Kelly didn’t reckon her actually harmless questions could lead the girl to the right conclusions. She really was a clever one!
Kelly lifted her hands in a soothing gesture. “Wait, I’m not sure about it. I just heard… rumors. I could be wrong…”
She felt helpless. What could she say to comfort the girl? She was a gardener, that was obvious, and she loved taking care of the beauty of the place. And now, within only a few seconds she had realized this place was very likely going to be destroyed. By her own grandmother!
Kelly felt anger rising. If it would be her daughter…
“If, and only if your grandmother is going to bulldoze this place, you can visit me and care for my garden? Provided you’re allowed to visit me, as I am still a stranger to you. Why don’t you pay me a visit with your parents some time?”
Kelly meant what she said, but she also tried to distract her.
Spontaneously she opened her arms, inviting the girl to hug her, being comforted.
Lucy looked at Kelly, her bottom lip pulled between her teeth. Her grandmother was going to destroy her one safe haven. Impossible. She h a d to stop her at all costs, no matter what. Her fingers stopped brushing against each-other as she shook her head.
"Rumors always become true at some point in life.“
Oh, If Lucy could spill the truth that she knew exactly who Kelly was, to say they were really family, but she couldn’t. She promised to never talk about fairytales with strangers, she didn’t want to get called names again. Though Henry’s book brought her most comfortable, yet, she promised. Now, Kelly’s offer that she could take care of her garden if her’s had gotten destorted Lucy smiled brightly.
"That’s a very lovely offer.” she said smiling.
A distraction, if Lucy was smart enough she would have noticed it, instead, she fell for it. It took all of two seconds for her know that Kelly was offering her a hug. The child dropped her hands and moved over to the redhead and leaned against her, her hands wrapping around her as she softly let the sobs out.
"She cant do this, we have to stop her. Will you help me, please?“
