Thinking of making a comeback to this blog...
Stay tuned! It's been awhile!!! @shakeitupband
Dean Martin- "That's Amore"
Is there anything more classy than Dean Martin's music? I don't need to say much about this song.
Just a classic, beautiful love song right here.
Enjoy!
@shakeitupband
Get Young- "The Thirsting"
Get Young is a band you probably haven't heard of. That isn't pretentious, just probably true. The made big waves in the Minnesota scene, and then ended.
They formed from the remnants of a few local bands that were very talented for the times, and I had the pleasure of playing multiple shows with this band.
They have a cool, party-dirty-rock/hardcore vibe going on, and I dig it, ALOT.
Go ahead, ask any Minnesota kid about Get Young, do it!
Enjoy!
@shakeitupband
Andrew W.K.- "Party Hard"
Classic. Maybe not classic rock, but classic.
What song can pump you up faster than a french press of coffee? This song!
This song just makes you want to do exactly what the title says. The music carries the same vibe.
Andrew W.K. I have never heard any other song by you, and I am just as satisfied hearing this one again.
Enjoy!
@shakeitupband
Usher- "Climax"
Oh U(r)sher, you did it again.
This song is great. I love the simple drum pads going throughout the song, and the other sound effects. They are all quite laid back and basic, but it just allows for Usher's voice to stand out and sound all the greater.
He kills it with some of the high notes on this song.
Enjoy!
@shakeitupband
Hot Chelle Rae- "I Like To Dance"
Hot Chelle Rae is an interesting band. They are one of those bands that I can truly say I enjoy their non-top 40 radio stuff much better than their top-40 songs now.
They are also intriguing to me because their guitarist Ian is the son of a very popular contemporary Christian artist and guitarist named Phil Keaggy.
Anyways, I find this song very catchy and pretty good too. It's not an amazing, stand out song, but is well-written.
It makes you want to do exactly what the title says.
Enjoy!
@shakeitupband
Destiny's Child- "Jumpin Jumpin"
I know you know this song. I know you like this song. I know you want to dance right now.
We all do.
Do I even need to explain myself?
Enjoy!
@shakeitupband
Hilary Duff- "Come Clean"
When I was in college I had a really good friend named Andy. Andy and I were both in hardcore bands at the time (me in Nihilio, Andy in Write This Down), and we loved Hilary Duff.
I mean, loved. We had posters, we ate lunch together in his room and watched live concert dvds, etc.
We didn't mess around.
With that said, this is one of her many, many great songs. It is infectiously catchy and easy-going.
Love it.
Enjoy!
@shakeitupband
Panic At The Disco!- "The Only Difference Between Martyrdom and Suicide Is Press Coverage"
I'm going to firmly admit that I think Panic is an awesome band. I didn't want to admit it at first, and actually refused to listen to their debut album when everyone else liked it, but I caved a year later and fell in love with it.
In all honesty, I have liked all of their albums, as different as they are from each other, they are all so very well written. "The Only Difference..." is one of my favorites, because it was the first song I heard when I popped in my first Panic album, and the song just hit me right away.
What a well-written, and catchy song.
Seriously.
Enjoy!
@shakeitupband
David Banner ft. Lil Flip- "Like A Pimp"
This song is one big ball of ridiculousness, but I like it. I mostly like it, because rapping along to songs like this allow me to make my wife roll her eyes.
The beat is pretty cool though. I honestly wish this was the edited version though, because things are bleeped out with a dog bark, and it actually makes the song sound cooler.
Also, does anyone remember Lil' Flip? I remember his song "Game Over," but it seems like he fell off after that.
Enjoy!
@shakeitupband
Daft Punk- "One More Time"
When I hear this song I think of a few things- High school dances and good friends.
I was lucky enough to keep my core high school friends as good friends through college and even after that. Some were even groomsmen in my wedding. The song one more time is upbeat and happy, and just reminds me of good times.
If you don't know this song by now, I'm sure that once you start playing it you will immediately recognize it and be reminded of your good times.
Enjoy!
@shakeitupband
Mae- "Anything"
I think this is one of the most perfect songs, in my honest opinion.
First off, Mae was a fantastic band, and The Everglow was one of the best albums all the way through, ever released.
The chorus of this song just wraps me up in it.
Enjoy!
@shakeitupband
Passion Pit- "Constant Conversations"
This song is sick. From the shaky keys in the beginning, to the vibe on the verses and chorus. I love this because it has a sweet r&b vibe to it throughout and it just flows smoothly.
Definitely one of my favorite songs on the new album!
Enjoy!
@shakeitupband
Passion Pit- "Take A Walk"
By now I am sure you have heard this brand new gem off the new album "Gossamer" by Passion Pit. It is infectiously-catchy and shows a progression while not cutting any ties from their first album.
It WILL be stuck in your head.
Enjoy!
@shakeitupband
Alice Deejay- "Better Off Alone"
This song is so catchy. It is one of those songs from the 90s that I just love, the beat makes it sound like such a happy song, despite the lyrics saying otherwise.
Just try to listen to it and not get the beat stuck in your head... Impossible!
Enjoy!
@shakeitupband
Nate Washburn- "Broken Pieces"
This is a different post than I usually make on here, but you can expect more of them.
This song is by one of my best friends in the world. We have been roommates, tourmates, bandmates, and friends for years now.
This is a song that he recorded by himself just for fun, that I found on his computer one night.
I think it's sick. It is a chill song you can move to, with a really sad groove to it.
Love it.
Enjoy!
@shakeitupband
