can we fry the celery?
ofwinifred:
Winifred was the epitome of darkness: owner of a black soul, speaker of indifferent remarks as well as scrutinizer of obscure traits of the people surrounding her person. However, when Julianna kindly approached her, the female didnât feel the urge to succumb to her true essence -, Win smartly saw this moment as an unmistakable opportunity to cease her austerity. Win continued to walk calmly -, pondering about the other girlâs golden heart -, when she heard Julesâ sweet voice, âI certainly enjoy a nice slice of apple pieâŠâ, the girl recognized, a petit smile forming on her pink lips.
deciding where to go was always a bit of a precarious situation when neither party wanted to be certain about one place or unwilling to give an answer when presented with choices, so, julianna was impressed by winifredâs decisiveness, right down to the kind of pie she wanted. Â âoh, i could always go for a classic. apple pie, it is!â she responded, spinning off into more of a âget to know youâ stream of conversation. âi think this place serves theirs with freshly made vanilla ice cream â do you enjoy it like that? is there a place where youâre from that you really enjoyed? where are you from again? or were you just born and raised here?â she smiled, in place of being apologetic about the barrage of questions sheâd unleashed on her.
wthiliana:
pursing her lips out a bit at juliannaâs words, she had to admit that she agreed with her. laughing, iliana followed her roommate over to the shoes and slipped hers on. âyouâve won me over with a snack at the deli - oh! maybe weâll see how long it takes for us to get kicked out,â she joked. throwing her jacket on along with her things in her pockets, she was ready. âiâm warning you now, grocery shopping is probably the least helpful iâm at. when i had to do it by myself, i just had to guess whatever i needed.â she laughed lightly while heading over to the front door.Â
jules laughed, âgetting kicked out of a grocery store? thatâs actually my specialty! ask me why.â not so surprisingly, jules hadnât yet told iliana that anecdote about her childhood. despite hitting it off very well, the two were still getting to know each other. âtwo months and weâve never gone grocery shopping together...? iâm ashamed! but itâs okay because weâre doing it now. i have a list prepared, sort of.â it was more of a list of random items sheâd noticed that her roommates liked to eat and things she wanted herself as well. she opened the door, locking it before she let go of the knob, leaving the rest to her roommate before she walked down to the exit. âso, transportation? are we driving? walking?âÂ
sebbryant:
he was frustrated. clearly, he was irritated, his tone and his facial expression showed it. he wasnât just frustrated with seeing julianna, but because he felt like she was never going to understand. he rambled on and on, with a venomous tone, yet she still seemed to be unaccepting of the truth. seb glared at her after she said the nickname, such an ugly nickname, one he wished would never come out of her mouth again. they werenât friends, not anymore. there were no more funny nicknames between the two, and sebastian had taken the âbff foreverâ with two pink hearts out of juliannaâs contact name ( and maybe he had been close to deleting the contact name all together ). the nights of falling asleep in each otherâs bed after staying up for hours and talking on the phone until 2 am were over. sebastian had moved on, but it upset him to see julianna had not. âwhat the fuck do you think are souls represent, julianna?â sebastian scoffed, âour souls are apart of us. this fucking black, disgusting thing is apart of me, it represents me. maybe i havenât changed, maybe iâve just realized who i am.â sebastian relaxed the angry expression on his face, to instead replace it with a saddened one. âiâm not alone. iâve made new friends. iâve met awesome people. i have a great fucking job. i am fine. youâre the ignorant asshole who canât seem to think i can be happy like this. iâm good. i donât need someone like you, more specifically, i donât need you in my life. not like how i used to need you.â
it became increasingly difficult to maintain her composure; she pulled back, hands disappearing into a knot in her lap under the table. the look in sebastianâs eyes and vitriol laced into his voice made her feel nauseous. it was sickening how he held such a large place in her heart, yet sitting across from him, she could feel how meaningless she was to him. but, the very core of julianna was that she wouldnât let go of anyone â loyal to a fault. she let them carve their places into her, but when they were gone, she was hollow. she always hoped that her heart wasnât finite because she found that people always made their own spaces instead of taking over the empty. no one replaced him, no one could imitate the exact way he was her best friend. at least, that's what it felt like. he was more than just someone to talk to until early morning, whose voice lulled her to sleep during late nights, so, she couldnât comprehend how, however long ago, sebastian decided overnight that theyâd gone from sharing everything to have nothing in common despite the severe circumstances, she just couldnât. âyeah, itâs apart of you, but just one part.â her voice betrayed her, cracking without permission. âit doesnât define you. what youâre like? what you do? thatâs your decision.â she took a deep breath, an attempt to combat the tightening of her throat. âthatâs not what i said. not what i meant. not at all. i want you to be happy and i hope that you are! all i want is to be there for it all.â tears pricked the inner corners of her eyes, provoked by his latest comment. âwhat if i need you?â she stood, âi donât need you in my life. not like how i used to need you.â echoing in her mind as she rushed out of the cafĂ©. she didnât want to cry in front of anyone, but even more so, she didnât want to hear his response. outside, she shrank into a low crouch, back against the wall as she forced herself to calm down.Â
rcia:
âitâs a real concern of mine, that i wonât get a chance to breathe,â reia exaggerated, embellishing julesâ joke with a laugh of her own and a flip of her hair. she wasnât that daft, to dismiss a free compliment. especially when it was coming from julianna, who she was sure she shared the same opinions of with half of seattle. all around attractive, in juliannaâs own words, and an all around good person. âmaybe youâre right,â she nodded, a finger pointing in julesâ direction. âi havenât screamed at anyone. or screamed about anyone. people have been treating me well, i think. hopefully treating us both well, because if not then they owe you a cake. see if they can top that one,â she smiled, nearly glowing from the unsolicited praise. âyouâre too nice,â she spoke, voice teasing, as she accepted the fork from her friend. âeating until my stomach hurts, probably.â
julianna settled back onto her seat and grinned excitedly, âthis is worth any and all of the pain.â she took another forkful of cake, taking the brief window to contemplate bringing up what happened yesterday at the cafĂ©. sheâd already relayed everything concerning sebastian to reia, unsurprising considering that reia was her best friend now. not a replacement for seb, but carving out her own unique place in julesâ heart. âwell, screaming at someone could be a good thing because scenarios, but is screaming about someone really a bad thing? i guess it depends on whatâs said, whoâs around to hear it...â she trailed off, ending with a soft sigh. âi think sebastian owes me a cake.â she shut her eyes almost immediately after saying it out loud because really, she was the one that pushed him. overstepping boundaries was something she direly needed to address. the situation was also embarrassing for her because she was so pathetic. âi saw him at the cafĂ© and i just â â she sighed, âi had to go and talk to him, you know? i canât help it.â
rowanok:
rowan smiled, looking down. the compliment coming from julianna had him feeling almost bashful. âthanks. but i donât even pick out my own outfits. my roommate, summer, is the sole reason any of my colors are coordinated.â he shook his head, laughing at himself. âletâs just not talk about it. how about that weather, huh?â with a grin, rowan watched as she tried the drink. âstrong? you should try a dirty shirley. i think youâd like that. you okay?â he laughed. finishing off his first old fashioned, and waving the bartender down for another. âso how are things with you? besides the burning in your throat from the drink i just made you try.â
âiâll let you in on a secret,â she paused, leaning forward and playfully lifting her hand to shield her mouth from being read by others, âcolor coordination? doesnât even matter! itâs all about being able to pull it off, and you could literally pull off a red and orange hefty bag, ro.â julianna nodded, eyes wide and slight smile stretching her lips. âso strong, but iâll skip the shirley! itâs time i learn to handle the non-fruity drinks, right?" she took another sip, a longer one; the burn was still strong, but it was smoother this time. âthings are good! accepting that iâve graduated college and that my entire future lies in my hands is a hard pill to swallow, but itâs good. i was actually here checking this place out, you know? like as a possible setting for filming? what about you? anything new?â
winifred was an intimidating woman. that much was evident from the start, along with the fact that julianna hadnât had the same experience with her that other people described. she wasnât quite sure what the reason was, but she was just going to accept that maybe sheâd found a friend in winnie. âso, what do you feel like getting for dessert? thereâs like, gelato... we could share a slice of pie? do you have a favorite?â she asked, turning to glance at her for a moment before bringing her attention back to the sidewalk ahead. @ofwinifred
alright, iâm about to get started on replies, starters in the tags, and imâs â if we havenât plotted and youâd like to plot, like this or just shoot a message! if we have plotted and havenât had the chance to interact, reply to this for a starter? like jst be like âstarter plsâ or just like it if you want to chat about our muses! basically like for a message, reply for a starter.
rowanok:
he shouldâve noticed julianna when he walked in, but the tension of the long day gave him tunnel vision where all he could see was a bar stool and a drink. rowan turned to her and smiled, his demeanor was instantly more relaxed, âhey j, how are you?â he took his drink from the bartender, after handing julianna her old fashioned. âjust came from work, the fancy get up is unfortunately part of the job. iâm working on passing a motion for casual fridays, but government works so slowly.â he took a drink, laughing at his own silly joke.
julianna shifted her body to face rowan, figuring it was better than facing the bar. âiâm great â i was actually about to leave, but i guess i have a reason to stay now.â she smiled, thanking rowan as she took the glass from him. âwell, at least you look great. youâre very sharp.â jules laughed along, catching the humor. âhowâs the internship going? good? if not, you can just pretend i never asked.â she took a sip of the drink â truth be told, she didnât really know what was in an old fashioned, but she was willing to give it a taste â and almost immediately wrinkled her nose, her hand hovering over her mouth as she tried to suppress a cough. âthis is something... new!â she explained, a light flush taking over her cheeks because of course, that was embarrassing.
rcia:
âthat means iâve got zero people to ward off,â she sighed, something more fit for dodging an oncoming car while bicycling than finding that julia was the only one of all her roommates home. âi havenât even done anything good in the past week. why am i running into this luck?â she continued on, finding her way to the kitchen and placing the cake on the countertop. and because she felt so comfortable, the coziest really, she rummaged through until she found a clean fork, taking it over to julia. âhere. no knife. just go for it, then youâve made your mark and they know: the time i found to make it was time spent for you only.â her words were stamped with a smile and nod, sealed as law and strong enough to somehow find home in the air and seep into the pores of the others when they returned home. or something. theyâd know, is all. as soon as they crossed the threshold. âare you missing the outing? am i in the way of roommate bonding?â
julianna laughed, âfor once, right? because youâre just so all around attractive, youâre just always having to shoo them away?â seeing reia walk around the countertop, she figured she was grabbing utensils for the both of them and lifted herself onto a tall stool by the cake. âmaybe youâve sent more positive karmatic energy into the universe than you know and itâs just now getting back to you,â she mused, taking the cover off the cake and practically salivating as she registered the scent. âwait, isnât this a good thing youâve done? like, you coming over in and of itself wouldâve made my day, but with this as well? an absolutely amazing thing.â she laughed again, nodding this time and digging into the cake as instructed. once she finished swallowing, praise spilled through her lips. âthis is sooo good. theyâre going to seethe when they find out they canât have any.â she was kidding about not sharing, of course. ânot at all. iâd rather hang out with you, anyway! arenât you eating, too?â she asked, hopping off the stool and going to look for another fork in consideration of reiaâs wariness of âgerms.â
sebbryant:
âadore me?â sebastian practically snorted at the comment, âthey donât adore me. they tolerate me. they talk to me. stop buttering shit up, shit you donât even know about.â sebastian closed his eyes and leaned his head back for a moment, taking in a deep breath. he knew he was getting angry, irrational frustration that was building up, and he didnât know how to stop. âwe are fucking different!â sebastian snapped again, trying to keep his voice low at the same time to prevent a scene from happening, his eyes going back to juliannaâs. âyou cannot pretend i am not different after what happened. you did not go through what i went through you didnât⊠you didnât do what i did. stop fucking pretending we are so alike, and open up your god damn eyes, julianna.â her full name felt unfamiliar on the tip of his tongue, as âjulesâ was always the name he used to call her. never julianna. âthis changed my life, iâm not like you anymore. i donât get the treatment you do.. the treatment you gold souls have. youâre a smart girl, julianna, so you should be smart to understand this.â
julianna squinted, letting go of her cup and looking down as she brushed the condensation from her palms. it was only an excuse to look away from sebastian; the way he spoke about himself was so pessimistic, hopeless, really. she hated that. a soft sigh in response, she needed to drop that topic. this was about them. she turned her head, smiling at the table closest to theirs, to assure them that everything was under control. âmy eyes are open, seabass.â it actually hurt to hear his voice saying her full name, something reserved for strangers who didnât know to call her something shorter, but she refused to do the same. she resorted to one of her sillier nicknames for him, she hadnât said it in so long, and it almost felt stupid now, but she brushed the feeling off because it wasnât. âso, the color of your soul changed. that doesnât mean that you have to change to match.â she chewed on her cheek, blinking a few times in rapid succession because she physically felt herself getting sadder, not about herself, not just about their fallen friendship, but most of all, about him. âwell, i want to treat you the way iâve always treated you, but you wonât let me. like fine, youâre adamant that youâre completely different now. that doesnât mean that youâre doomed to be alone.â
