October Horror Fest, Day 31: The Dark Tapes
[IMDb]
This is basically a superior version of V/H/S...but it’s still a version of V/H/S. I mean, it’s very well done, but...yeah.

October Horror Fest, Day 31: The Dark Tapes
[IMDb]
This is basically a superior version of V/H/S...but it’s still a version of V/H/S. I mean, it’s very well done, but...yeah.
October Horror Fest, Day 30: The Legend Of Six Fingers
[IMDb]
This movie is both terrible and amazing. Like, it’s VERY low-budget, but it’s also goddamn hilarious.
Oh, hey, I completely forgot to post the last two days.
October Horror Fest, Day 29: The Jokesters
[IMDb]
I think this movie was trying to be the edgy April Fool’s Day. The operative word there is “trying”. Also, the ending was...really bad.
October Horror Fest, Day 28: Basement
[IMDb]
This is not the best movie out there (nor is it the worst), but it featured one of the most absolutely unsettling moments I’ve witnessed in a horror movie.
October Horror Fest, Day 27: The Speak
[IMDb]
You have to REALLY know what you’re doing to film a movie in one continuous take, because it’s really easy to lose momentum (and your audience’s interest) with a formula like that, which is exactly what this movie did.
October Horror Fest, Day 26: The 5th Kind
[IMDb]
This movie is a mess from beginning to end. There is one good jump scare, and that’s about the best thing I have to say about it.
October Horror Fest, Day 25: There’s Something In The Pilliga
[IMDb]
This is supposed to be comedy horror, but I think something is lost in translation. STILL, it’s not half bad.
October Horror Fest, Day 24: The Purging Hour
[IMDb]
I get ambiguity. It’s what makes a lot of horror movie no only work, but work well. However, there’s such a thing as too much, and this movie found that line. It still created a pretty effectively creepy atmosphere, though, so I’ll give it that much.
October Horror Fest, Day 23: Followed
[IMDb]
This is one of those ones that really could’ve been great, but it somehow fell short. It’s a great idea, but the execution of it made it seem forced. Still, good twist.
October Horror Fest, Day 22: Sunshine Girl and the Hunt for Black Eyed Kids
[IMDb]
This is one of those movies that asks you to suspend your disbelief and pretend anyone would possibly be as dumb as these kids were.
I 100% watched this because it’s shot in Portland, by the way. At least I got some amusement out of that.
October Horror Fest, Day 21: Frazier Park Recut
[IMDb]
This isn’t really a terrible movie, per se, I just really didn’t like it. It’s like the B-movie version of Creep, which is another one I really didn’t like.
October Horror Fest, Day 20: The Alienators
[IMDb]
I’m equal parts amused and mortified by this movie.
October Horror Fest, Day 19: Savageland
[IMDb]
I actually really liked this one. It’s kind of slow, but it’s a great concept, and very well executed. It makes up for the slowness with just a general sense of creepiness. I could’ve done without the little bonus video at the end, but it still worked, even with that.
October Horror Fest, Day 18: The KAOS Brief
[IMDb]
It’s not the greatest one I’ve ever seen, but I actually really liked this one. I liked the social media angle. I deducted points for the wasted drone potential, though.
October Horror Fest, Day 17: Chupacabra Territory
[IMDb]
This is just a really “blah” movie all around. There was a lot of potential, but they really dropped the ball. Also, like, half of it didn’t even make sense, to be honest.
October Horror Fest, Day 16: Ghostfinders
[IMDb]
This is just laughably bad, but, like, emphasis on “laughably”, so at least I was entertained.
