Sage laughed, “You just might be,” She teased and then gestured over to her daughter, “Just taking Jasmine to the park. Kim normally does it because I have work so I’m glad I get to on my day off.”
“I may never understand why people reproduce but I’m sure you’re happy to spend the free time with your daughter,” Julian did his best to sympathize with a smile. He wasn’t a total heartless monster. “How about I buy you both ice cream when she’s done playing?” he offered.

“Do people actually have picnics inside? That’d be the first I hear of it,” Julian admitted. “All the good stuff!” he grinned. “I gotta say, I’m hoping it’s coffee. What about you?”

“Julian hey!” Sage said, spotting the other as her and Jasmine entered the park. Perhaps she shouldn’t have drawn attention of her daughter’s uncle but she couldn’t go back now. Jasmine tugged her sleeve, “Go on, sweetheart. Just keep me in sight, okay?” She motioned for her daughter to go play and approached her colleague with a smile, “Can you believe it? I wasn’t expecting a warm day like this for at least a few weeks.”

“A nice day like this has certainly been long overdue,” Julian admitted as he made his way over to Sage. “I like lying around inside, but I like lying around outside in the sun a lot more. Am I a cat? Maybe,” he chuckled. “Do you have plans for the day?”

Nora tried not to chew on her bottom lip too much, she wasn’t the best liar in the world and yet she had managed to keep her deteriorating powers a secret. “You do know a lot of that stuff is classified to muggles like you.” She teased he brother. “But it’s good, things are a little more intense ever since Malum has been showing it’s head again and they’re proving to be more persistent too. But-… things are good. How are things at the academy?”
“Aw c’mon– even for your favorite brother? That hurts,” he pouted. “That checks. I hope they’re not working you too hard over there,” Julian added, giving her a nudge. “Uh they’re good. Not too sure the whole teaching this is for me though. You know I’ve never been good with kids and all,” he shrugged.

“Stupid cell phone apps, unreliable as shit,” he grumbled as the rain seemed to pour out of nowhere. “Looks like I should’ve stayed inside– I knew I should’ve stayed inside,” Julian added, complaining to his brother.

“I didn’t really care about this book that much but since you seem to want it so bad, I only want it more,” Julian replied, clearly amused by the other’s frustration. “Kick my ass? For a book? I didn’t know people still cared about reading so much. Ever thought of buying a Kindle or a subscription to Audible?”

“Oh shit, I totally misread that didn’t I?” Sage said and handed it back, “I haven’t drunk it yet, I can get my own,” She smiled apologetically, “Sorry,” She sighed, I can’t do that. What if one of them deserves an A?”
“No– no it’s fine. I need to learn to be a better person anyways,” Julian sighed, never having been good at thinking of others before himself. Even when it came to little things like getting someone coffee. “And this is why teaching sucks so bad sometimes. It requires so much more thinking and effort than I every really expected. How do you do it? The long hours and everything?”

“Essays,” Sage replied, “I’m contemplating finishing them another time but I was hoping to hand them back before the next one was due,” She took the coffee with a smile, “Have I ever told you that you’re my guardian angel, Julian?” She asked.
“That wasn’t for–” he stopped himself with a heavy sigh as she took the coffee from him, “Yeah sure,” Julian shrugged, moping about the fact that he’d have to track back to the staff room for another coffee. “Why don’t you just give ‘em all C minuses and be done with it?”

“Hey Kim, would you mind just staying an extra hour? I need to get these papers graded … Yeah, of course. Thank you so much. See you soon,” Sage hung up the phone and looked back at the papers in front of her. This was definitely not one of the things she liked about her job. She looked up only when she heard someone at the door, “Oh hey, can I help you with something?”
“The staff room fridge is out of milk so I hope you like black coffee,” Julian replied, hanging by the doorframe and snacking on a bagel. “Jeez that’s a lot of paperwork,” he added eyeing the stack on Sage’s desk. “Tests to grade or something?”
“So how’s everything going on in the hero world?” Julian asked, walking alongside his sister. “I feel like I don’t ask you about that stuff enough.”

“I’ve literally kind of got my hands full right now,” Julian told his brother as he lugged another box over. “Can you make this quick?”

But it’s not like I go on Sunday’s purposely to feed them.” She told him, being serious despite knowing the fact that the elder man was teasing her. “Sure- I will take that until I have to rush you to the hospital to have your stomach pumped.”
“I figured as soon as I said it,” he admitted without another laugh. “Have you not already done every single one on the internet? I thought that was how you passed the time,” Julian teased. “I mean you’re not the only one. Little old ladies have been doing it for years. I’m sure some bread is okay, but bird seed sounds like a better bet,” he replied. “Do you sincerely think it would get that bad from this? That’s a little dramatic, huh sis?”
