BIO
james porter was born into a life of privilege & high expectations. his father, professor archimedes q. porter, was a renowned anthropologist with a deep fascination for the mysteries of the natural world. his mother, margaret, brought warmth & creativity to their home, filling james’ childhood with stories, art & music. unfortunately, margaret passed away when james was just ten years old, leaving him & his father to navigate their grief in vastly different ways.
archimedes buried himself in his academic pursuits, dedicating his life to uncovering the secrets of humanity’s past. james, meanwhile, grew up caught between his father’s intellectual world & the lingering influence of his mother’s passion for beauty & wonder. though he admired archimedes’ brilliance, james felt increasingly stifled by the expectations placed upon him.
as a young man, james threw himself into academia, following in his father’s footsteps to study anthropology & biology. he excelled in his studies, but his heart longed for something more than lectures & laboratories. his curiosity about the world extended far beyond books; he craved adventure & the chance to experience the untamed beauty of nature firsthand.
when his father invited him to join an expedition to africa in search of gorillas, james saw it as a rare opportunity to step out of his comfort zone. the journey promised excitement & discovery & james was eager to see the wonders his father had so often described.
once they arrived in the jungle, james was overwhelmed by its sheer vibrancy. the dense canopy, the symphony of unfamiliar sounds & the sense of life surrounding him were both exhilarating & intimidating. though james had always thought of himself as adventurous, the reality of the jungle—its dangers & unpredictability—left him feeling out of his depth.
a few days after arrival, while sketching a little baboon, james wandered too far from camp while his father & their protector clayton kept on going. after an argument with the baboon, its parents intervene & threaten james. he ran, but the monkeys were faster & catching up quick, but a figure leapt down from the trees, moving with incredible agility, lifted him up & swung them both to safety.
once they were safe from angry baboons, he got his first good look at the man. james was too frightened to fully process what he was seeing. tarzan’s movements were animalistic, his posture & expression unreadable. but as moments passed, james’ innate curiosity began to take over. who was this man? how had he come to live in such a way?
though their first meeting went far from smooth, tarzan proved to be both intelligent & gentle. slowly, he began to bridge the gap between their worlds. james, in turn, began to learn the rhythms of the jungle. tarzan introduced him to a life james had never imagined—one where every sense was heightened, every moment alive with the pulse of nature.
through tarzan, james also discovered the gorillas his father had been searching for, though most of his newly acquired knowledge came from tarzan himself - he refused to introduce them to the gorillas unfortunately. but james’ awe grew regardless as he realized how much he had underestimated the complexity of their society & the connection tarzan shared with them.
days were spent together & james found himself developing feelings for tarzan without really knowing that said feelings even meant. tarzan’s wildness & beauty stirred something within james that he had never experienced before. but their time was cut short; not only would the ship that planned to take them home arrive soon, but they also had a liar in their mids.
the expedition’s guide & protector , clayton, revealed his true intentions. he sought to capture & exploit the gorillas for profit, endangering the delicate balance of tarzan’s world. when the betrayal unfolded, james faced a pivotal moment: would he remain a passive observer, or would he fight to protect the creatures & the life he had come to cherish?
with tarzan’s guidance, james stepped into the fray, using his intellect & resourcefulness to help tarzan putting a stop clayton’s plans. in the process, he discovered a strength & courage within himself that he had never known.
when the expedition was seemingly over, the ship ready & waiting for him & his father to board, james found himself at a crossroads. the life awaiting him back in england felt distant & hollow compared to the vibrancy of the jungle. though it meant leaving behind the world he had always known, james chose to stay. for tarzan. he had found a sense of belonging & purpose among the trees, a life where he could honor both his father’s legacy of discovery & his mother’s love for beauty & wonder—and where he could build a future with tarzan & much to his surprise, his father chose to stay with him.
