Half the country is on fire or in drought and half is underwater. What other proof do climate change deniers need to understand climate change is real and here?
okay, so it’s storming. and im 22 years old and still afraid of thunderstorms.
BUT if you’re like me and still afraid of thunder, i have a neat old trick! idk if this is something that everyone knows, but it helps me.
what gives me anxiety is not knowing when the thunder will boom. and if im not expecting it and it’s just like BOOM and the next thing ya know, im in the basement hiding under blankets.
SO something my dad taught me when i was really little was when lightning flashes, start counting to five. there is usually five seconds between lighting and the following thunder. this helps me because then i know the thunder will come soon, and im ready for a potential boom. it doesn’t scare me as much when it happens and then i can breathe easy.
for some reason this was life changing to me when i was a kid, and the counting is subconscious at this point. my brain just starts doing it when i see lightning, and now thunder is a lot easier for me to handle.
so there’s my amazing tip for those who don’t like thunderstorms lol.
i know there are a lot of people who love thunderstorms, and to that i say i love that for you. please teach me your ways. if you like thunderstorms, what do you love about them? are they relaxing? romantic? dreamy? i wanna know!!

After a long wait there was finally a severe weather setup somewhat close to home. I raced south to the highest risk area only to see storms develop closer on an outflow boundary north of me. I was setup, but a little too close, when this supercell crossed the river.
so pretty <33
Thunder is good, thunder is impressive; but it is lightning that does the work.
