She smiled, “Mind if I ask what you’re reading? It sounds like no fun.” She smiled, “Yasmin. Nice to meet you Juliet.”
“Oh, of course.” Julie took off their reading glasses, placed a bookmark on their last read page, then closed the book so she could read the title along with them. “Federal Rules of Civil Procedure, yes, it’s as boring as it sounds.” They joked softly, “likewise Yasmin. Where exactly do you work that got you so tired?” The brunette asked in curiousness.
Ellis laughed again and scratched Baby’s ear gently. “Oh, he likes it well enough here, it’s just that he’s more of a wanderer. He’s a photographer, so he likes to travel. There’s only so much to take photos of here after a while, y’know? He likes to visit new places. But I’d rather have him here paying half my rent than sleeping on my couch and eating my food when he visits. This way, he’s benefiting me rather than costing me.”
Juliet nodded in understanding, if there was one thing they understood, it was the need to travel far and beyond. They wished they could have the freedom to just go to any place their hearts desired and enjoy the liberty of being alone and away from their parents. “A traveling photographer, that’s got to be a kick-ass job.” They replied before laughing at his words. “That’s a reasonable explanation for wanting him around. Maybe you can chain him to the bed or something.” Juliet added in a joking manner. “Are you a photographer as well?”
Tallulah: Oh, absolutely. I swear the day that your parents stop treating you like a toddler we are all going to die.
Tallulah: I haven't got the slightest idea. Well, it's been trying to fall apart for a while but I have been too lazy to replace it. But it's my work phone, so time is money.
Juliet: It'll be the apocalypse. The end of the world as we know it.
Juliet: Oh shit, well in that case I'll just sneak out now. There's 99.99% the dicks won't even check my room. Cue the James Bond music.
“Baby,” he answered, tugging her back towards them so that the woman could pet her. Ellis laughed at her words and shrugged. “I never had one growing up, but I figured now’s as good a time as any to get one. Best friend’s in town and he’s a sucker for dogs, and I’ve been tryin’ to convince him to stay, so… this is my strategy.”
They kept petting the pet, “I like your philosophy. I can’t wait to get my own place and basically get so much pets, it’s considered a shelter. Like Leslie Knope from Parks and Rec.” Juliet added recalling the episode where the character adopted a bunch of animals. “It’s a damn good one, if I were him I’d stay because this face is irresistible.” They straightened up after a minute and placed their hands on their hips. “Why does he want to do? Does he not like Santorini?” The brunette asked not helping themselves, what was not to like?
Rowan looked over at them confused, before hesitantly putting her money back in her bra. In her world, money spoke the loudest. Anything and everything could be accomplished with the right price, but she wasn’t quite sure what she could offer. She’d find a way, though. “ –How does undying gratitude sound? Does that seem like the perfect reward for a hard day’s work…Okay, in all seriousness, what’s your vice? What do you want right now? I could probably get it?”
They almost chuckled at the confusion that spread to her expression, it seemed the female was not used to people denying her money. They kept smoking their cigarette as they pondered her words and thought of a good reward for moving her stuff. After a while they shrugged, “how about a friendly neighbor? My parents are sort of...well, let’s just say they’re strict and making friends in this place is getting harder by the minute.” Throwing the cigarette to the ground they later added, “I help you move stuff and in return you give me some good hearted company?”
“Oh, that’s nice. Wait, am I disturbing you? I should let you get back to reading…”
The brunette gave the other a small smile while they shook their head. “No, not at all. I need a break from this anyway. Too many laws and the words are starting to bleed together.” They joked while they rubbed their eyes underneath their reading glasses. “I’m Juliet by the way.”
“Well, she won’t hurt you. She’s just a bit playful, that’s all. Won’t break the skin or anything,” Ellis responded with a chuckle, tugging on Baby’s leash as she wandered away from him. “She’s a good girl.”
“Oh, so it’s that kind of biting.” They said in a playful tone before bending at the waist to pet the pretty pet. “What’s her name? She’s so adorable, I always wanted one but my parents are dicks.”
