I hate asking this but I’m a huge fan of your plans go astray series on AO3 and was wondering if you will ever go back to it? Don’t get me wrong I’m loving all the your current projects you’re working on but those works hold such a special place in my heart and I’d love to know how you all were planning on finishing it. Totally get it if that’s not on the cards anymore but I wanted you to know how much I loved the series you Velgamidragon and TP-HOND_S124 created together :)
Hey! So sorry it took so long to get back to you on this! My phone completely offed itself a little while back so it's been a *fun* time getting everything re-download and logged into and then caught up on
The next part of the series is actually in the works and has been for a while, there have just been a lot of other pieces going at once and big non-fanfic projects too, but the hope is to get to it sooner rather than later! Thank you for the support, and I'm so happy you like the series so much 🥰
Thinking about Sarah Hawkins right now because wdym she married a spacer and had a kid, only for him to leave her. Do you think it was vowed that he'd always return? Do you think he promised that even with being a spacer, he'd always protect her?
Do you think she had to beg him to stay on Montressor and find more stable, safe work when she was pregnant with Jim?
Was the inn a labor of love, or a labor of necessity? Did she have to open it after Leland left just to sustain herself and Jim?
According to the official art book, Leland and Sarah moved to Montressor when the mines were more prosperous cuz he was looking to strike it rich. Well, that didn't work out and he wasn't cut out to be a dad and when he left, Sarah converted their home into a bed and breakfast inn to make a living (I hope this answered some of your questions 😁)

Bri is Silver's daughter and half ursid and half gerudo. I engjoyed thinking about her desigh details and i love soooo much their siblings relationships, my my
In all her almost eighteen years of life, Kate had always had her best friend, Maria Hawkins, to turn to for anything and everything. Maria and her mother, Sarah, had been permanent fixtures in the Blake family estate since before she could consciously remember. Kate and Maria did everything together; school, torment their governess, give their parents and caretakers heart attacks with their combined antics, and grew up practically like sisters.
Everything changed a little over ten months ago; Maria transitioned to ‘Jim’.
Everyone had been overwhelmingly supportive, Kate included – even though she had secretly mourned the loss of her best friend for a few months. It didn’t take her long though to realize that Jim was no different than Maria had been.
In fact, Jim was better. He was so much happier now, and it was so obvious that Kate often wondered how she had managed to miss just how sad and distant he’d been before his transition.
Kate couldn’t even count how many times she’d been caught off-guard and then her breath had been stolen by how unabashedly him he was. Jim laughed more, suggested more mischief, stood prouder, more confidently, danced, and just seemed so comfortable with who he was. It made her heart flutter every time she looked at him.
At first, Kate had thought that she was just feeding off his happiness. They were still virtually siblings and once she’d realized that her closest friend hadn’t disappeared but was instead who they were always meant to be, she’d been so proud to get to see him come into himself.
But ten months later, Kate was confident now that her emotions leaned more towards love. More specifically, towards romantic attraction.
And that terrified her.
Jim was incredible. He was so sweet and caring, so she wasn’t worried that he would be a bad partner. What scared her was how confessing her feelings to him could have terrible consequences. She’d seen how both girls and boys in their school had approached him and she knew that at least a few of them had either not taken his transition seriously and thought he was simply going through a ‘phase’, and others had been interested in the so-called ‘novelty’ of being with a transman. She was relieved that he’d turned everyone down, so none of them could hurt him with the betrayal of having bad intentions. She was relieved too, because she wanted to be with him. But she also didn’t want him to believe that she was only attracted to him because he was a man now. And she didn’t want him to think that she had those same ill intentions and interests in him.
She loved him through and through; his smile, laugh, spirit, his curiosity, his incredible ability to improvise and think on the spot, his new-found confidence. He was so incredible, and Kate fell deeper in love with him every single day.
“–why is it like that instead of this? It’d be more efficient if we changed it.”
Kate’s heart leapt straight into her throat when she heard Jim’s voice as she approached the workshop to put away the laser rifle and flintlock pistol she had taken to practice her marksmanship. It was deeper now that he was getting regular testosterone injections, and hearing him as he’d explained he always felt he should be sent tingles bursting across her skin.
It was with her head tucked down shyly that Kate slipped into Horace’s workshop. The family driver stood with his hands planted on his hips as he watched Jim poking around in the engine of one of the hover carriages. Her eyes skipped over Horace in favor of staring at Jim and a warm smile pulled at her lips.
While she missed his long hair, she couldn’t help but admit his shorter style with its fluffy bangs and buzzed undercut looked amazing on him. She also couldn’t help but admire how well he wore trousers and a button-down shirt. He was quite a handsome young man, and it was no wonder that so many people had begun to approach him recently to pursue him as a romantic partner.
“I suppose they didn’t think of it that way when they were designing it, lad. But that doesn’t stop us from rewiring it ourselves,” Horace said.
His oval ears flicked back just before he turned his head, and the older leonen man smiled. “Hello, Miss. Did your practice go well?”
“It did,” Kate said.
Jim perked up at the sound of her voice and his face broke into a wide smile as he turned to look at her too. “Kate!”
Her heart just about smashed its way through her ribs as it swelled with joy at the sight of Jim’s beaming face turned toward her.
“Hi, Jim,” she said, once again shy. Her face felt hot and she hoped she wasn’t flushed. “What sort of mischief are you up to now?”
Horace chuckled and said, “Redesigning the entire hover carriage’s engine compartment” at the same time that Jim exclaimed, “I’m not getting up to mischief!”
He trotted over to her and took the empty bag of laser cartridges while she opened the cabinet and started carefully putting up the weapons she’d taken earlier. She’d gone shooting to help clear her mind, which it had done, but now standing next to Jim and catching breaths of his scent had her all in an emotional tizzy again.
“So what about you, huh? What mischief are you getting up to?” Jim shot with an adorable half-smirk.
Kate scoffed. “Mischief? Me? I’ll have you know, Mr. Hawkins, that I am a respectable young lady.”
He gaped for half a second before laughing and lunging at her. “A respectable young lady, huh?” he asked as he hooked his arms around her waist and swung her in a circle while she squirmed and giggled. “Then I suppose it wasn’t you that I recall suggesting we skip out on the opening Parliamentary Ball this year in favor of taking a skiff and sailing around the perimeter of Parliament City?”
Jim tickled as he accused her of the very ‘crime’ she had absolutely proposed, and Kate squealed with laughter.
“Oh, come on, you don’t want to go either!” she said when she’d finally managed to twist out of his arms.
It was her turn then to chase him and he leapt over a workbench to try to evade getting tickled, but Kate wasn’t opposed to diving after him when she was wearing her casual attire, and she was able to pin him down and tickle him until they were both breathless and flushed.
Kate helped him sit up and they sat together, latent giggles passing between them, until finally they gained control of themselves.
“I suppose both of you will now request that I don’t share either of your plans with Lady Blake?” Horace asked, his tone betraying his grin, though neither of them could see it when his back was turned.
“Of course, you’ll be helping us with them,” Jim said with a smirk.
Horace snapped around and raised his hands to either side of his head. “Don’t you try to rope me into this, young man! I’ve gotten into enough trouble between both of your antics.”
“What are they getting up to now?”
Kate turned at the voice of Jim’s mother, Sarah Hawkins, and saw that the lovely human woman was now standing in the doorway of the workshop. She wore a smile even as she stood with her hands on her hips and an eyebrow raised in suspicion.
Horace chuckled. “I’ll beg your pardon, ma’am, but I’ve been sworn to secrecy.”
“Oh, have you now?” Sarah asked, grinning wider. “Well, do you mind if I borrow my son for a while and interrupt your scheming? I need his assistance before dinner.”
Jim jumped to his feet, offered his hand to Kate to help her to her feet as well, gave her a quick side hug, then hurried to catch up with his mother. They disappeared through the door, and Kate let out a sigh.
“What’s on your mind, Miss. Kate?”
She waved a hand as if trying to swat away all the thoughts and emotions that had been plaguing her for months now. “Nothing important,” she said.
“Oh? Then why dwell on it for so long?” he asked.
Kate watched as he gathered up his tools and started to hang them on the pegboard. “How do you know I’ve been dwelling on anything?”
He smiled warmly at her. “Miss. Kate, I have known you since you were nothing more than a wee cub. I saw when you first started to reject your mother’s plans to follow in her footsteps until you shared with me your dreams. Now… What’s holding you back from sharing what’s bothering you now?”
Kate worried the hem of her shirt between her fingertips for several moments before saying, “I’m afraid of ruining things.”
Horace set down the wrench he’d been holding and walked over to her. “And what are you so worried about ruining?”
“My… my friendship with Jim,” she admitted in a whisper.
His eyebrows rose dramatically and he guided her over to a set of stools at the bench, where they sat facing each other. “How would you possibly manage that?”
Kate ticked her claws together nervously and squirmed for a moment before saying, “I love him. Romantically.”
“And how would that ruin your friendship?” Horace asked softly.
“What if he thinks that I’m only attracted to him because he’s a man now? What if he thinks that I’m only interested because he’s a transman? I don’t want him to get the wrong idea when I love him for who he is. I don’t want to lose him as a friend because he thinks it’s weird or gross that I have these feelings since we grew up together practically as siblings,” Kate said. Tears filled her eyes and started to roll down her cheeks, and Horace reached up to gently wipe them away.
“Oh, Kate…” he murmured, an understanding smile on his face. “Why do you think he would think any of those things about you?”
Kate bit her lip. “I… I don’t know… I’m just worried he might…”
Horace patted her knee fondly and sat up straight. “Given how long you have known each other, and the fact that you have an incredibly strong base in friendship, I believe that the two of you would have a healthy and strong relationship going forward, regardless of if he reciprocates your romantic love.”
Kate hoped that Horace’s guess would be true. Every day that she went without expressing the depth of her love for Jim felt more and more like she might die.
He stood and smiled at her once again. “Are you feeling any better, Miss?”
“Yeah, I think so,” Kate sighed.
“I’m glad to hear. Now you should probably go prepare for dinner before your mother sends someone looking for you.”
Kate slid off the stool and started toward the door, then quickly changed directions and hugged Horace tightly. He petted her hair and she nuzzled against him like she used to when she was a child and her father was away with the Navy, then scurried toward the door to go to the house and change for dinner.
Thanks for reading so far, the rest is over on my AO3 if you wanna see the ending ;)
It's been a wild year with injuries, moving, job changes, 3 back-to-back funerals, and an upcoming wedding. Even just getting out to the ranch to see my real life horse has been difficult, so I hope you can forgive the art/comic delays <3
But 2026 is looking great! Greenhorn Trail is still in progress, with a chapter 3 update coming very soon. I'm working on volume 2 of the artbook, I'll be at Animation Y'all in April, and there are some other fun surprises in motion :)
Apparently there was an art book for Treasure Planet calked "A Voyage to Discovery", sadly it's not available to buy anymore and copies online go for $2000. There is a sight that does let you read through it, so if you get the chance it's worth checking out.
There is just so much interesting information about the making of the movie, as well as commentary on the characters that you wouldn't know just from face value.
It really is a shame this movie didn't do well when it originally released because there was so much potential for this to be a franchise.
I was one of the lucky ones to snag a copy a couple years back when they were going for ~only~ $300, and I'm always happy to share Treasure Planet canon material when I find it, so if for whatever the site blips out of existence, hit me up and I'll post every single page
#leland leaving behind jim for his own selfish wants and desires #vs silver leaving behind his own selfish wants and desires for jim #i love movies (via chaossmith2)
Technically not(?) canon, but his name is Leland in Treasure Island, so some people in the fandom just refer to him as such in Treasure Planet as well, including myself haha
In the official Treasure Planet art book, Jim's dad's name is Leland, so it IS canon and he most certainly has a name. The art book also describes his and Sarah’s relationship (very briefly) and that they married young and that Leland brought her to Montressor in the hopes of getting rich working at the mines
I would like to find a jacket as close as possible to Jim’s jacket that’s fairly affordable but also a good quality. I am struggling SO MUCH to find one like it, anyone seen any? I don’t mind the grey accents being brown or something like that I just need something similar 😔
It's not an exact replica of Jim’s jacket (you'd probably have to find a leather or faux leather), but this is a wearable and really great option with a similar vibe to Jim’s jacket for about $60 USD that'll last a long time. I've got one and I've had it almost 5 years, washes great and doesn't have any wear or tear despite being my daily winter jacket
In my free time and as rewards for finishing backgrounds for the coming comic page, I've been sketching vibes. The general idea is that he’s a captive of someone who forces him to dance as their entertainment in order to keep a loved one safe. There's no story with these, but I really liked how they turned out, so... here, I guess
