Hey guys, I'm hoping to start writing drabbles and things on this Tumblr, and I wanted to know if anyone would read them or give me prompts for them?
I'm planning on writing for various ships, including Merthur, Destiel, Reddie and Stenbrough, but I also like reading Stony, Cherik and other Marvel ships, so I'd be open to writing those if people wanted them.
âBetween the two of us we just kind of looked at each other when we first met, day one, and we talked it out and we agreed that whatever we do, the love has to be real. This is a ten-year relationship in the making. That has to be real. That chemistry, you canât fake that, and that we trust each other.â
For the prompt "I have to get something off my chest." "I hope it's your shirt, please let it be your shirt."
âHey, Eds?â Richie asked, looking up from the same textbook page heâd been staring at for at least 10 minutes. The pair were at Richieâs house, supposedly revising together, but when were things ever that simple with Richie and Eddie?
âFor the last time, donât call me Eds, Richie! And donât interrupt me whilst Iâm trying to study!â It was at this point that Eddie looked towards Richie. âWhich youâre also supposed to be doing. Why arenât you studying Richie?â Eddie sounded quite angry over being called âEdsâ. Strike one that something was off with Eddie; yes he got annoyed by the nickname, but he never got genuinely angry.
âBecause Iâm bored and nothing is going in!â Richie flopped back on the bed.
âThen why donât we take a break? Weâve been at this for hours, already, anyway.â Strike two; he never willingly took a break from studying this close to an exam.
Eddie neatly marked where he was in his textbook, before closing it and pushing it away to the end of the bed. Then he was silent. Strike three.
âEddie, whatâs wrong? Youâre not normally this quiet, or this quick to put down your textbook.â Whilst Richie was looking directly at Eddie, Eddie was looking anywhere but Richie. And if Richie hadnât noticed before, he certainly would have then. He always enjoyed looking into Eddieâs eyes when they were talking.
Another moment of silence passed before Eddie spoke up. âI have something to get off my chest.â
âI hope itâs your shirt, please let it be your shirt.â Richie thought. Or at least, thatâs what he believed heâd done. The look Eddie was giving him made him think otherwise.
âAnd whatâs that, Eds?â Richie responded quickly, trying to move on from what heâd just said.
âI think.â Eddie took a deep breath. âI think I like boys, Richie. And I donât know what to do about it! I mean, Iâm seventeen, I know myself and what I like, but mommy says itâs wrong. That a boy liking a boy is sick! And I know itâs not, and I know a lot of the things she told me werenât true, but itâs still hard to shake all those years, andâŠâ By this point, Eddieâs voice had raised to near a shout, and he could barely get his words out, he was speaking so fast. And Richie knew Eddie wouldnât be able to stop himself from this downwards spiral, so Richie would have to do it for him.
âHey, Eds. Eds, listen to me.â Richie lightly gripped Eddieâs shoulders, to remind Eddie that he wasnât alone if nothing else.
Eddie went quiet once more, although he was still struggling with looking Richie in the eye, not knowing how the other boy would react, to his confession or the rant which followed. Although, he wasnât sure which was worse. Embarrassment and shame crept over him.
âIâm proud of you, Eddie, for telling me.â Eddieâs eyes shot upwards to lock with Richieâs. âAnd I know your mom has said a lot of things over the years, but sheâs wrong. Youâre not sick for liking boys, and you canât help who you like. Alright?â
âAlright. I just feel stupid, you know? You and the losers all seem to have their lives figured out and are confident in themselves, and then thereâs me. Seventeen and barely able to accept I like boys. Bill figured that out over two years ago, and he and Stan have been together for a year. Ben and Bev are happy together, and Mike is just waiting for the right person for him, but heâs okay with that. And then thereâs you.â
âEds, I still hide behind âyour momâ sex jokes despite having come out to you guys nearly three years ago, and I still canât bring myself to come out to my parents. Stan sometimes goes out to birdwatch but ends up at my door in tears because heâs struggling with himself. And Iâm sure if you ask any of the others, their lives wouldnât be as perfect as they seem on the outside. How you feel isnât stupid, okay? Itâs normal. As is discovering your sexuality at seventeen.â And hiding your feelings from your crush for three years.
Eddie didnât know when heâd started crying, but he had. Richieâs words had hit home and made him see things clearer than he had in a while. This was why he loved Richie, but he couldnât admit that just yet. He wasnât ready for that. So instead, he settled for lunging at the boy and wrapping him in a tight hug, as a way of saying thanks.
âYouâre alright, Eds, youâre alright, I promise.â Richie kept whispering reassuring words in Eddieâs ear, having noticed the tears and how choked up he was, and they stayed that way for a while.
So maybe it wasnât everything the pair wanted to say to each other, but it was a start. And for now, that was good enough.

OKAY SO!!! I saw your post for prompts on my dash, and we share several ships (and I am swamped with my own fics atm), so I thought why not send one in :) One of the Stenbrough prompts thatâs been floating around my mind for a while is: âYour shoeâs untied.â âYeah, I know. I just donât know how to tie them.â
[I had some real fun with this prompt, and I'm so glad you sent it to me! I hope you enjoy what I did with it, and how I portrayed the pair. I love them, but man I didn't realise how hard they were to portray! Props to you for writing them. I also did some research into the birds of Maine, which took me a lot longer than it should have, but oh well, they're actually quite interesting! If you have any other prompts floating around that you're too swamped to write, let me know x]
"And over in that tree is a yellow-bellied flycatcher, although you may need my binoculars to see it properly. And over there is a blue jay." Blue jays reminded Stan of Bill.
"Hmm." was all Bill said in response from beside him.
Stan looked over to see if Bill was still paying attention.
He was. Bill could never not pay attention to Stan.Â
"Your shoe's untied." Stan noted.
"Yeah, I know." Bill blushed, feeling embarrassed that he was sixteen and couldn't tie his laces. "I just don't know how to tie them."
"Here let me tie it for you. I wouldn't want you falling for anybody else, now would I?"Â
At this, Bill began to laugh, and Stan soon joined him.
"You've been around Richie too long, he's starting to rub off on you." Bill commented, lightly elbowing his boyfriend in the arm.
"Don't you dare say that! I'm nothing like Richie!" Stan replied, still struggling to get his laughter under control, and knowing Bill was probably right.
"I think you'll find you're more alike than you think."
The pair took a moment to calm down from their laughter.
"But seriously, Bill, how have you never learned to tie your laces?" Stan asked, as he bent down to tie Bill's lace for him, so that he genuinely wouldn't fall over.
"It just wasn't something I ever learned. My parents used to do it for me before GeorgieâŠ" he trailed off, still not wanting to relive that moment, even three years later. Stan looked up at him with a comforting smile. "And since then, I've just tucked my laces in either side of my shoe. They don't usually come out, so I've never tripped on them, and you've never noticed."
Stan went back to forming two bunny ears with the laces of Bill's left shoe, before deciding that he was going to use this as a teaching opportunity to help his boyfriend out.
"Alright, well what if I help you learn and then you can tie your own laces? It's never too late to learn, and it's actually pretty easy once you get the hang of it." Stan proposed, not wanting to make Bill embarrassed again.
Bill blushed anyway. "Only if you don't mind, Stan. I mean, what sixteen year old has to teach his boyfriend how to tie his laces?"
"This one. But it doesn't mean he minds." Stan replied quickly, not wanting to lose Bill into his pit of self-deprecation again. "I'll show you on this shoe, and then you can try on the other one. Alright?"
"Alright." Bill conceded.
"So, you form two bunny ears, one in each hand like this." Stan did so, slowly so Bill could see what he was doing. "And then you wrap the one around the other." Another slow demonstration. "And then you pull through, and pull it tight. Think you got it?"
Bill looked confused for a moment, before answering Stan. "I think so. Let me try."Â
And so he did. Bill bent down, so he was level with Stan, crouching in the park, and followed the instructions as Stan repeated them. By the end, Bill had one perfectly tied shoe and another messy, but tied shoe.
"See, it wasn't so hard, was it?" Stan said as his came back up to standing, offering a hand to Bill to help him up.
"No, it wasn't. Thank you for teaching me." Bill replied, quickly kissing Stan on the cheek. Now it was Stan's turn to blush.
"It's alright."
No more was said as the two began walking again towards their respective homes. The only change was that Bill had intertwined his hand with Stan's as they walked, leaving both boys with a smile on their face.
hello !! can i ask for the prompt âi got you, donât worryâ + merthurđ ? i cant wait to read your first drabbleđ„ș
[Ahhhh my first drabble and my first ask! I've wanted to write for so long, I'm glad I finally decided to start doing it. I'm especially glad that Merthur is my first drabble, and for someone who's writing I enjoy reading myself! I hope you all enjoy reading it, and if you do, feel free to comment or send me a message saying so. And if you have constructive criticism, I'll gladly accept that too, to improve my writing. Also, if you have a prompt you'd love to see, send me an ask and I'll happily write it for you! Anyway, onto the drabble...]
Merlin spent every battle protecting Arthur that he never looked out for himself. He never expected to be the target for any bandit attacks. He'd never been targeted on purpose before, why would that change now?
Only it had changed. Without Merlin realising it, a small group of bandits had broken away from the masses and snuck through the bramble to where Merlin was crouched behind the tree Arthur had instructed him to hide behind. Merlin would have minded, if he hadn't been able to use 'hiding' as a way to accidentally make branches fall and bandits trip.
Before he could even blink, Merlin had been pushed roughly in front of the tree, with a sword thrust against his back and two hands grabbing either wrist, forcing him forwards
"King Arthur. I suggest you and your knights drop your weapons if you don't want your little manservant to get it."
Never had a group of men turned around so fast.
"Ah! That got your attention didn't it!" The bandit to Merlin's left sneered.
"What do you want with us?" Arthur asked, cautious to lower his weapon, but knowing that Merlin's life could be at stake if he didn't.
"Nothing, really. Apart from all the money you have on you." Answered the bandit casually. "Oh, and to tell you that your little manservant is actually a sorcerer."
Merlin instantly lowered his eyes to the ground, not wanting to see how Arthur would react. This is not how he wanted Arthur to find out. He would've much preferred to have told Arthur himself, within Arthur's chambers, where only Arthur could hear and make his judgement in his own time.
"And, since it's illegal, we thought we'd save you the trouble of disposing of your manservant." The bandit continued, since the Knights were too stunned to reply.
Merlin felt the tip of the sword recoil from his back, and he already knew what was going to happen. Oh well. At least it wasn't by Arthur's blade. Although, it would be a shame not to find out how he would have reacted, how he would have felt. Hell, how any of the Knights would have felt.
However, instead of feeling the sword pierce straight through his back, Merlin was thrown sideways by the sword slicing through his right side.
He prepared to hit the ground, but instead was caught by a pair of arms.
And as he fainted, the last thing Merlin heard was "I got you, don't worry."
---
Merlin groaned as he came back into consciousness, instantly feeling the pain in his side.
"Ah, it's nice to have you back with us, my boy." Gaius. So he was back in Camelot, he'd been carried that far at least, and he'd been taken to Gaius for medical treatment.
Slowly, ever so slowly, Merlin tried to sit up, only to be pushed down again by a hand on his shoulder.
"Don't try and sit up, Merlin, even you aren't stupid enough to want to cause yourself more injury."
Merlin froze. It wasn't that he was scared of Arthur, more like he was worried whether or not he believed the bandit. And if he did, whether Arthur would trust him anymore; whether he'd feel betrayed.
Finally, he opened his eyes, only to be met by another pair of bright blue eyes staring directly into his.
"What happened?" Merlin asked, his memory of the moments following his capture fuzzy.
"You were caught by a group of bandits behind the tree I sent you to hide behind. They dragged you forward by holding your wrists and pointing a sword into your back." Arthur helped Merlin into a sitting position.
"So how did I not end up impaled on a sword?"
"Gwaine managed to sneak up behind the bandit and push the bandit from behind you, and Elyan and Percival fought the two holding your wrists. But none of us were quite fast enough, and you still ended up with a sword wound to the side and you passed out!"Â
"Arthur I'm okay." Neither of the pair noticed Gaius leaving the room, clearly sensing this was not a discussion for him to be a part of.
"But you almost weren't," Arthur's voice was rising, "and it would've been my fault! I sent you behind that tree to begin with because I thought you'd be safe!"Â
Not to be out done, Merlin shouted back. "I can look after myself, Arthur!" And there was the elephant in the room. They could both sense it, but neither wanted to ruin what they had by opening up the discussion.
After a long, slightly awkward silence, Arthur began speaking. "So it's true what they said? You're a sorcerer. They saw you doing magic."
"Yes, they saw me doing magic. But I'm not a sorcerer, Arthur."
"What are you on about Merlin? It's like you're speaking in riddles! Just say what you mean!"
Merlin couldn't keep his eye contact with Arthur, knowing this was the turning point in their relationship."I'm not a sorcerer, I'm a warlock. I was born with magic. I promise I was going to tell you, I just wanted it to be on my own terms, not like this. Never like this."Â
"Why?" The one word made Merlin's head shoot up. He wasn't sure what he had been expecting, but it wasn't that.
"Why what?"
"Why hide it from me? Why stay in Camelot for this long? A place that you've seen persecute your kind since the day you arrived!"Â
"Because I love you." Merlin almost whispered.
The door opening startled the two, as they realised they were once again no longer alone. Arthur rose.
"We'll be talking about all of this when you're recovered." Arthur spoke softly, squeezing Merlin's shoulder before making his way towards the door. "But for the record, I love you too."Â
Heya, it's been a while, but I was wondering if you could turn your wonderful writing skills to another prompt for me? Could you do "I...I need to sit down" for Merthur please? Thanks ever so much đ„° x
OF COURSE!! I love getting asksđ„șid literally write anything you want me tođthank you for this, hopefully i'm up to parâit's been a minute since i wrote (like a week lmfao i've been reading a lot)
Merlin looked at Arthur on the throne. He was still amazed how good he looked up there, how much he looked like he belonged. Arthur was glowing in the waning sunlight, giving him an ethereal glow. His hair was ablaze, blending with the crown on his head.
He was breathtaking.Â
Merlin stopped listening to the proceedings in favor of staring at Arthurâs profile for as long as possible. Many commoners came for an audience today, and Merlin was too exhausted to show interest. He has been working since dawn, for both Arthur and Gaius, and the boy was dead on his feet.Â
Arthur did not feel much better. He could feel Merlinâs eyes on him, but instead of getting angry with Merlin, Arthur actually felt content to let him stareâit was making him warm and fuzzy on the inside, but he didnât know why, so he let him be. Knowing he had Merlinâs attention, the king straightened his back and tried to listen back to the farmersâ dispute at hand. He was apparently thinking about Merlinâs eyes on him for longer than he thought since the farmers were staring at him, waiting for his reasoning. Arthur blinked slowly, unsure, but Merlin quickly came to his ear and whispered, âSire, the one on the left killed the right oneâs sheep because it was on his farm unattended and was causing a ruckus.â Arthur nodded his thanks, looking more grateful at Merlin than he had all day, and Merlin blushed at the sudden attention from Arthur and bowed back to his spot behind the king.Â
Arthur started talking, but Merlin couldnât focus on what he was sayingâboth tired and now feeling a little hot. Maybe I need to ask Gaius if Iâm getting sick, Merlin wondered, getting slightly dizzy now.Â
âIs there anyone else?â Arthur looked at Lancelot and Leon. âOne more, my lord,â Leon answered, as Lancelot was occupied with talking to Gwaine and looking at Arthurâs side together. Arthur frowned, why do they look so concerned? Arthur was about to look over to see what they were looking at, but the next citizen came in.
The minute the man came in, Merlin fell to his knees. Gwaine and Lance were by his side in an instant. Arthur looked over to where Merlin fell, jumping up from the throne, wanting to go over and check him himself. His knights were trying to help Merlin stand, so Arthur decided he could get this last audience done fast and go to Merlin after.Â
While stabilizing him, Merlin looked up at the newcomer. He felt nausea rush over him just from looking. âGwaine, Lance,â Merlin groaned out quietly, trying to get them to go to Arthur instead, and once he got their attention he continued, âthat man, something is wrong with that man.â Gwaine and Lance looked perplexed but believed him, so they leaned Merlin against the wall to see what was going on.Â
Arthur just started addressing him, âwhat may I help you with today?â The man bowed lowly, and in a deep voice said, âMy lord, I actually wanted to bring something to you.â Arthur, surprised for a moment, masked his face quickly, âand what would that be?â The man stood up and pulled a small wooden box out of his robes, and he addressed Arthur once more. âMy liege, this is a weapon of great power, but I am the only one able to wield its strength.âÂ
âWhat kind of power?â
âThe power to drown the magic out of people. Out of them where the filth cannot corrupt them for any longer,â he stated, indicating to the small box.
Arthur heard a gasp to his right and quickly looked. Lancelot looked horrified, while Gwaine looked absolutely livid. Merlin, on the other hand, looked like he was withering away on the wall behind them, staring with blank eyes towards the box--almost like he was drawn to it.Â
Arthur was not stupid, or blind. He knew Merlin kept secrets, deadly ones if he kept them from Arthur, so this realization did not quite have the same reaction the old Arthur would have had.
Merlin has magic.Â
Arthur was quiet for a moment longer, thoughtful. Every adventure, every single quest, every day, Merlin was at his side. Whether it was killing a monster, or cleaning his boots, or making his bed, Merlin never laid a hand on him.
Merlin believed in him and that was enough at the end of the day, wasnât it? Arthur already had an inkling about magic not being the all evil power his father lectured him about. He wanted to find Morgana and make amends, so this was the path he needed to take to get her home. Magic couldnât be evil if both Merlin and Morgana had it--they did not choose it either, especially since they both lived under Uther. No one would be foolish enough to use magic willingly with him around. Magic is a gift in the right hands, and a horrible tool in the wrong ones--just like any other tool in this world.
Arthur was about to make history--he could feel it deep within his bones. He could almost hear Destiny singing.
âI am sorry, but I have no need for a weapon like that in my kingdom.â
The man stumbled back, shock written all over his features at the power behind Arthurâs words, âare you not a Pendragon? You would rather magic roam freely in this world than end it once and for all?â
Arthur schooled his face into strength, ignoring his rising temper at the questioning man, âI may be a Pendragon, but I am not my father. I said no. Thank you for coming all this way, you may now take your leave.â
The man bristled at the dismissal, and just as Arthur was turning to Merlin, he drew a throwing knife out and spoke softly, but loud enough for everyone to hear, âif you are not with us against the powers of evil, then I must end this reign for the greater good.â He threw the knife before anyone could react.
It stopped inches from Arthurâs heart, and Arthur looked at it trying to figure out what just happened. The man gasped when the knife turned back towards him and landed in his leg. âMagic!â The man cried out, horrified that such use of blatant power was used on him.Â
Merlin stumbled over to the man, who was now on one knee, and spoke very clearly: âif you ever try to threaten the king again, I will not aim for the leg. Is that understood?â Merlinâs eyes shone like liquid gold. Lancelot and Gwaine, quickly behind Merlin, yelled at the guards to put the man in jail with the box he brought with him.Â
The guards listened, albeit hesitantly, looking towards Arthur for his approval. Arthur simply nodded, still staring at Merlin. Itâs one thing to make the connection, but to see it so clearly use for him, in defense for him? It was astonishing. It felt oddly right if Arthur was being honest. Merlin was one of the bravest men he knew, and his power only amplified this feeling for Arthur. To live your life in constant fear, to feel so alone and scared of who you are, it is a wonder why Merlin stayed by his side for so long.
The second the man walked out, Lancelot and Gwaine went in front of Merlin protectively. Arthur ignored them and walked directly to Merlin, who whispered that he could handle this to his friends who looked reluctant to walk away (so they just moved to either side of Merlin, slightly behind him, just in case).
Arthur came close to Merlin, âhow long?â
âMy whole life,â Merlin responded quietly.Â
Arthur blanched, realizing how long Merlin lived in fear for his own life and from Arthur himself.
âWhy?â
Such a simple question that could allude to many things, but each would have the same reply from Merlin.
âBecause I love you.â
That was it. Arthur took a step back, heart beating fast, seeing how much Merlin meant it. He loved Arthur.Â
Merlin didnât understand why Arthur wasnât killing him, or saying anything, or why Arthur just kept staring at him.
But Merlin couldnât wait for a response, âArthur?â
Arthur was confused at the tone change, so he just said, âyes, Merlin?â
Merlin was delirious at this point, âif you donât plan on putting me on the pyre, I think I might...that I....I need to sit down.â
Merlin passed out.
Lancelot and Gwaine caught him easily, looking at Arthur to see his reaction. Arthur was in motion already, picking Merlin up bridal style, and walking directly past them. With a small smile at his knights he asked, âare you guys coming? Or am I to tell Gaius myself what happened?â Arthur was masking his terror for Merlin by easing his knightsâ concern for how he felt about Merlin, making it clear what side Arthur was on. Lancelot and Gwaine sighed in relief, accompanying Arthur.
Tomorrow was going to be a big day.
Tomorrow, Arthur was going to say I love you back.
Hello!!! Sorry for the late reply, I had to move onto my computer! Hereâs my list of some of my personal favorites! All of these are on AO3, btw.

Stanley totally LOVES sportâą by CrimsonBitch
Stanley knew fate was bullshit. Bill is convinced it's what brought them together. When he tells the story, however, he just tends to skip over the part where Stan was smoking weed and he was defacing school property.

Bill's not sure why he's putting more trust in the annoyed storyboard artist who dresses like a 1920s toddler than he is in the director or the writers. But something about Stanâs level gaze, the Order that seems to exude from his pores, it calms the chaos in his head.

"W-we b-brought y-your n-new r-roommate R-Rich," Bill said smiling.
Richie turned around and seemed to instantly light up at the sight of Eddie, he smiled and did an over the top wave at Eddie, "So is this the famous Eds Mrs. H has been telling us about?" Richie's desk chair was one of the ones that spun, and the lanky boy took full advantage of that- swinging from side to side making the chair creak in an annoying way.
"Don't call me that." Eddie said, slightly confused by the nickname.
"What?" Richie replied
"My names Eddie- not Eds."
"Alright then, Eddie Spaghetti," Richie smirked as he said the name- annoying Eddie. Of course he has to share a room with the most annoying person so far.

Hey, I saw your "I have you, it's okay" Merthur drabble and thought it was incredible and beautifully written â€ïž So could I please request "Please tell me you aren't dead..." + Merthur, thanks xx
THANK YOU SO MUCH IMMA CRYđ„șđthis is so kind, of course you can request that!! id literally write anything anyone asks međ„șthank you so much for the request, i hope i donât let you down!! (im doing canon era again because i live for them, with all the knights alive and such) (i also made merlin say the prompt instead of arthur this time to mix things up)
Merlin was going to kill Arthur...if he wasnât dead already.Â
Last night, the knights, the King and his servant went out to the tavern after sparring to try to enjoy the beautiful new spring weather that had finally arrived in Camelotâinstead of sweating and beating each other relentlessly in the sun, Merlin thought unenthusiastically. This tavern trip, however, was different from the others. Instead of Gwaine leading the charge towards drinking unmercifully, it was surprisingly Arthur this time around. Merlin usually didnât drinkâjust in case King Prat needed saving, but this time he couldnât help himself. He was having a good day: Arthur was being unusually kind and tactile with him, Lancelot complimented his outfit, and Gwen stopped by today to give him his favorite sweet from the kitchens, so having a few drinks with his family would only top off his day. It is a known fact in Camelot that Merlin is a lightweight drinkerâhis abnormally low tolerance for alcohol made every knight howl with laughter, especially when he was hiccuping after drink number three.Â
What drunk Merlin and company didnât realize at the time was how little Arthur was drinking. While Merlin, Gwaine, and Lancelot were on drink number four, Arthur barely touched his first round. Arthur had a reason, of course, for going light today, but he didnât want to let the others realize his lack of drunkenness. He played the part of drunk King, but he had different plans for that night.Â
Earlier that day, a report came in from the south. The writer claimed to have seen a rare creature, one that only existed in the myths and legends, while pleading with the King of Camelot to conquer the beast before it can harm more of his people. Arthur refused to let Merlin read the reportâwhich never happened. Merlin was hurt for a minute, but Arthur soon made it up to him by ordering two plates to be served for lunch (Merlin soon forgot about the paper after that). The reporter was convinced that the creature was a Necat Caritatem. They werenât big creatures, and they didnât look extremely threatening. They havenât been seen in over a century--according to the library, that is. The name loosely translated to âlove kills,â which is precisely what it does. It lures their prey with the scent of what or who they love the most, uses it to capture their victim, to slowly suck the love out of them. There are other stories that if the Necat Caritatem catches you with your love, they delight in witnessing one lover losing their love almost as much as the actual taking of the feeling. Arthur had believed they were all killed off--they were once the greatest threat in the land, and if this letter is to be believed, then his kingdom did face one of its biggest threats of their time.Â
Killing love is killing hope, light, and freedom all at once. The essence of humankind thrives on the existence of this one single idea, hope. Existing in this world, that can cease to be at any moment, is arduous without optimism. Giving a seedling light allows it to thrive, it becomes one with the world, part of something bigger than itself. Refusing this light slowly kills it. Taking away this love, this hope in the world of darkness, is the worst kind of pain. Arthur refused to let Merlin see the report. He knew where that would lead: âMerlin, no, you canât come with meâ âArthur, donât be stupid, of course Iâm coming. Who would protect you?â Every time it was the same conversation, with different threats, but this conversation will not happen today.Â
This was different. This adventure could take Merlin away from Arthur, and he wouldnât let that happen. Merlin was Arthurâs love, his hope, his life. Taking away Merlinâs unconditional love would be like stripping away the sun from the earth. Arthur knew that without Merlinâs love and loyalty, Arthur would amount to nothing. Merlinâs smile helped Arthur get out of bed in the morning and was the last thing he thought about before he closed his eyes. Merlin is too important to Arthur, to his kingdom he helped build. Arthur knew Merlin kept secrets, but he didnât hold it against him. How could he? Arthur understood--he truly did. People keep secrets for a few reasons, but the only one Arthur could give for Merlin would be that Merlinâs secret could hurt those around him and Arthur knew Merlin went to great lengths to avoid hurting those he loved. Some would argue that Merlin kept secrets because Arthur was king, but he knew that wasnât the case. Some things are safer kept to one person, but he hoped that Merlin would truly let him into his heart one day.Â
So, back to the drinking. Merlin was giggling with Gwaineâs attempts at flirting when Arthur tried to make his escape. He was just about to excuse himself when Merlin turned his beautiful, blinding smile onto him, and Arthur had to hold the edge of the table to stop his knees from collapsing underneath him. He holds too much power over me, Arthur thought ruefully with a small returning smile for drunk Merlinâs sake. Merlin stumbled over to Arthur and swung his arm around his shoulders, âWant to retire, sirrree?â Merlin sang to him into his ear. Arthurâs first thought was, how does he understand me so hammered?, then out loud he laughed, âYes Merlin, I do have a kingdom to run tomorrow, but letâs get you to bed before Gwaine gets you to do anything unlawful.â Merlin just smiled at that and bid his goodbyes to the group, stumbling fast on Arthurâs heels. As Merlin was dead on his feet, the minute they were out of sight Arthur picked him up bridal style to move this along faster.Â
Arthur deposited Merlin on the kingâs bed, taking care of him for as long as he could. When Arthur gave Merlin his motherâs sigil, he thought it would represent his love and respect for Merlin, but maybe it would help Merlin rise to be the leader he knew he could be when he is gone. Arthur could think of no one else better to lead his legacy.Â
He quietly asked for a horse to be prepared so he could start his southern quest. In the candle light, Merlin looked to be softly glowing. Arthur tried to remember every detail of his best friend, but he would need to leave soon if he wished to get there by sunrise. At the last minute, he decided to write Merlin a quick note explaining what was happening, with the report underneath it, ending the letter with âYours Always, Arthur.â This was the right thing to do. If Arthur was going to go down, it would be fighting for a future where Merlin exists.Â
Merlin woke up with a raging headache that doubled when he opened his eyes to the blinding light. The only thing he remembers from last night was Arthurâs lovely smile and the third drink. The softness underneath him, though, was a rude awakening. He jumped out of the bed but was immediately too dizzy to have a coherent thought. After putting his head against the cold wood of the bed, he decided he was stable enough to finally look around. The first things that drew his attention were the plate of food, Gaiusâs hangover medicine, and a pile of papers that had his name written on top. Downing the cure, following that up with some bacon, he sat down to read.
Of fucking course he would, Merlin thought angrily, if there is one scratch on his stupid perfect blond head Iâll kill anyone who has ever threatened him. Merlin left the Kingâs room in a flurry of anger, love, and desperation. The servants quickly avoided this version of Merlin, knowing better, while he made his way down to the stables to go himself.Â
The trip was fairly quick, but what Merlin saw when he arrived made his blood run cold. Arthur was surrounded and caked by blood, both silver and red. Merlin halted for a second, letting his heart slow down enough to get the physician in him to address the situation clearly.
 It didnât work.Â
Merlin walked unsteadily to Arthur, his breath coming in harsh puffs. This wasnât the end. This couldnât be the end. They had a kingdom to continue building, they had people to free, but, most importantly, they had their lives ahead of them to learn how to love each other, properly, that is--without one of them trying to die to keep the other alive.Â
"Please tell me you aren't dead..." Merlin whispered when he bent down to Arthurâs body, tears already flowing down his face.Â
Arthurâs breath was shallow but still there. Breathing, even this small, made the hope in Merlinâs chest burst. He could make it.Â
Merlin put his forehead against Arthurâs, put his hands against his heart, and put his entire soul and magic into Arthur. Arthur took a gasping breath and opened his eyes to see his Merlin sobbing onto him. Snapping his head up, it took Merlin to realize that his eyes were still burning gold. Arthur, still breathing heavily, took Merlinâs face into his hands and kissed him. Merlin, still catching up on what was happening, hesitated and when he finally understood what this kiss meant, Arthur unceremoniously passed out again--looking healthier as time continued on.Â
Arthur managed to kill the Necat Caritatem in a bloody fight. The creature tried to use a hallucination of Merlin doing magic against him to slow down Arthurâs fighting, but seeing Merlin with beautifully golden eyes, giving off such an auror of power only made Arthur fight harder. If Merlin truly had that power within him, then Arthur wanted to witness that power himself. He knew Merlinâs heart, and an evil sorcerer is not who he was--no matter what this creature showed him. Not expecting that reaction of pure love, the creature fought dirty and clumsily--since itâs main source of attack was usually against the mind. Arthur ended it with Excalibur through its heart, and with Arthur trying to remember when his vision started getting so blurry.
The next time he woke up, it was to Merlin crying over his body, glowing ethereally. Those eyes he was taught to hate was the only reason he was alive, and the golden fire seemed to complete who Merlin was to him: strength, power, wisdom, and love. Through that train of thought, Arthurâs only reasonable reaction was to kiss the ever-loving shit out of Merlin until the dark claimed him once more.
âI have you, itâs okay.â + Merthur đ also omg I'm so glad you want to get into writing I can't wait to read it!
thank you so muchđ„ș, you guys have been too kindđđ im so excited!! i really love writing, but i learned from that first one that itâs exhausting đ gah i love merthur, lets do this (also, the knights are all alive bc i love them//shade lancelot did happen but merlin brought him back for good good) ALSO, this drabble really ran for more than i was actually going for lmfao im sorry its so long
Merlin didnât know how he wanted Arthur to find out about his magic. Most of Merlinâs recurring nightmares consist of the possibility that Arthur will react the wrong way. After all these years, Merlin dying on the pyre wouldnât be the worst situation. What Merlin truly dreaded the most was the inevitable betrayal that he would see in Arthurâs eyes, the look he gets when someone he loves hurts him in the most personal way. The look where Arthur thinks he is the problem, not those betraying him. Agravaine, Morgana, Gwen, and even shade-Lancelot made Arthur vulnerable enough for him to love them just to be stabbed in the back one way or another because of it. Arthur blames himself when his people turn their backs on him, and Merlin refuses to get that look from Arthur.
Killing Merlin, as horrible as it sounds, would probably be kinder. Merlin cares more for Arthur than words could describe. It wasnât because of prophecy, or because Arthur was a good person and an even better King, it was because Merlin loves Arthur. It is as simple as that. Merlin loves the way Arthur smirks when bantering, the way he smiles when he is helping someone in need, the way he fights for his people, the way he never gives up hope no matter what happens or who they face, the way his eyes light up when sparring with his knights. Imagining Arthur shutting him out, away from his light, was a staggering enough thought that kept Merlin quiet.
At first, it was because of Uther. Merlin wouldnât make Arthur pick between them, even if Merlin always thought that Arthur would always pick Uther. Then it was Morgana, then it was every little excuse that allowed Merlin to push back the truth further behind his happy facade. Arthur expressed his hatred of magic enough to let Merlin understand that he wouldnât be accepted...even if Merlin was magic itself.Â
There has never been a person more devoted to another human than Merlin to Arthur. Without one, there was no other. The castle knew this, as did the knights. Gwaine and Lancelot would tease him relentlessly about his love for Arthur, but even they did not know the half of his dedication to the Once and Future King.Â
Merlin is the most powerful warlock to ever walk to earth, and he was terrified to tell his best friend his two deepest secrets. The warlock part, of course, and the part where Merlinâs entire existence was to serve, protect, and love Arthur to his dying breath. Merlin believes that Arthur might have an inkling that Merlin is truly in love with him, but Arthur never let too much show between them if he does know. Servant and King. The one born because of magic and the one born made of magic. Two sides, one coin (if the large reptile had a say in this). They were like the sun and the moon, destined to rotate but not touch. Arthur was Merlinâs sun, his light, his hopes, his destiny.Â
Today was hunting day for Arthur, which meant Merlin pretended to grumble the whole morning about spending time with the knights and the king simply so he could see Arthurâs eyes light up with that playful glow. The Knights of the Roundtable were with them today, to Merlinâs delight. Gwaine and Lancelot were finally getting closer to each other through Merlin, and he couldnât be more enthusiastic about it. They were the closest to brothers he ever had, and he was so grateful to have them in his life. Lancelot was welcomed back after the whole scandal since Morgana was outed, but Gwen decided to permanently end things with Arthur. Merlin was upset they werenât together anymore, but Arthur did not seem too distraught about the news. Arthur probably sees the way Lancelot looks at Gwen and figured he couldnât compete with that love, which made Merlinâs heart clench painfully.
Merlin was riding beside Arthur when the unimaginable happened. The forest was quiet in the way that made Merlinâs magic crawl, but no one seemed concerned with his fears. Merlin knew better. Right before the army ambushed, Merlin simply looked at Arthur. Arthur looked like he was bathing in sunlight, with a golden halo and his sparking sword hanging by his side, laughing at something Gwaine was talking about. Merlinâs life was Arthurâs well-being, and if it meant Arthur hated him for the rest of his life, then so be it.
The minute they entered the clearing, the laughter died. The knights reacted immediately with their King leading the way, swinging off their horses and preparing for battle. The army wasnât too big, but it was Morganaâsâmeaning magic users of different degrees everywhere. Her army did not look impressive, but the true power was in the hidden fact that each one of her soldiers wielded some magic. Merlin could feel it in the air. He could almost taste the potential power these people had, and he knew today was the day he has been dreading since he realized his love for Arthur.
Today was the day of Merlinâs betrayalâbut it was the only choice. Arthurâs safety goes beyond what Merlin wanted..it always would, no matter how this ended.
Merlin didnât waste any more time. He spelled the knights and his king to the ground with one look, saw the shocked expressions on different faces (he didnât dare look at Arthur yet), but he did not let himself ponder them for too long. He thought up a shield then, putting those he loved in a bright, golden bubble of protection. Knowing they were safe allowed Merlin to relax for a second before turning his attention to the problem coming at him. He counted thirty sorcerers, with Morgana leading the charge. He took a second to truly look at Morgana. Her hair was matted, her clothing ripped, her eyes were darkened by the nightmares she is no doubt plagued with. He felt such pity and sorrow at that moment, a feeling so intense that time itself stopped around him.Â
He walked up to Morgana, whose eyes were frozen gold with fury. He saw Aithusa in the back, and allowed time to continue for her alone. He spoke quietly to her, telling her how he is sorry for letting her stray so far and how he wasnât there for her when she needed him the most. Aithusa, although weary, came closer to Merlin and let him pet her nose. Through the connection, she could see why Merlin wasnât there for her, or more precisely, who Merlin had to protect above everyone and everything else. Aithusa, by command of Merlin, left then to Kilgharrah who would see to her recovery. Feeling better that his kin would be seen to after this, he focused his attention back to Morgana.
He then unfroze her. She, unexpectedly freed, fell to the ground. She was petrified, Merlin could tell. Her destiny, her doom. He was who she feared at night, who kept her awake after the nightmares, the one who poisoned her for the love of Camelot. Morgana was many things, but a coward is not one of them. She stood her ground, as regally as one can manage after falling, and looked Merlin in the eyes. What she wasnât expecting was the pain she saw, for her. She started, not understanding his emotion. Quickly, too quickly for anyone to comprehend, Merlin grabbed both sides of her face and chanted with such sadness and despair. He pleaded to the earthâs magic to take her powers, and to use them for good, to help those in need. The earth responded kindly to his request, and it did what was asked of it. Morgana quickly fell asleep in Merlinâs arms, while Merlin was slowly crying over his lost, hurting friend.Â
Time unfroze. The army halted, seeing Morganaâs magic flowing into the earth, and decided that a retreat would be more beneficial than attacking Emrys. Merlin could feel the magic leave Morgana, leaving behind a broken girl whoâs heart has been hurt too many times to be fair. She deserves another chance, Merlin pleaded once more, and with that thought, the earth healed her enough to be able to live without her powers. She will live, the ground whispered to Merlin, and he tried to choke back a sob. Arthur could have another chance with his sister, and Gwen could finally have her best friend backâif Morgana wished, of course. Gwaine came behind Merlin and slowly peeled her away from him. Merlin staggered up, never using that much raw power before in his life, and started swaying.Â
âI have you, itâs okay,â Merlin thought he heard Arthur quaver to him. Strong arms picked him up, and although Merlin was slowly fading, he swore he saw an angel lift him up, crying about how much Merlin meant to him. He passed out before he could make sense of it.
What isnât said here is the simple fact that Arthur loves Merlin. Arthur loves the way Merlin smiles when he knows he is being sassy, the way his nose crinkles when he disagrees with something Arthur has said, the way Merlinâs eyes look when he says something abnormally wise to Arthur. Arthur is who he is because Merlin believes in him and magic isnât going to throw it away. Arthur may not understand what just happened, but it wasnât destructive, or cruel, or evil. It was pure, beautiful magic that only aimed to save the people around itâand wasnât that who Merlin was at the end of the day? The magic felt like home, like love, so like Merlin that Arthurâs breath caught in his throat.Â
He didnât feel betrayed, surprisingly. He was hurt that Merlin couldnât trust something so vital, so beautiful about himself because Arthurâs father was a tyrant and drilled something so wrong into Arthurâs mind. But never again will Arthur be swayed by his fatherâs ghost. Merlin saved him, probably more times than he could count as he continues looking back on their adventures.Â
Arthur loves Merlin as much as Merlin loves Arthur, so he knows that no matter what happens after today, that fact will never change.Â
The best moments in reading are when you come across something â a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things â that youâd thought special, particular to you. And here it is, set down by someone else, a person youâve never met, maybe even someone long dead. And itâs as if a hand has come out, and taken yours.
How about Merlin giving Arthur an amazing pep talk before his coronation, which will include a direct or indirect love confession?? đ€đ€đ€
Thank you! đ
-----------------------------
Arthur looked at himself in the mirror and swallowed hard. It was a day he knew would eventually come but now it was here, Arthur questioned if he was ready. Ruling a kingdom was in his blood, it was his birthright, a future he couldnât escape and yet Arthur felt like an imposter. Uther had been preparing Arthur for ruling since he was a child and now the time had finally come for Arthur to take his place on the throne.
Arthur was shaken from his thoughts as Merlin burst into his chambers, carrying Arthurâs chainmail and cloak with a bright grin. Arthur couldnât understand how Merlin was so calm, how he just carried on with his duties as if this wasnât the biggest day of the year. Truth be told, Arthur knew that the coronation wouldnât change much for Merlin but still, he should be freaking out too, right?
Merlin walked over to Arthur and began to dress the man in silence, a small smile on his face as he pulled on the chainmail. He gently brushed a lone strand of hair from Arthurâs face before pulling back with a gentle blush. Arthurâs expression hardened and Merlin bit his lip.
âBig day.â Merlin said, moving to fetch Arthurâs cloak.
âYeahâŠâ Arthur murmured.
âAre you nervous?â
âWhat do you think, Merlin?â Arthur snapped, finally looking at the man. âSorry, I just.. I am. Iâm nervous.â
Merlin returned with Arthurâs cloak and draped it round the soon-to-be Kingâs shoulders. He moved to stand in front of the man and started to fasten the material.
âArthur, youâre going to be a great King.â
âWhat if Iâm not ready? What if I do something wrong?â
Merlin wasnât used to seeing the Prince this vulnerable, sharing his thoughts and feelings openly but then again, it was the biggest day in Arthurâs life and Merlin smiled softly.
âYou wonât do anything wrong. The people love you, youâre going to unite the lands, be the greatest King that Albion will ever know.â
âHow do you know that? How can you be so sure?â
Now definitely wasnât the time to tell Arthur about their shared destiny, about the future that Kilgarrah had spoken of, so Merlin simply placed his hands on Arthurâs shoulders and spoke softly.
âBecause I know you. Arthur Pendragon, you are smart and brave and strong and⊠Youâre exactly what Camelot needs.â
Arthur looked deep into Merlinâs eyes and saw the sincerity there, he saw how much Merlin really believed what he was saying. But then he also saw something else.. A look that Arthur couldnât quite put his finger on.
Merlinâs hands were still on Arthurâs shoulders and he couldnât bring himself to pull away from the man's stare. The blue of Arthurâs eyes was like an ocean Merlin wanted to drown in, the softness of his skin was pulling Merlin in.
The air felt heavy between them and Arthurâs breaths became heavier as he thought about the reality of their situation. He had realised long ago the attraction he felt towards his manservant but had never had the courage to voice such feelings, especially not when his father was alive. But now, in this moment, something changed.
Merlin watched Arthurâs face, trying to figure out what he was thinking. There was something going on behind those blue eyes and Merlin waited, giving Arthur the time he needed to work it out.
It only took a moment before Arthur breathed in and said something that Merlin would remember for all his lifetimes to come.
âIâm only all those things because I have you. I wouldnât be who I am today.. without you, Merlin. I.. I need you.â
âYou would be an even bigger clotpole without me, thatâs for sure.â Merlin chuckled.
âMerlin, I need you by my side. When Iâm King, I need you with me.â
âArthur, Iâll always be here, donât worry.â
Arthur swallowed, searching for the right words to explain what he really meant but Merlin filled the silence for them both, leaning forward and pressing a gentle kiss to Arthurâs forehead.
âIâll always be by your side.â
And Arthur knew then that he could do this, that becoming King wouldnât be as challenging as he once thought, not when he had Merlin by his side.
âI feel like he walks in a room and he just glows. He owns the oxygen. I feel so much safer when heâs around. Itâs like when youâre a kid â if Dadâs with you nothing bad can happen. Not to make Downey seem like my father, but thereâs something about him that makes you feel very protected.â
âThere have been plenty of times where my little noisy brain can start getting loud. Heâs really good at helping me recalibrate and get back down to earth. Heâs a very soothing source for me.â
âThereâs genuine care. He can speak to you and make you feel like youâre the only person in the room and that you have his undivided attention. Heâs clearly been through a lot in his life, so nothing feels saccharine or unctuous.â
