Fun at Mori Point today.
Two-timer. Taking the exact same photo several hours apart. Lighting makes and changes the image.
Alcatraz Island. An island misnamed on a map. Originally called "That Rock in the Bay," a cartographer misplaced the name from another island: "Pelican Island" (English translation of the Spanish word). This is a photo story of isolation and decay, and of ghosts past and rays of light. Enjoy.
Self-portrait assignment for photography class. Objective: use different types of lighting to express/evoke different moods/emotions.
May 2, 2014. She kept saying, "Don't wait. Don't wait." Don't wait to do what you love. She had done so many different jobs that she enjoyed and never regretted any of them. A conversation on BART with a fellow passenger. I had recently resigned my job to pursue photography and was still in the OMGWTF phase of the process. Excited but mostly scared. I am immensely grateful to so many people including complete strangers such as this lady who have been so kind, supportive, and inspiring when I share my story.
This is what I call a happy accident. I was walking around the Mission and as I was crossing the street I heard some women screaming from inside the restaurant. I saw them flee their corner table as a poor pigeon flapped around. I picked up my camera and started shooting from my hips. I wasn't looking through my viewfinder--I didn't have time. I wanted to get the shots and had something in my left hand. I got lucky and got these shots. Right time, right place.
Shots in and around BART in the East Bay. Waiting, boarding, riding.
Meet Rick James and his humans. He's an American Bull Dog, if I recall correctly. I met him and his folks on my way home earlier this year.
Photos from a few months ago. The light was just so. Taken on my little but mighty point and shoot Canon S90.
More pup action in SF. Seen at the Yes on G rally in the Mission a few weeks ago.
Pups of SF. I <3 pups of all shapes, sizes, and ages. Until I have my own, I love volunteering at the SPCA and photographing them.
Waiting for the bus at Balboa Park BART station.
Dolores Park is great for people watching. Including at night if you can see them. LED hoola hoops help. Photos were taken without tripod at 1/2 to 1 second shutter speeds, 3.5 aperture, 50 mm lens, 3200 ISO.
Installing lights at Whiz Burger in San Francisco. I love taking photos of people at work and documenting processes.
There's always something interesting to shoot when I walk outside. I saw these guys from across the street and finally caught up to them when they stopped at a corner market.
These are pix from last Wednesday morning and represent an ideal slow morning at home. Pretty much none of this happened today!
