Do you have any thoughts on the parents we’ve not gotten to see? We haven’t gotten so much as a silhouette for Kalim’s parents, and I don’t think the Ignihyde boys’ parents have ever been shown at all…so much parent potential…

if we finally get to see Sebek's mom and she isn't nine feet tall and built like a concrete wall then WHAT am I going to DO with myself 😔 (jk jk I don't think it's possible for me not to love her, so please Twst give me that Briar Valley hometown trip I need to see the Zigvolts --)

we HAVE seen the Shroud parents though (out of silhouette even!), they play a pretty major part in episode 7! they're not at all what I expected but after the initial thirty seconds of "what...why...why are they..." shock it turned out that out of all the directions they could've chosen, Daft Punk Bert and Ernie was actually the correct one. good job Twst.

(I kinda doubt we're gonna get to see any of Mal at Styx in canon, which is a shame because I need to see him interacting with the Shroudrents immediately)

My bestie over on EN got one of Vil’s birthday cards today (which I guess is the second-to-last-day for them or something) and as a result it reactivated my Pomefiore hyperfixation so it was a win for us both! I really enjoyed the story when I was playing it and it might be my favorite so far. I ended up liking the Pomefiore trio more than I thought I would, especially Vil and Epel. Their relationship and interactions have just so much potential to be goofy.

On a slightly less goofy note, what are your thoughts on Vil and Epel’s relationship in book 5? Part of me was like “Vil is being too harsh” and part of me was like “how else is Epel supposed to improve? He’s being a bit of a brat”. Was just wondering if you had a take on their interactions or anything and if you’d like to share 🎤🎤🎤

(I know the Pomefiore story was ages ago but I have clung to it relentlessly)

oh 5 is probably still my second-favorite arc; Diasomnia still has an iron grip on my heart but the pompoms definitely hit me right. 😌 I love that it works as an (admittedly loose but still recognizable) adaptation of the fairytale in general, and in particular I feel like it manages to do it without, like, over-apologizing for Vil or villainizing Neige? which I guess sounds sorta obvious but I appreciate it all the same! and there's a lot that's extremely silly about it (it takes place at the big interschool talent show! the poison apple has been personified and he's part of the flashy dance number! Rook exists and is being Rook all over the place! there is a whole extended bit where Epel and Deuce just kind of fuck off for like three hours to have their own separate adventure and return as brothers in bond and spirit and no one else was present for this or has any idea it happened! AND SO MUCH MORE) but it all kind of just works so well for me! real peak of what I enjoy about Twst in one package 🤌🤌🤌

my take on Vil and Epel is mostly just that they're both stubborn petty dipshits about each other (Vil's convinced that if he can just make Epel cooperate then he can win the eternal imaginary fight he has going on inside his head with Neige; Epel hates everything about Pomefiore but his pride won't let him leave until he gets stronger than Vil instead of simply, idk, going to Crowley and asking for a transfer to a less batshit dorm) (the joke of course being that all the dorms here are equally batshit, sorry Epel) (meanwhile Rook is happily building a sculpture of Neige in his bedroom closet out of chewed gum and papier-mache and this is normal for him). and then afterwards it becomes more that like...Epel still isn't sure about this whole "being small and adorable has its advantages actually" thing but he is at least open to learning more (flashing back to Blazing Jewel when he thought Vil was SO proud of him and he was SO pleased at all the progress he'd made like. my dude. 😭) do they have a healthy relationship? absolutely not. is this par for the course for Stubborn Petty Dipshits With Unhealthy Relationships: The Game? 100%.

I totally respect that you mostly ship f/f, so I'll phrase this question as not the best or the most likely, but "what do YOU, Ego, think, if Yana Toboso had a big red button to make exactly one ship canon, would be the funniest and would make the fandom the most in a tizzy" I choose Leona and Neige

bear with me here, because this actually ties into something else I've been thinking about: between the Knight, Leia, and Henrik, Silver is basically the last remaining heir to all the land the Silver Owls stole, yes? but what with all the global territory disputes and treaties and general drama, it'd probably just be a huge mess that would get tied up in red tape for centuries if he, you know, tried to just give it back. however, for times like this, there is the traditional solution...

what I'm saying is, 99% of Briar Valley's political issues could be instantly solved if Silver marries Maleficia.

I think I was also lost in the inbox hiccup. I was wondering, since you’ve mentioned multiple times that the character blurbs we are given of the TWST characters at the beginning of game are terrible, what you would change them to be? I do agree, but I also think it’s quite tricky to describe the sheer delight that are these characters in only a few sentences without spoilers.

okay I admit I've been pretty unfair about those, because it IS difficult to encapsulate...(gestures to the huge emotional mess that is NRC) in just a couple of sentences each. and in particular because some of them ARE meant to be surprising; like, for example, Epel being such an angry little scrungle despite looking Like That. so I will eat crow here! (sorry headmaster) (though to be fair I will say that my issue is less the descriptions themselves being terrible, and more that they make all the characters sound like terrible people...which, to be even fairer, they kinda are. just, uh, more entertainingly so.) but yeah, I must fully admit to my hubris, because the only way I can think of to be more accurate is just to add the same exact label to everyone:

Alexandria's gotta be in full Tournament Mode by now, so I like to imagine her juuuuust offscreen in every scene, shouting furiously at the RSA boys to Chin Up and Gird Those Loins and Stiffen Those Upper Lips! if you don't know her then she probably sounds like a weirdly Enid Blyton-esque drill instructor, but they all know that actually she's being very supportive and encouraging (and of course Dorothy is there to encourage her :)

what a fool I was for saying we weren't going to get any new characters in chapter 3, because those were some A+ excellent supporting mobs. they deserved sprites. >:( ...although that does mean that there's nothing stopping me from adopting Clair and Taris (Talis?) as the IgniPom duo from the 2024 New Year Beyblade Tournament. that's them to me now. congrats on getting screentime and voices, guys!
