This reminds me of Augustine’s explanations possible relationships between the soul and the body. Does the soul work in conjunction with the body like a team of horses–equal parties in determining what the person does, are they like a horse and rider with the soul reigning in the body and determining where it goes, or are they like a candle in the lantern, the body providing a container for the soul while the soul provides the body’s reason for being.
