Not much context was given for this post. But I want to talk about my AU Daini for a little bit. Why does he look so... out of it?
I must warn that this post is quite deep & may not be very suitable for everyone. It discusses Daini slowly becoming more & more destroyed (mentally & physically) before recovery eventually happens. I just want to get my AU out their, & to not sugar coat what happens.
Well we should start at the end of Season 1! Ah yes, the big reveal. Namagem runs away from his family, & finds a cave which he settles in. Then, the time between S1 and S2. He pick-pockets money off people so he can afford E-Tanks & continue to properly function. He also stalks Aki, he has nothing else to do except continue to train.
His life is quite boring. He discovered the fact he had a Mini like his brother, but he was damaged & unable to speak. Eventually, the yellow Mini found a way to connect his mind to Namagem's. They could talk without opening their mouths. The yellow child had some sort of company now, it was comforting. It was the little one's idea for his boss's name to be Daini - both of them didn't understand the meaning.
Then S2. Night escaped prison. Daini couldn't sleep properly anymore. He was so scared. Mini comforted him, it made him feel less alone. One day, while adventuring deeper into the cave, he found this yellow gem. It had a strange shape, but also it didn't look fully natural. & Daini just kept it with him. Until, he watched his brothers battle with a robot master. & Aki used his own (blue) crystal to power up by replicating it!
Daini attempted it, his armour changed slightly & from there things just got worse for him. He battled his brother a lot, even winning sometimes!! But after defeats, he continued to train. Any fear had left him. His brain was foggy & couldn't think straight, he depended on that crystal. Memories became blurs, recent & old were so smudged. Fights, training, human interactions.
Of course, Aki with his power crystal thing realised the damage they caused halfway through the season because he had his family. His recovery was a few weeks, the crystals were only for a last resort. During a brotherly fight, Aki got his hands on Daini's crystal & ran away with it, giving it to Dr Light & it was hidden away. Daini was furious, he needed that crystal. He stormed over to the Light house & threatened them. He looked so much worse then what was seen at the big reveal - his eyebags were somehow worse, his teeth looked cracked, his skin looked far more yellow, his pupils were unfocused: shaking, & his armour looked as if no one had taken care of it.
They had to force him into sleep mode. It truly was the only way to get him to stop. They deactivated the armour. His hair was completely dirty & muddy, his clothing was in a similar state. He looked awful. They made him stay with them, and he started to soften up. He started to get better. But he found the crystal again.
As S2 ends, Night is arrested again & fully loses any trust robots gave him. Wily was arrested for working & helping with Night. So as S3 starts, a new villain eventually emerges. But, he makes himself heroic. His name is Double, a knight covered in white & purple. He sometimes helps out Mega Man - only to gain his trust however. Double wanted to get enough trust that the blue bomber would let him into the lab to steal the mega key. Then, robots could truly take over!
Double makes the plans for the Robot Masters, they genuinely trust him since he is a robot, not a human. He is their trustworthy leader. He slowly gets more incoherent as the season goes on. But they can still understand his orders & plans.
Theirs a mysterious robot kid who goes to the silicon central school, shes a detective who figured out the identity of Namagem, but she never had the opportunity to tell Mega Man. During S3 she figures out Double's identity - it's Namagem! Well... Daini! She also figures out Double is evil & is causing the current robot master attacks. This time, she gets to talk to Mega Man and say that Double is evil - but a robot master attacks them before she can finish Daini's name.
S4. Double proclaims himself 'The Leader of the Robotic Revolution', flat out outing himself since he knew the evil secret was out. & Daini becomes more & more crazy with the crystal. It is destroying him. As the season goes on he becomes more incoherent, unable to properly think or remember anything & says their are shadow people & voices that don't exist. His hardware is also slowly failing. It's noted he seems to struggle to walk & certain systems completely start to shut down. The yellow mini gave up on him, & just accepted he was beyond saving. No one could get the crystal off him.
At the end of the season comes the big fight! All robot masters vs the Lights. At the start of S4 Suna becomes Zero for her own safety. So you have Mega Man, Zero & Dr Light vs the evil. The good guys win! & the horror on Aki's face when he sees not only that his brother is Double, but also the sorry state he's in. Its awful.
Here is a short extract I once wrote from the perspective of Aki:
"It was a Tuesday evening. I had gone fully charged, & with the power of the crystal I was able to defeat the mysterious villain named Double. His armour broke off, it revealed my brother. He was in his armour - the one that looked like mine. But the blow made him too weak, his armour dropped & I saw a robot who didn't seem like my own family.
He looked with big eyes, his pupils unfocused & struggling to keep his eyes on me. His hair was dishevelled, the longness he asked for was all cut back into a short mess but even the length could not hide the bloodstains. He wore torn clothes covered in all sorts of stains. His smile was full of sharp, jagged and yellowing teeth - he must have carved them himself. But also, some were missing & gaps could be seen, painting a horrible picture of what could have happened. His scar seemed bigger than what I remembered, it looked sore as if still healing. But the last time I saw it, it seemed healed."
The blue twin immediately took the yellow crystal off his brother. Daini tried to fight but it seemed only that Double armour could give him strength. He quickly fainted, his body not used to not having the crystal. Dr Light had to repair him for days, so many things had gone wrong. His son's mind was the one thing he could do nothing about.
In the time the repairs took, the crystal's effect on Daini's mind wore off mostly. When he awoke however, he was not back to being that angry, vengeful child. He was quiet, refusing to talk & his face showed nothing. The crystal destroyed who he was. Recovery takes time. Years maybe.
He accepts help eventually. He slowly gets better. By the time he is an adult, he's a new & better bot! He regained the anger issues, but has learnt to regulate them. He's more open with his feelings. He feels loved.
Why does the sun feel so personal...
