I thought, yay, I could do with one of those. I didn't want to buy it from temu or shein, those companies can piss off.
So, I reverse image searched and thought I had found the original artist (Turns out she's not) and ordered it from her. She's on etsy.
I won't name her, but she's in the uk so it arrived pretty fast.
I should have known things were going to be wrong with it when I opened the box. It wasn't wrapped in bubble wrap or the non plastic equivalent, it was wrapped in a sheet of newspaper. Newspaper is fine but this was a page from the Mail on Sunday. Really?
The wrapped item was then taped to the inside of the box with packing tape.
No instructions in the box, a little thank you sticker on the newspaper and that was it.
I thought, ok, I'm not an idiot, this thing should be easy to assemble. 🤨
It should be, if the parts had been cut correctly and were the right size.
You've seen what it should look like in the above photo.
Here's what it actually looks like.
That piece on the left is too large by half an inch on one side and the top.
Also, it was cut wrong so I had to flip it and have the pattern on the inside.
You can clearly see it's not a cube.
I tried contacting the seller.
Gave it 24 hours then left a one star review. I was angry and assumed it had been dropshipped.
One week later she replies to my review saying she's tried contacting me.
Ok, I check my etsy msgs. Nothing there apart from 2 conversations I've had with other sellers where I had questions. Checked emails. Nada. Tried to email her via the etsy email. Cannot contact her.
I think she's unaware that her inbound and outbound msgs aren't bloody working but regardless of all that, her reply to my review puts the blame on me, saying I assembled it wrong.
Really? You wanna blame me for the fact you didn't do a quick quality control of your product before sending it out?
I'm so tempted to post it back to her, say fuck it to the money and ask HER to assemble it on film but she would probably just sell it on because I don't think she gives a shit.
Rule one when making a cube. All the sides need to be the same size.
Clearly you can see it's wrong.
I'm never buying from etsy ever again.
Can't trust the system. Etsy hides all msgs so you can only correspond via the review page and I was in no mood to leave anything but 1 star.
So yeah, I'm pissed off. I paid £28 for something that I could so easily have bought from Amazon for £5 but I was trying to be supportive of the artists because I am also an artist.
