I’ve noticed a LOT of new followers the last few months, which I’m assuming is bc of inflation and covid. So, first off, welcome! We are here for you ☺️ Second, the most important thing you need to know abt lîftīng is how much trouble u can get in if u get caught. You need to sit down and have a heart to heart with yourself— can you or someone close to you afford bail? What are some of the realities of jail and/or prison? Are you comfortable accepting those consequences? This is not meant to discourage you. It is meant to make you pause.

It’s very easy to go thru a bunch of lïftîng blogs and get heart eyes. Two weeks worth of groceries?? For FREE?? Yup. But that kind of skill didn’t happen overnight. And it’s not without risk. Thinking u can jump into this without doing an enormous amount of research is a fool’s errand and almost guarantees u will get caught.

SO, some things to consider: what do you want/need the most? Where is the easiest place to get it from? What techniques do u need to pull it off? Which ones are u most comfortable with? Where can you practice that is low-risk? What are the exact laws and penalties in your state? VERY importantly, what are cops allowed to do/ask? Biggest advice: tell them NOTHING.

Be smart, be safe, don’t risk it if there’s a safer way or if you get a bad feeling. Trust your gut 💛

SERIOUSLY Y'ALL.

-DON’T Wear hats or hoodies inside of a store. The people that watch cams will automatically start watching you. -DON’T just go into a store and start slinging stuff into your bag and walk out. I know this sounds stupid, but I’ve seen people do it while working at TJ Maxx. -DON’T leave wrappers and boxing laying around in your blind spot. Eventually, workers will start monitoring and a camera will be placed there if it’s done too often. Plus, it’s a bigger mess for the minimum wage employees to clean up. -DON’T go to a dressing room that isn’t monitored with 4 items and only come out with 1 or none. It’s sloppy and can get you caught. -DON’T hit the same store often. Once a week with big department stores, once every 2-3 weeks for smaller stores. -DON’T pick up items to get without even looking at the price tag and don’t wander aisles looking for a blind spot. If you’re looking for a blind spot, act like you’re looking at stuff on the shelves/racks while doing it. -DON’T walk in the other direction when you see a sales associate. They’ll know that somethings up. I came across a lot of lifters (and never reported it bc I didn’t give a fuck). They always avoided me and I later caught a glimpse of them concealing items. Just don’t do that. Smile and keep doing what you’re doing or ask them a question about what they have on sell, etc. -DON’T go lifting in your pajamas or looking like a “bum”. You’ll stand out.

Just be safe and don’t ever get sloppy, no matter how easy it was the previous times. Keep the safe parts of the newbie mentality; caution and a plan.

not to pick on op’s advice but i wouldn’t go to ANY store more than once every two weeks. if you can rotate to go to a store maybe once a month it would be much better. the more they see you the more of a chance they have of recognizing you and picking up your patterns

tbh when those masterposts of stores come up i generally scroll right past. you can read all the tips you want about a store’s lp, their policies, whether cams exist & are monitored, but at the end of the day u just don’t know.

ive seen so many posts that say that b&bw doesnt have cams so its a ffa, but all of mine do! im also fairly certain that one of the sephoras in my city has unmonitored cams, but nobody should take that to mean that all sephoras are like that. my vs doesn’t count (tho ive heard of ones that do) but they sporadically tag panties so i can’t just grab a handful and leave like some posts would have u believe

dont believe a tumblr post about whether a store has cams, what their chase policy is (because sa can and have ignored company policy! you are not safe!) or basically anything tbh. you need to do your own fieldwork.

obviously there are some things that generally hold true—like dont fuck w kohls or macys, icing/claires is super easy, etc. but ultimately? u can’t rely on masterposts. please please please scope things for yourself
