and your desktop died… and you were told by loads of people it was either your power supply or motherboard and you took your power supply in to get tested and it supposedly works fine (but they wouldn’t know if it spikes or anything)…  Would you…  A) Get a used replacement old motherboard and hope it works ok B) Get a new power supply and hope it really was the power supply after all (which… if it was wouldn’t it have toasted the mb anyway? or… I dunno) C) Try to get funds together to get a new mb/processor/ram and kinda start fresh

My current parts are hand-me-downs and are about 8 years old. It runs the sims ok, struggles a smidge with my addiction to CC/mods but really struggles with Cities Skylines and a bit with large maps of Civ.

Call For Financial Help

Hi everyone,

A good person needs some financial help. He has been in a bad situation and being able to get online to distract himself from the Bad has been what keeps him sane. His laptop died today after months of trying desperately to keep it running.

If you can find $5/ €5 to donate to the cause of getting him a new one, it would go a LONG way. If you cannot donate personally, a reblog and signal boost would be very much appreciated regardless.

The wording in the donation page was couched toward a server/game group but I am trying to spread the word for the organiser outside of that circle in the hopes of drumming up some additional support. Our goal is “only” €400 because we found a decent laptop that can support light gaming in addition to the usual e-mail/internet/movie functions and will hopefully last him another several years.

The Los Angeles Women’s March expected 80,000. 750,000 reportedly showed up.

All across the U.S. — and around the globe — participants came out for women’s marches on Saturday. In Los Angeles alone, the turnout exceeded organizers’ expectations almost 10 times over.

Organizers expected 80,000 people to show up to march in Downtown LA, one NBC LA reporter said in a tweet. But the total was closer to 750,000, according to updates from the organizers.

Celebrities came out for the LA chapter of the march, too — Barbra Streisand, Kerry Washington, Natalie Portman, Ariana Grande, Laverne Cox and Demi Lovato were all reportedly at the march. Read more

Where to even…start…

I really didn’t want to have to resort to this, but I don’t really have much of a choice at this point. Asking for help has never been a strong suit, even when I need it. But…well… here’s where you can donate to help me get through the next month.

A little backstory. Back in March I was laid off from my job because they had trouble paying people. I’ve had one temp job since, which paid better, and currently work three days a week at yet another job. All the money I had managed to save has since gone to bills.

Recently a friend of mine bought me a two-week trip to visit him and a few other friends for my birthday in Canada. (I live in the States.) So I started saving money to bring with me. In the middle of July, I tried to get it changed to foreign currency through my bank, which required a minimum amount of $200. They messed up my order and sent me the wrong currency. I was told to take that back in for a refund; meanwhile, to get the correct currency, I had to order more and get charged a second time.

So $400 and a month later, I’m still left with 4$ in my bank and still no refund (despite having called several times, each time being told to wait). I have already been on my two-week trip, which was during an entire pay period of my current job. Due to unexpected medical costs during my trip, and still having to pay for all my home expenses (which I owe on top of this month’s costs), I’m in a very…uncomfortable position.

I’ve applied to several places for a second job with not much luck; the company I temped for is going to have positions soon for their next program, but that starts in October. In the meantime, I only have my current job, which barely lets me scrape by and stay living where I am, and I’m going for my licence so I’ll have to be paying for gas soon on top of everything else. So any amount you can manage to donate would be appreciated! Or signal boosts if you can’t!

This is absolutely disgusting but unfortunately, not surprising in the least. This is the daily life and struggle of young girls that a lot of men don’t wanna believe exists. 

If you don’t believe this, just ask any of your female friends, or google some statistics yourself.

And people give me (and others) shit for “sexualizing” kids and teens... no, I’m just overly aware of how fucked up the world is and try to hope that people can keep it mind. It would be awesome if people weren’t such fucking creepy perverts but that isn’t likely to ever change.

Kids are sexually abused at every age. Every age. I started being abused around the age of 5, as far as I can remember. Trying to tell people that your 6 year old should be free to run around without clothes on at the beach or that it’s ok for them to flash their underwear at people in a grocery store or that a 9 year old can wear a bikini without a wrong glance... sorry to tell you but people are sexualized by people always. Obviously not all people, but you never know who your kid is flashing or a bikini wearing pre-teen is laying around near...

You don’t know if the neighborhood boys take your 5 year old onto someone’s garage door (I still can’t figure out how that’s possible... but apparently back in the olden days of the 80′s you could sit inside a garage on the open door) and do things they shouldn’t... or that the babysitter you leave her with has three sons of varying ages and two of them do things they shouldn’t to her... or that in a few years her best male friend’s father would watch porn and masterbate within view, while in the livingroom, while babysitting her.

(Or that she grew up thinking that in order to get people to like her or to cheer people up or repay them for a kindness or to have worth she had to be sexual because that’s how you explained things to her... paving the way for a lot of abuse and advantage-taking for about 20 years...)

You never know. Not truly.

Just because you feel like your daughter (or son too, to be honest, might not happen as often but it surely does happen) should be safe and free in the world doesn’t make it so, and to make me a monster for being concerned... no.

These things happen. Every day. Ignoring them doesn’t make them not go away. It’s called denial.
