Howl’s Moving Castle (2005) dir. Hayao Miyazaki
Does it ever shake your entire being how last year, you and your friends were on the verge of reaching your dreams; the tears and the laughs you share were what makes you move on - but today, you barely see and talk to them?
We took the bar exams this year, and we all passed. But just as we start our professional careers, we also start to fall out.
The group chat that once pinged every seconds would remain silent for weeks. There are few to none dms of whining and invites of carpools and dining out.
I can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard. The once everyday ache of my stomach due to the silliness of youth is as mythical now as the unicorns.
I know they don’t hold my happiness; they aren’t bound to me. But I just miss them.
We grow now professionally, but it feels like we are now just bystanders looking at each other’s lives through social media.
Midnights, the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life, will be out October 21. Meet me at midnight.

About a year and half ago I wrote a song about an incredible story, the story of a girl who always lived on the outside, looking in. Figuratively and literally. The juxtaposition of her loneliness and independence. Her longing and her stillness. Her curiosity and fear, all tangled up. Her persisting gentleness… and the world’s betrayal of it. I wrote this one alone in the middle of the night and then Aaron Dessner and I meticulously worked on a sound that we felt would be authentic to the moment in time when this story takes place. I made a wish that one day you would hear it. ‘Carolina’ is out now 🥺

the crushing guilt of being unproductive vs the exhaustion of being burned out. fight.
repeat after me:
even if i don’t like my body today i will take care of it
even if i don’t like myself today i will still be patient and kind with myself
even if i do not love myself i will still take care of and be kind to myself, despite not wanting to
you know what’s one good thing abt Supreme Court postponing the Bar this November?
i can cry to 10 mins All Too Well without any repercussions.
also, if you tell me that taylor has something to do with the Bar Exams postponement so we besties can enjoy Red this November, I’ll believe you.
