12/30/2022 - Atomic Habits
The Prophet (ﷺ) was asked, "What deeds are loved most by Allah?" He said, "The most regular constant deeds even though they may be few." He added, 'Don't take upon yourselves, except the deeds which are within your ability." (Bukhari)
Regular, constant deeds are really just good habits. As we look ahead to the new year, let's not just focus on setting big goals but also on the small habits that make up the system that will get us there. Let's fall in love with the process, knowing that Allah's pleasure is in the consistency of good habits rather than just in the achievement of milestones. Allah notices the effort we put in. Allah loves it when we try.
"All big things come from small beginnings. The seed of every habit is a single, tiny decision. But as that decision is repeated, a habit sprouts and grows stronger. Roots entrench themselves and branches grow. The task of breaking a bad habit is like uprooting a powerful oak within us. And the task of building a good habit is like cultivating a delicate flower one day at a time." -James Clear, Atomic Habits
"So whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it. And whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it." -Surah Az-Zalzala, 6-8
