Brazil’s Indigenous march to pressure court on land ruling
Thousands of Indigenous people marched toward Brazil’s Supreme Court on Wednesday to pressure justices expected to issue a ruling with far-reaching implications for land rights.
Wearing feather headdresses and with their bodies painted, they sang and danced along their 5-kilometer (3-mile) route. The group, which has been camping all week in the capital behind the National Theater, is comprised of some 6,000 people from 173 ethnic groups across the country, according to Association of Brazil’s Indigenous Peoples, a rights group and one of the organizers.
Justices will be evaluating a lower court’s ruling that invalidated a claim by some Indigenous people in Santa Catarina state to what they say is their ancestral territory. The lower court based its decision on allegations the group wasn’t occupying the land in October 1988, when Brazil’s constitution was signed after the nation’s return to democracy, which the group denies.
The Indigenous people were frustrated that the court didn’t start discussing the case Wednesday. The majority of justices have yet to vote on another contentious debate, regarding the constitutionality of the Brazilian central bank’s autonomy.
Protest organizers say the court’s decision could be “the ruling of the century,” because negating the 1988 benchmark would force judges across the country to impose that understanding on similar pending cases, and also affect the fate of a related, controversial bill advancing in Congress.
Farming groups argue the 1988 cutoff date provides certainty regarding property law, but rights defenders say it ignores the fact many Indigenous people had been forcibly expelled from their lands, particularly during the military dictatorship, or may not have formal means to prove possession.

Shikatema fic - Falling for you (again)
Hey everyone! Just post it the new chapter of my new shikatema fic, that is on Ao3!
Name: Falling for you (again)
Summary: After a mission that went wrong, Temari goes into a coma and wakes up two months later without any memory of who she is. Now she has a husband she doesn't know, an eight-year-old son she doesn't remember having and a life she has no memory of. Time is the only thing that can help her recover her memories. But luckily, she has a family more than willing to accompany her every step of the way.

A little part of the new chapter:
“In the first second of stunned confusion upon waking, Temari thought for a second that she was looking in the mirror again. But her body was lying down and her hands were empty, resting under the cover. Then she blinked her lashes hard, finally waking up for real and gasping to understand what she was really seeing.
Because in addition to a woman, a person, a friend, a ninja, a wife, Temari was a mother.
A little boy with eyes like hers stared at her from the edge of the bed, his face level with hers. She could only see until the beginning of his nose, as if the bed was too high and he had to stretch to see it. If, for some time, Temari doubted the story that Sakura and Shikamaru told, she would now be incapable.
There was no doubt that this boy was Shikamaru's son, with his pale skin, thin dark eyebrows and straight hair of the same color, tied in a ponytail. And there was no doubt that he was her son, because the likeness of his eyes was absolutely undeniable.
That familiar tug, that appeared when she first saw Shikamaru, came back, fast and strong, almost ripping her heart out of her chest. Still, no memory came back to her, although she was suddenly feeling almost breathless.
The two stared at each other in silence for a few seconds, while her heart was racing. Her mind ran, trying to think what to say, but no words came. What could be said in such a situation? What could a woman say to her child that she does not remember?
"Hello," was all she was able to whisper, her husky voice scratching her throat.
His eyes filled with tears the next moment.
And in a very agile leap for a child of that size, he threw himself on the bed and hugged her by the neck.
Temari opened her eyes wide, feeling him cry on her shoulder. She rested a hand on the base of his back and stroked it, feeling lost. Watching him collapse hurt her chest, almost as if her heart was shrinking and turning to dust, but she couldn't tell if it was because that was her son and her body somehow remembered it or because the whole situation was just ridiculously sad in general.
"It's going to be okay," she whispered, listening to sniffle as he pulled her closer. It looked like she was saying this to both of them, not just him. "It's gonna be okay".
"Shikadai".
Temari looked back at the door, finding Shikamaru. He was standing at the jamb, his lips pressed in a line as he watched the scene before him. He looked tired and stressed, with his hair in a ponytail with loose strands falling over his face. She wondered if it was difficult for him to sleep as much as it was for her.
"What did we talk about?", Shikamaru murmured softly, approaching the two of them. Shikadai hugged her tighter. "Your mom is going to need space for now."
Your mom. Temari swallowed at the sound of that word.
"Sorry," he whispered, meeting her eyes looking sad. "I explained it to him as best I could, but...".
Temari nodded softly. She understood. As strange as it was to have this little boy hugging her as if he loved her more than anything, she understood. How old had Shikamaru told him he was? Seven? Eight? How would she react at the age of eight when she learned that her own mother did not remember her?
Her brows furrowed. Mother. Did she have a mother? A father? Where were they?
"It's okay," she whispered, meeting Shikamaru's eyes again. He gave her another sad smile and Temari wondered what his real smile should be like.
"They said you hit your head," Shikadai whispered into her shoulder, speaking for the first time. "And it hurt your brain."
She almost laughed. This was a way of putting things.
"Your mother will need some time to get better, Shikadai," Shikamaru murmured, reaching for the bed and touching his son's back. "Let her breathe".”.
I hope you like it!

For Shikatema lovers, I hope you like it! It is a huge job to write and translate everything, since English is not my first language, but it is always worth it in the end.
