Do not tell me that
your English teacher wouldn’t
leave class to go cry in the
teacher’s lounge after hearing
the news because you were his
favourite student.
Do not tell me that
your mother wouldn’t
spend an hour staring at the
mirror in the morning with
trembling lips wondering how
to start the day.
Do not tell me that
your group of friends wouldn’t
stare blankly at the gym walls
as your Principal announced
to the school that you are
dead.
Do not tell me that
your father wouldn’t
constantly wonder why he
