Some of you may know I've been struggling with anxiety quite a lot these past few months, and it's been so debilitating I rarely leave the house. Because of this I've put on weight, and the only people I see every week are my fiance and counsellor, and maybe once a month if I'm lucky I'll see a friend. I have frequent panic attacks and it's all very exhausting, and I wouldn't wish this on anyone. HOWEVER! Now I'm doing something about it, and I'm very scared, nervous, and excited to be taking the first big step I need to get better. I've been prescribed anxiety and depression medication (Sertraline, if you're interested) and I've never experienced people around me taking this medication nor have I ever done anything like this myself. I'm scared in case it makes me worse (it WILL make it worse in the beginning), nervous because it might not work, but excited to be on the path to healing and getting my life together 🖤 if anyone else is going through this please don't hesitate to get in touch. I'm not licensed in any way, simply offering friendly banter and to exchange experiences with this. It's going to take around 4 weeks for it to properly help me and up until then I'm going to struggle a lot... but I hope it'll really help. There's a lot of stigma around anxiety/depression medication and all I have to say on that is it works for some people, doesn't for others, and this is me trialling it for myself. If it doesn't work for me, I'll try something else, but if you're really in a bad place and may be considering medication, don't listen to other people who tell you not to do it.
