The clock on the wall ticked steadily as I entered my apartment, the familiar smell of takeout wafting through the air. “I swear, if you order sushi again, I might just throw you out of this place,” I teased Dino, who was right behind me, carrying a bag overflowing with food.
“Oh, come on! You know sushi is life!” he protested dramatically, rolling his eyes. “Besides, I thought you liked it.”
“I do like it! But I also like variety,” I replied, tossing my keys onto the kitchen counter. “And I’m pretty sure I’m going to turn into a fish if we keep this up.”
Dino laughed as I set the bag down on the table. “Fine! Next time, we’ll get pizza or something. But tonight is all about sushi and—”
I stopped mid-sentence as I stepped into the open-plan kitchen and froze. My heart dropped into my stomach. There, casually leaning against the counter with a glass of what looked suspiciously like the expensive red wine, I’ve been storing in cabinet—was Mister Vampire himself. Dressed in an expensive-looking black suit and coat. “What the actual hell?” I exclaimed, my voice rising an octave as I pointed at him like he was some kind of intruder. “You can’t just hang out in my kitchen uninvited!”
He looked up from his drink, unfazed by my outburst. “Ah, Y/N! You’re back! And you brought a friend!” His tone was casual, almost too relaxed for someone who had just been caught in a very compromising position.
Dino’s eyes widened as he took in the scene. “The fuck, is he?” Dino asks, coming to stand in front of me protectively, eyes narrowing as he takes in the figure across from us. “No, need to be protective, buddy. I come in peace.” Mr Vampire smiles back in return. “What are you doing in my apartment?” I ask coming around Dino. “What do you mean, Y/N? You allowed me inside.” He asks, corking his head to the side.
“That didn’t include you having free reign of my apartment. You don’t live here.” I retorted, crossing my arms across my chest. His eyes glance down at my chest. “Your tits look nice like that.” He replies, opening my fridge. “Hey, you can’t talk to her like that,” Dino says sternly coming back to stand in front of me. “Who is this person, Y/N?”
“Dino, this is….” I trail off realizing I never got his name. “Wonwoo.” He answers head stuck deep in my fridge. “Wonwoo, the man I told you about.” I finish, as I start packing out the food Dino and I brought. “What? You’ve only told me about one man, you describe him as a creature!” Dino states, confused. “Vampire to be exact,” Wonwoo interjects. “Excuse me?!” He exasperates.
“You heard me. Now can you please, calmly and quietly, process what you’ve been told? While we eat our dinner.” Wonwoo says, pointing to the food. “You’re not eating with us,” I say. “Why not?” He asks pouting slightly. “Because you’re here uninvited. What are you even doing here”
“I was thirsty,” he replied nonchalantly, gesturing to the glass. “And your fridge was surprisingly well-stocked for someone who buys takeout as much as you do.” I shot him a glare that could have melted steel. “You can’t just waltz into my home and raid my fridge!”
“And technically, you invited me in,” he said with a smirk that made my heart race for reasons I didn’t want to explore. “Inviting you in doesn’t mean you can treat this place like your personal café!” I retorted.
Dino finally found his voice again. “So… um… he is the dream thief?”
“Yes!” I exclaimed, throwing my hands up in exasperation. “He’s been haunting my dreams and decided to make himself at home in my kitchen!”
“Haunting your dreams? That sounds… romantic?” Dino suggested hesitantly, glancing between us as if trying to piece together a puzzle that didn’t quite fit.
“Romantic? Are you kidding me?” I shot back. “This is more like a horror movie!
Mister Vampire chuckled softly, clearly enjoying our banter. “You know, Y/N, if you keep talking about me like that, I might start to feel hurt.”
“Good!” I said defiantly. “You should feel hurt! You’re invading my space!”
“Invading? Or enhancing?” he countered smoothly.
I rolled my eyes but couldn’t help the small smile creeping onto my face despite myself. “You’re impossible.”
Dino cleared his throat awkwardly. “So… what’s the plan here? Are we going to have a vampire dinner party or something?”
“Dinner party? Now that’s an idea,” Wonwoo mused thoughtfully. “I could bring some interesting appetizers.”
“Like what? Blood pudding?” I shot back sarcastically.
“Actually,” he said with mock seriousness, “I was thinking more along the lines of garlic bread… but only if you promise not to freak out.”
“No garlic bread!” I exclaimed dramatically. “That’s where I draw the line!”
Dino burst into laughter at our exchange while Wonwoo simply leaned back against the counter with an amused expression.
“So,” Dino said after catching his breath, “is this how your life is going to be now? A vampire roommate?”
I glanced at Mister Vampire and then back at Dino. “I don’t know about a roommate, but it seems like we’re stuck with each other for now.”
“Stuck? That sounds so… permanent,” Wonwoo interjected with a teasing glint in his eyes.
“Don’t get any ideas,” I warned him playfully while trying to suppress a smile.
As we stood there in the kitchen—me glaring at him while Dino tried to contain his laughter—I couldn’t shake off the feeling that this was just the beginning of something bizarrely entertaining. Who knew what other surprises awaited us?
“Well then,” Dino said finally, breaking the tension with a grin. “Shall we eat before our vampire friend drinks all our blood—or sushi?”
“Definitely sushi first!” I declared firmly as we all gathered around the table.
And just like that, amidst laughter and playful banter, our strange little trio began to form—a vampire who raided kitchens and two friends navigating this absurd new reality together.

The word "vampire" hung in the air like a poorly timed punchline. My heart raced, not from fear but from a bizarre mix of disbelief and fear. “You’re serious?” I stammered, half-expecting him to burst out laughing and reveal this was all some elaborate prank.
He leaned closer, his eyes glinting with mischief. “As serious as a bat in a belfry,” he replied, his voice smooth yet laced with an unsettling charm. “But I’m not here to suck your blood or anything cliché like that. I prefer my snacks with a side of fear.”
“Great! So, you’re telling me I’m your midnight buffet?” I shot back, crossing my arms defiantly. “How flattering.”
He chuckled, and it sent shivers down my spine—not the scary kind, but the kind that made me question my sanity. “I feed on fear,” he admitted, his expression shifting to one of mock seriousness. “But it’s not just any fear; it’s the kind that makes you feel alive—like when you accidentally open your ex’s social media profile.”
“Ah yes, the classic ‘I shouldn’t have done that’ moment,” I nodded knowingly. “So, you’re telling me I’m your favorite horror movie?”
“More like a binge-worthy series,” he quipped, crossing his arms with a smirk. “But you’ve been quite the fascinating subject. You confront your fears instead of running away.”
“Well, if I knew I was being studied like some damn kind of lab rat, I would have at least asked for a better outfit,” I retorted, glancing down at my pajamas adorned with cartoon cats. “Do you have any idea how hard it is to look intimidating in this getup?”
He raised an eyebrow, clearly amused. “You look great for someone who’s been plagued by nightmares.”
“Flattery will get you nowhere, mister vampire,” I said, crossing my arms defiantly. “So how do I get rid of you?”
He leaned back in his chair, a smirk playing on his lips. “Ah, that’s the million-dollar question, isn’t it? You can get rid of me simply by… letting me in.”
“Letting you in?” I echoed, raising an eyebrow. “Is this some kind of metaphorical invitation to my heart, or are we talking about my actual apartment?”
“Both,” he replied smoothly, his eyes sparkling with mischief. “But mostly the latter. You see, once I’m invited in, I can stop lurking in the shadows like a creepy stalker.”
“Great! So all I have to do is say ‘please come into my home and haunt me’?” I shot back sarcastically. “That sounds like a solid plan.”
He chuckled, the sound low and rich. “It’s not as bad as it sounds. Think of it as a mutually beneficial arrangement. You get your peaceful sleep, and I get to hang out with you.”
“Hang out? Is that what we’re calling this? Because it feels more like a horror movie waiting to happen,” I retorted, trying to ignore the fluttering sensation in my stomach.
“Come on! It’s not like I’m asking for blood—unless you’re into that kind of thing,” he teased, leaning forward slightly.
“Ew! No thanks!” I exclaimed, waving my hands dramatically. “I prefer my relationships blood-free!”
He laughed again, and for a moment, the tension between us eased. “Alright then, how about we strike a deal? You let me in tonight, and I promise to keep the nightmares at bay.”
“And if I say no?”
“Then I’ll just have to keep popping by your window like an unwanted pizza delivery,” he said with a wink.
I rolled my eyes but couldn’t help the smile creeping onto my face. “You really think you can charm your way into my life with cheesy lines?”
“It’s worked for centuries,” he replied with mock seriousness. “But seriously, Y/N—what do you have to lose?”
I hesitated for a moment, weighing my options. The idea of letting him in was terrifying yet oddly tempting. Maybe it was the thrill of the unknown or the fact that he was undeniably intriguing.
“Fine! But if you turn out to be some kind of bloodsucking monster—”
“I promise to only suck your fears away,” he interrupted smoothly.
“Ugh! That’s even worse!” I groaned dramatically.
“Just say the word,” he urged, his expression earnest now.
Taking a deep breath, I finally relented. “Okay! Come in!”
With that simple phrase, everything shifted. The air around us crackled with energy as he stepped over the threshold of my window and into my room. Suddenly, it felt like there was more than just an ancient vampire standing before me; there was an undeniable chemistry brewing beneath our banter.
“So… what now?” I asked nervously as he settled beside me on the bed.
“Now we start our little adventure together,” he said with a grin that made my heart race.

“You’re the shittest best friend ever, Lee Chan,” I groaned while throwing my head back dramatically.
“What do you want me to do, Y/N?” Dino asked with amusement tinged with concern as he watched me silently.
“Definitely not shrug it off like it's no big deal,” I exasperatedly replied.
“Dino,” You continue frustratedly while munching on sushi nearby. “I just told you saw—a man—in MY apartment! A man I don’t know! And this is your reaction?”
“Firstly,” Dino pointed out matter-of-factly between bites of sushi, “you said ‘creature,’ and secondly…you also mentioned him climbing in and out through your bedroom window! May I remind you that you live on the fifth floor? Lastly? This is likely all just figments created by your sleep deprivation.”
Exactly four years ago now since falling head over heels platonically for him—the son from whom I'd been hosted during migration towards Seoul South Korea—for studies at one prestigious university among others—our bond grew strong after he took punches meant for me from jealous girls returning fire against cheating boyfriends alike—all he asked in return was ice cream which naturally led us here today!
“It is not sleep deprivation!” frustration seeped into every word escaping my lips once more; “I have been sleeping fine this past week!”
“You said that he ‘came to steal your peaceful sleep.’ Pretty sure that’s still sleep deprivation,” Dino stood firm against any further arguments thrown his way confidently munching away still unfazed by everything else transpiring around us both right now!
“You really won’t believe it until seeing it firsthand yourself, will you?”
The conversation left lingering doubts swirling inside—a bit disheartened now too perhaps—but maybe he was right about making things up altogether. Why then did everything feel so vivid? Real? The fear…the touch…the voice—it all lingered like shadows refusing to dissipate completely!
But surely everything felt too real not merely imagined! I have been sleeping well at night for about six days now because that fucker never showed up again! If I'm honest with myself though? Dino's explanation is starting to look more plausible than ever before! Maybe this tall pale-skinned man was nothing, but figments conjured by exhaustion alone?
But still…that doesn’t explain those nightmares lingering behind either!
Perfectly fine whenever absent from sight…yet once again here am staring out windows wondering if tonight might bring back visits just like promised earlier?
To be completely honest, I’m kind of annoyed. Happy sure—but annoyed nonetheless because it lied about returning eventually!
Curiosity gnawed relentlessly within. Wondering what exactly he is to be bestowed with powers capable of inflicting such terrible dreams upon others instead?! Like any other 21st-century adult scoured forums mythological texts and obscure websites seeking answers and found nothing but empty pages instead.
All ancient folklore fitting his/it’s characteristics commonly depicted females instead—is he/she?
Tiredly rubbing my eyes clock strikes midnight meaning officially Saturday morning officially time chronically online ass to put my phone down finally!
Sighing heavily making way over locking windows—a habit learned after learning about nightly intruders lurking outside waiting patiently for me to fall asleep.
It’s the middle of summer and I want nothing more than to leave my window open wide and let cool breezes filter through rooms smelling sweet mosquito repellent wafting around everywhere nearby…
Suddenly, a loud thud jolts me awake from slumber followed closely by a second louder thud something heavy landed on a small metallic balcony outside! They say curiosity killed cats well call me that cat then! Carefully making way over the window pepper spray gripped tightly ready just in case needed…Just as I’m about to peek through familiar figure pops abruptly causing a shriek to escape lips involuntarily!
Eyes shifting latch mine back again asking silently if wanting…smirking I turned swiftly heading back to bed instead! If there’s one thing about myself? Never mess with liars ever! I can feel his confused gaze following my movements closely.
I know this man isn’t human, yet I’m still surprised by the sound of unlocking the window, abruptly sitting upright just in time to witness him entering the room casually like it’s his own!
“I'm sorry waking you,” says moving to take a seat bed beside me casually without hesitation whatsoever!
“Nuh uh sit at the desk instead!” kicking him off the bed playfully without remorse whatsoever!
“You never had a problem with me sitting before?” replying complying nonetheless without question whatsoever either!
“I've only been fully awake once when you were here, so technically it was never consensual!” pointing out firmly standing my ground against any further arguments thrown back towards my direction either way possible!
“We both know you were more curious afraid!” retorting smirk playing lips teasingly back towards direction again still…
“Don’t be cocky, the worst thing could do is kill me and I figured finally get all the sleep I’ve been missing out on” replying sarcastically smiling back at him. Chuckling lightly, his pretty smile lights up his face effortlessly radiating warmth around the room-filling space…
“So, are going to answer my question from last time? Or need force?”
“What question?” his head cocked to the side curiously catching attention fully now suddenly realizing how cute annoying could get easily enough too…
“What are you?! Sandman’s evil cousin something?”
Instead, chuckling broadening smile deep hearty sound resonated chest echoing softly throughout the entire room filling atmosphere surrounding us both instantly!
“The Sandman's evil cousin—that's first! No—I’m vampire!”
My heart skipped a beat momentarily, forgetting to breathe. I was entirely taken aback and completely stunned by the silence enveloping the entire space surrounding us both instantly!

Strongly inspired by that one scene in the J&W Last Night MV. **************************************************** 01
At first, I thought I was losing my mind. Night after night, I’d wake up drenched in sweat, my heart racing as if I’d been fleeing from some unseen terror. The memories of unsettling dreams lingered, fragmented and hazy like pieces of a puzzle I couldn’t quite assemble. Desperate for answers, I visited doctor after doctor. They all delivered the same verdict: “Night terrors.” They prescribed various medications, but nothing helped me sleep.
I began to notice the pattern a couple of months after the dreams started. It would come to me like a thief in the night—actually, it was a thief in the night. It came to rob me of my peaceful sleep and pleasant dreams. I felt what I assumed was its hand on my cheek, the touch icy yet oddly deliberate, gently stroking me. The sensation sent shivers down my spine, as though its touch carried a weight—an otherworldly presence pressing against my soul.
The moment it removed its hand from my cheek, I’d only have a few fleeting moments of calm. Sometimes, I could feel its eyes on my covered figure, watching me sleep—watching me shake and cry in fear—listening to my muffled screams. It felt as if I were paralyzed in my own body; I couldn’t even wake up.
It’s been almost a year now of this endless cycle. I’ve tried every medication on the market, but nothing seemed to help—except for completely exhausting myself. I forced myself to stay awake all week, consuming an unhealthy amount of energy drinks, hoping my body would shut down completely on its own. I had no other choice; I didn’t want to see those horrible things.
It’s been a week since I’ve had any good, uninterrupted sleep. I’ve been longing for it all week. A glance at my bedside clock reveals 1:00 a.m.—Saturday morning, my bedtime. I made sure to complete all the adulting tasks that people with normal sleep schedules would do over the weekend throughout the week. I planned for a big sleep—almost two days of nothing but peaceful, continuous slumber with occasional breaks for the bathroom and food.
As I settled into bed, the silk linens cooled my body from the oppressive summer heat. The faint hum of a distant air conditioner buzzed through the walls, punctuated by the occasional creak of old wooden floorboards beneath me. Outside, crickets chirped softly while leaves rustled gently in the breeze, creating a deceptive sense of calm in an otherwise stifling night.
Just as slumber transitioned into deep sleep, I heard it: the sound of my bedroom window opening. A light breeze swept through before it shut again. Then came the eerie sound of light footsteps on the hardwood floor—the bed dipping as something settled down beside me—and that cold feeling of its ‘hand’ on my cheek.
Its deep voice rasped softly: “You’re a smart one. You’ve adapted so quickly.”
I wanted to open my eyes; I wanted to see what it was. But my body had already surrendered to its desire for sleep—the only thing I craved more than anything else. Another week passed without a visit from the creature. I made sure to sneak in some sleep here and there—mostly at work or during commutes—opting for carpooling or taking the bus whenever possible. Evenings allowed for an hour or two of rest at night.
He had grown accustomed to my routine, watching and learning my every move. Timing his visits to coincide with my weakest moments ensured that I was always too tired to resist or react.
As the clock neared 2:30 a.m., it seemed like his usual time for ‘visits.’ He knew it wouldn’t take long for me to fall asleep; according to his calculations, I hadn’t slept all week—I was dead tired.
Snuggling into bed tonight, however, I opted to face away from him at my desk. A feeling nagged at me that he would be there watching me as I slept.
At exactly 3:00 a.m., just as expected, I heard my window creak open while pretending to be asleep. The familiar breeze brushed against me; then came that cold hand on my cheek again.
His deep voice murmured: “You’re the only one who’s ever found a way around my touch. I must say I've grown quite fond of you. Sleep peacefully tonight.”
That admission confirmed my suspicions; he settled into the chair at my desk facing me instead of watching me sleep like before. Crossing his long legs and resting his head on his hand, he breathed what could only be described as a tired sigh before his breathing slowed—he fell asleep.
From where I lay in bed, there wasn’t much to see except for moonlight filtering through the curtainless window across from him. He was tall—maybe 5’10”, perhaps even 6’. His pale skin contrasted sharply with long black hair framing sharp features that made him look human—attractive even.
For three hours, I watched him sleep while battling conflicting emotions within myself: fear mingled with curiosity as I studied how his chest rose and fell in a steady rhythm—so human yet so alien. Questions swirled in my mind: What was he? Why was he here? And why did his presence feel oddly comforting despite its terrifying nature?
The stillness amplified his mystery’s weight; I couldn’t tear my eyes away from him sleeping at my desk after breaking into my apartment.
Suddenly his eyes shot open, locking onto mine with an intensity that startled me. “Why are you awake?” he asked with curiosity laced with quiet irritation.
“Good morning to you too, dear stranger who came through my window like a creep,” I replied as I sat up fully.
“Why are you awake? You should be asleep,” he stated more sternly this time.
“I wasn’t as tired tonight,” I admitted honestly while tilting my head slightly leftward.
“Wanted to know what?”
I moved over toward the window and stared out at the brightly illuminated scene below me. “I wanted to know what kind of intruder has been slipping through my window and turning my nights into a living hell for the past eight months.”
Turning back towards him now standing right above me gazing down intently—I continued: “Things like this are usually better left unknown.”
His voice carried weight hinting at ancient secrets beyond comprehension—a deep sorrow perhaps even regret—that made me wonder what horrors he had seen or caused.
“What can I say? I'm just curious,” I shrugged in response without breaking eye contact with those cat-like irises staring back at me intently.
“I’ll be back tomorrow morning,” he said suddenly moving faster than any human could react before vanishing out through the window without another word spoken.
“What the fuck is it?”
