Ooo a scene from the Travelers...

So, I remember vaguely writing the scene where Klaus is sick and having @justanotherfiveminutes lose her mind because of Caroline putting water in the microwave to make tea. This is something I do constantly. It’s faster than a kettle and I have no regrets. This started Discourse.

That scene went through a few reworks, I think (?), and I had a lot of fun writing it because seeing Klaus, who in that fic (and probably all fics) basically thinks he’s invincible, being in that position was interesting to explore. And by that I mean funny. I was making fun of him. That’s what was happening.

Dragon dust

I assume this is for the directors cut?

Dragon Dust and I have a complicated relationship because I have been working on it since August 2017 and I sometimes love it and I sometimes hate it. It is a work I am writing for the ever lovely @justanotherfiveminutes (though she is rarely on tumblr anymore) who is also occasionally my beta reader and (now) me RL friend. And it is a consummate pain in my ass.

So the first scene where Caroline is clinging to the wall of the dragon castle was written for something like TWO YEARS before I managed to her off the damn wall. I rewrote the bit with Enzo and the scale like four or five times, and there was a lot of editing of the visuals. But it wasn’t until a train ride between Barcelona and Madrid in 2019 when I was sitting next to @justanotherfiveminutes after I showed her the first bit and she was like, and yes? the rest? Then I managed to have her leap.

And then I had to figure out how the castle worked, which, yay, magic.

The next roadblock was the bedroom. I was really invested in naked Klaus thundering out of his shower but I got really hung up on what would happen after. I wrote four different versions, and all of them had her not escaping that bedroom but it was just... flat. And boring. No push and pull, and who wants that? The decision to have them wrestle and for her to bolt came with a mix of relief and a need to be done with the story for a bit.

I have been chewing on part two, and right now I am debating whose perspective to start with or if I am sticking to just Caroline for this story. I have figured out what Caroline steals (I think) and it is appropriately soul destroying for Enzo.

As much pain as the story as been to get right, I am really in love with the idea of an ex-thief and a dragon as soul mates. So its definitely going to be finished at some point, I just have to have the time and mental energy to jump back in. All the notes and comments have been really lovely and super helpful in that department honestly.
