Ok so I wanted to talk a little bit about the whole “they will be deeply close and wounded in the future” thing bc it’s driving me insane thinking about and I need to write it down.
I love this because this is the natural progression of their relationship. They are so obsessed with each other and they fit together so well. They are the perfect balance for each other and they understand each other the way no one else can. They have the same eyes, same mind, same vision and they gravitate towards each other because of it. It’s why they can’t help but get closer, because they understand each other and not just when they play soccer. But they are also so fundamentally different that it could never end any other way than with them wounded. Because there can only be one at the end of the day. Because Kaiser can’t let go of his malice long enough to let Isagi in, because that would make him weak and vulnerable. Because Isagi is, at his core, an egoist. He will be the best striker in the world and is ultimately just using Kaiser as a stepping stone to get there.
But god they both want each other so bad. No one brings out Isagi’s demon like Kaiser. No one pushes him to be the best he can be like Kaiser. No one can match him and better him and inspire him like Kaiser. And no one makes Kaiser feel so free and loved like Isagi. No one forces him back to square one, makes him realize the flaws in his logic like Isagi. No one can rival everything that he is like Isagi.
I once saw someone say “Isagi fell in love with soccer, which made him fall in love with Kaiser. And Kaiser fell in love with Isagi, which made him fall in love with soccer.” And that’s just… so them. They complete each other in a world where that’s not allowed. In a world where the very best don’t need someone to complete them, where they have to complete themselves. So their friendship, rivalry, whatever you call it, can only ever end in heartbreak.
And god fucking damn it I love that about them. They’re like two stars that get pulled together by each other's gravity. Their collision is inevitable because they’re just so god damn intrigued by each other. But when stars collide, they don’t meld together, they explode. And it’s beautiful and takes your breath away but in the end, all that’s left are broken pieces.
Anyways sorry if that was rambly and didn’t make sense I just love them sm I needed to put my thoughts to words.
