Hi I wanted to ask some questions a couple days back but my Wifi kinda sucked so if you're getting this twice I'm sorry.
How does HideAway operate? Are they like canon Nightcord or something different?
How come Ichika is the unit rep of IGNITE when your oshi is Akito?
Do any of the units have in-universe leaders? (think Honami and Tsukasa in original PJSK)
Aside from IGNITE, are there any other units where each member has designated roles?
no worries!! the first one came through, i've just been pondering over hideaway the whole weekend….
(stares wistfully out at the setting sun) Ah, HideAway... So, my current feelings are that they would not stay faceless and eventually make it back to a live setting on account of Nene and Haruka. They would start out kinda like 25ji, just not as structured, pressed for deadlines, or nocturnal (as much as nene could probably do it, haruka and toya wouldn't allow Not Sleeping Properly LMAO). A thought I had with Honami was that it'd be fun to lean into her fears with her art and have her be HideAway's MV artist. They're my abstract/experimental unit, so having that continue through Honami's art and her fears of expression might be interesting. I was looking back at some stories and Honami was the one to initially make (or at least offer to make) LN's MVs, not it's not that far fetched. Haruka feels right for lyricist and eventual producer, and composer Toya is obvious. With Toya, I think back to how in canon, he said he would've chosen any genre in rebellion as long as his dad disapproved. Canon was street, here it's rock initally, but I feel DTM would also piss his dad off too ("digital music is not real music", etc, etc.). Toya doesn't fully quit music here when he breaks off from Akito and their band, just goes back to doing it alone, this time digitally, before he meets the girls. Nene as lead, or at the very least most prominent, vocalist makes sense for her dream of being a singer once she also overcomes her fear.
Ichika is IGNITE's rep (not actual leader) bc the story works better through her point of view. I love my boi, but Akito is much too stubborn and distrusting to seek out others after his previous band's fall out. Kanade is too focused on composing to look for people, and Kohane needs a push to see that she wants to and can play in a band. Ichika's whole thing is wanting what the others need (people to make music with), enough to be the one to reach out to them and bring them together. Also kinda touched on this here with why she was switched to bass. Akito's the one where you'd THINK he's the leader of the band, but nope, that's the tiny, frail pile of white hair at the back. he's more like the eye candy for the fangirls at the front-- /shot
Jumping off of Kanade being IGNITE's actual leader, I answered this one here!
They do! Some aren't as fixed as others. For PashoPARA, I like to imagine Minori and Tsuasa focusing on choreo/performance, Mizuki on costuming, and Saki handling music with Tsukasa (until they potentially get a songwriter like Hasegawa for MMJ). NEOGura's a little more nebulous. Airi along with An would do their choreo, Ena art direction/visuals, and An helps Shiho with their music. They all pitch in on lyrics. Shizuku does FantaYori's costuming, Emu on set/light/sound design with Rui, and Rui's obviously director. Mafuyu eventually becomes their scriptwriter proper. And HideAway I touched on above!
