Pietro’s character has several layers of fatherhood that make me feel like I’m gonna lose my mind and one of my favourites among them is the generational idol worship of Django-Pietro-Luna.
Pietro WORSHIPS Django, he adores his father and talks about him like he hung the sun in the sky. When Pietro recounts the hardships of his childhood he often talks about the heavy burdens and sacrifices his parents made for them, of which include their father often going long periods overworking to provide for his family and being unable to spend personal time with them as a result. Whenever the subject of Django’s theft is broached Pietro is (rightfully) extremely defensive, he’s always been incredibly understanding of the oppressive circumstances that forced Django to make hard choices for his children. All in all Django is almost mythical to Pietro and he’s filled with so much love, awe and understanding for his father in spite of everything, or perhaps because of everything.
Luna’s perception of Pietro mirrors this almost exactly. She’s so extremely empathetic and understanding to the struggles Pietro endures in Atilian and throughout his lifetime, even if it results in him struggling to parent her half the time (he’s such an Immigrant ParentTM). She forgives everything and doesn’t blame him for his absence, his mistakes or anything from the mind control he was often subjected to, especially the mind control since she literally saw what the virus maximus planted was doing to him by virtue of her powers and the pain it caused him. This is why Luna becoming an empath feels so fitting she really inherited her father’s pain, it’s so Daughter of Immigrant Parent of her.
But it’s precisely because of this romanticised idol worship of her father that Luna becomes so upset with him when he publicly lies. She paints Pietro as this noble tortured hero that the idea of him doing something dishonourable that would disillusion this breaks her heart. The reunion between the two after Pietro confesses the truth feels all that more heartwarming you can feel her adoration overwhelm her again <3.
