I mean seriously if it wasn't for memorisleep and just being like "This art looks cool and this thing looks interesting" I wouldn't be a Yume Nikki fan or a Mad Rat Dead fan or a PMMM fan just off the top of my head and those are some of my absolute favorite things I've played / watched. If it wasn't for their art I wouldn't have had my eyes opened to how possible good art is to make for someone who I could estimate was probably in my own age bracket. Their art has had a massive influence on my own style and motivated me to get into drawing / art period. Beyond that there are innumerable things that their works have motivated me to do or in some way inspired me that have affected my life for years. Again I don't want to be parasocial and pretend that, as a person, I had a strong connection to memorisleep when I had at most been a long time follower (that had purposefully not followed their personal blog for the sake of avoiding parasociality with an artist I admire) but the works they've made have just meant so much to me I couldn't put it in words. Seeing so many of them gone for basically good only to exist in small pockets on any given persons blog, possibly to never be stumbled onto again hurts more than any overly long speeches I could make about it. As much as I want to respect their wishes to probably just remain in complete obscurity after this, I just want to say for one last time that I could never really have the words to describe quite how meaningful it all was to me.

#As one sidenote : I use memorisleep a lot instead of any of their more recent usernames as it's the one I have the easiest time remembering #And I don't remember any of the more recent ones as somebody who has always had issues with remembering details #I also take the most recent name they'd use as a direct attempt to obscure searching for example

#I'm genuinely so heartbroken that memorisleep deactivated #I'm not going to pretend I was anything more than a follower and fan of theirs but everything they made really did mean so much to me #That might be a selfish sentiment but becoming a touhou fan and seeing a lot of their work early on and genuinely how impressive it all was #Solidified it as some of my favorite works I've seen even to now and are basically synonymous with my vision of the series #I don't think there really are enough words to describe how often I've thought of their various works and how they've impacted me #I think that they might not have wanted this shared *ever* again - even among the many works they deleted by deactivating #I'm pretty sure this is one of the earlier ones they just did delete anyways if memory serves as a long time follower #But this especially means a lot to me. I've thought a lot about it since I reblogged it even #I just don't want to never get to see this again as selfish as that sounds. I was searching for an old post and randomly stumbled onto this #And a bunch of other posts from them I reblogged and I just remembered how much it meant to me #I'm not saying this to be parasocial or pretend I had some unique connection to them or a more important connection than anyone else #I'm not a more meaningful person than any of the doubtless thousands of fans they had for their incredible works #I'll try to be respectful otherwise and not spread the other works Incase that was their wish and I debated reblogging at all #Considering I'd rather just not touch this blog as I dropped it during one of the worst times of my life #But I just can't let something that meant this much to me die in obscurity #Even as just one fan I can't put into words the effects their art had on me.#I hope wherever memorisleep / rosie is that they're okay in spite of whatever led them to deactivating

While the butterfly might not actually appear in any of the songs, I believe that in terms of the story within the art it might represent the "Mortal" side of Adachi Rei. In Greek Mythology, butterflies represent the soul, (and this may also allude to Psyche and her story.)

Butterflies are also notably very fragile and delicate, possibly representing that volatile mortality within Rei. To note, the butterfly is also a glitching and wavering hologram, or illusion, reflecting the mechanical aspect within it, while Rei still reaches out to grab it, entranced, disregarding whether that means the butterfly could be considered "real" or "fake".

I believe the main art also represents the duality between these two aspects of Rei. Within her "Mortal" appearing face, the blue butterfly alluding to that aspect while covered in the same orange as her mechanical eye. But within that mechanical eye, the very same blue surrounds her pupil. In either side of her, her mechanical nature reflects her mortality, and her mortality is connected to her mechanical self.

This same blue is also shown in the robes that Rei comes to wear, showing a possible acceptance and pride of the humanity within herself.
