A rare moment of complete insanity together with my brothers :-)
Harvey Nichols announces the 'Beauty Bazaar'
Premium London store, Harvey Nichols is launching its first Beauty-only store called Beauty Bazaar, Harvey Nichols. Located in Liverpool’s One Shopping centre, it is set to span over an impressive three floors of 22,000 square feet of retail space.
Scheduled to open late Autumn 2012, Beauty Bazaar, Harvey Nichols will be the UK’s one – stop destination housing a wealth of premium products, brands and services in the trademark luxurious setting.
Aside from a Beauty Personal shopper service and a Champagne cocktail bar, there will be a diverse selection of products, treatments and services all there under one roof. Beauty Director, Daniela Rinaldi commented on the Beauty Bazaar concept; “Globally, this will be the first time international and premium brands will be housed within such a luxurious environment, anchored by a fabulous Champagne and Cocktail Bar, to ensure that Beauty Bazaar is an experience like no other. This new direction in retail will return beauty to the luxury proposition that the category once enjoyed; a feel-good experience that will deliver the very best collection of prestigious, niche and exclusive brands and services.”
Described to become a ‘Global beacon of Beauty’, this one-of-a-kind retail space will be sure to inspire and attract beauty fanatics from across the globe. There have been many Beauty halls and Beauty stores but when has there really been a single space where you can be pampered from head-to-toe? We might have found our saviour.

Matthew Williamson x Mat Collishaw; 'Lepiszoulo'
Collishaws photographic prints of crushed insects is here embellished by Williamson with delicate panels of beading and gems in a contoured relief. Lepiszoulo is an invented word from the Greek root, Lepis meaning flake or scale - which refers to both the scales of the butterfly wing and to the individual sequins that adorn it.
Paul Smith x Charming Baker; 'Triumph in the face of Absurdity'
Unfortunately no image for this as I couldn't catch it! A polished aluminium bicycle cast from a racing model is raised upright on its front wheel. Smith's passion for cycle racing provided the subject for this collaboration. Baker's input was the use of a tiny mouse, bearing the gleaming bike like an Atlas on his shoulders. This quirky touch brings the scale of things back to reality with a touch of humour.
Jonathan Saunders x Jess Flood - Paddock; 'Life'
Sharing a background in screen printing, Saunders and Flood - Paddock's collaboration evolved over several experiments. One of Saunders' jumpers casually thrown onto the plate, produced an interesting variety of shapes for the screens. Generating 200 prints in unusual colours, they are hung on perspex rods much like a rail of garments.
Peter Pilotto x Christopher de Vos x Francis Upritchard; 'Arch'
Upritchard found the inspiration for her figure in an old Yoga handbook and her piece arches effortlessly. After sculpting it, Pilotto and de Vos designed an embellished body suit and fitted cap in one of their own fabrics. Funnily enough, it looks a lot like a glitzy gymnast!
Nicholas Kirkwood x Simon Periton; 'Dissecting Waltz'
Kirkwood and Periton's chandelier composed of different elements, play with the notions of positive and negative space. Suspended from three steel rings are dozens of cast resin scalpels and dismembered shoe parts, which enact the making or unmaking of the shoe itself.
Mary Katrantzou x Mark Titchner; 'Tint the pallid landscape (off to the wars in lace)'
The common ground between Katrantzou and Titchner is that they both work with vivid and densely layered digital imagery. Mary's elaborate prints create a scrolling landscape where words by Titchner, based on a list of Olympic and Paralympics qualities loom over it. If colour and pattern are your thing, you'll love this.
Stephen Jones x Cerith Wyn Evans; 'Celestial Bonnet'
Jones and Wyn Evans' created a piece reminiscent of the five Olympic rings, of five glowing rings of tiny LEDs that orbit around a central head band. The interactive work is suspended over a low podium where the visitor can experience 'wearing' the hovering piece. Fun touch!
Giles Deacon x Jeremy Deller; 'Untitled'
Inspired by a stained glass window by William Morris, Deacon and Deller created a full body running suit complete flowing train. They even added the drama of a leather staff and a headdress of leaves and feathers.
Hussein Chalayan x Gavin Tur; 'Four Minute Mile'
An audio track produced by John Monkman is inspired by the famous land speed record broken by Roger Bannister. It begins with the pounding of feet, sounds of breathing and is overlaid with lyrics from an interview between Chalayan and Turk. Quite abstract but cool!
I was lucky enough to attend the Press Preview of Britain Creates: Fashion and Art Collusion! Although its small, some of the biggest names in Fashion collaborated with Artists to create their own masterpieces. All inspired by the Olympics, they had their own interpretations and ideas.

RCA MA SHOW: LILY KAMPER
Last week, I managed to catch the last day of the RCA MA Show after the other half suggested I should go. In particular, he wanted me to see the work of Lily Kamper. Rightfully so, because I LOVE it! I loved the shapes, colours, prints, style, everything!
She hand-prints soft leathers with organic yet geometric shapes and perspex detailing. Inspired by temple structures, her perspex pieces are sharp and structural with dip-dye colouring. Using the same shapes, she uses them to inlay into her oversize clutches and as zip pulls. The collection oozes contemporary and is so easy to coordinate with the muted palette and bright detailing.
I managed to talk to Lily and she's lovely! That's where I found out about all her pieces, inspiration and future plans. Hoping to refine her making and gain more experience, she's hoping to launch fully. So watch this space to see more of Lily Kamper's bold creations!
