Education in the Philippines

I am a graduating education student. For a span of 2 months I was able to handle hing school students. I gave the best that I can to fully impart the knowledge needed for them to be competent and to prepare them for the more complex topics in the certain subject area that I’m teaching. In my first week as a practice teacher I was asked to encode and compute for the grades of the students after finishing and printing all the grades I got a little bit disappointed because the teacher who asked me to encode and compute the grades wanted me to give additional points to the students who paid for a certain activity in school which for me is unfair to other students who didn’t pay because they don’t have the means to pay such activity. And she also wanted to give additional points to students who got a low grade which then again is unfair to the students because if you are going to give an additional point to one student then it should also be applied to all the students. Right?

And then here comes the next quarter, encoding and computing of grades again, and of course the same as the first quarter, the teacher wanted me to change the grades that I’ve computed, she wanted me again to give the students additional points.

Our role as a teacher is to teach the students and to compute their grades not falsify them.

If all the teachers here in the Philippines do this, then what will happen to our education system? The students are so happy that they got a high grade, little did they know that the effort that they give in studying was not enough for them to receive that high grade.

Contentment and Appreciation.

The secret to being content is gratitude. Realize that everything you own is a gift from God. Don’t go around begrudging others because of their blessings. Just because someone else has something bigger, better, or brighter than you, doesn’t take away what you have, nor does it make yours’ less. Appreciate what you have, be happy for others.

Chef Hasset Go

Chef Hasset Go with big brother Kuya Rowden and younger  brother Hisham Go. 

Chef Hasset Go with his big brother Rowden, who died last June 11, 2014 because of Liver Cancer. Rowden is the guy in the viral video (Watch: A Wedding That Will Move You: Rowden & Leizel), who got married inside a hospital and passed away less than 10 hours after he said his vows.

A short trivia: He took this photo recently, to show everyone that going through Cancer shouldn’t put him down and instead continue with his life and keep fighting.

Despite all the pain that he’s going through, never did he lose his faith instead it grows stronger.

Chef Hasset Go, hailed as the youngest pastry chef and also known as the “Sweets Master”.

Earlier today, while scanning my news feed on Facebook, I saw a post by When in Manila about Chef Hasset Go (Read more: The Kitchen is Now Closed: Chef Hasset Go Dies at 29 ) and decided to read about it, and to my surprise i just found myself in tears. He and his family has gone through some hell-of-a-ride, from Rowden, to him, and now his brother Hisham. Let’s pray for Hasset’s soul and for his family.

The moment that I saw his brother and sister-in-law’s wedding video got viral (that was years ago) being the usuall nosy-me, I decide to google, facebook search, instagram search, all sorts of things that I would get info about them and saw Chef Hasset’s account and all I could say was “he’s cute ha tapos he’s a chef pa. winner”, from then on his face already registered on my mind. I also saw him in some tv guesting that’s why when I saw When in Manila’s post I immediately read it, afterwards started googling info’s and found out that he was featured on Kapuso mo, Jessica Soho for a short tribute  (Watch: https://www.facebook.com/kapusomojessicasoho/videos/10153367319421026/). He is also featured on The 700 Club Asia (Watch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ErgJGR-lrnc). He remained strong despite all the hardships and trials that he’s gone through from birth up to the time that he passed away. He has work his way up to reach his dreams. He was a guys from Oriquieta City who went to Manila when he was seventeen to try his luck and luckily enough he is now a co-owner of Med Chef and the GM of Le Jardin Manila in BGC. His father did not support him on his Culinary dream, so he decided to be a working students and started selling pastries made by himself (with the help of his now business partner) and with the help of his relatives and friends in church, through his perseverance and Faith in God he was able to finish his course. Chef Hasset Go has been a good son, brother, uncle, and friend to everyone. He is very forgiving that’s why no wonder why everyone loves him.
