[ When she thought of Christmas, she thought of bright lights, similar to those she saw commonly in this city. Though, Echo hadn’t a clue of what Christmas really was. She kept faint as well as vague memories toward when she was a small child and had seen a decorated tree, though, as a servant of the Nightrays, she hadn’t been allowed to celebrate. In fact, Vincent Nightray seemed to have a distaste toward the late-in-year holidays and had never celebrated it. She could not blame him for not being interested in such activities while more disturbingly invested in the well-being of his sibling. She had wondered about it however.. ]
[ She had not experienced Christmas in her lifetime. ]
[ What one was to do during the holidays was a complete mystery to her. ]
[ She did not mind, even if she thrived over her ability to over-examine all the occurrences around her, it was not necessary information for her serving her Master. She was quite fine as she was, other than toward the cold, being forced to stay in the same outfit year around. There was something strange that she had noticed this year however. Gleeful faces begun to appear, children laughing and decorating trees, couples holding hands, mistletoes. How odd. The Nightrays had never participated in such holidays, nor were they the most energetic of families. Echo was not used to seeing such.. What a proper word to describe it— Disgustingly sweet scenery? ]
[ Ah yes, it was quite disgusting. Why anybody would become so happy over a holiday was a mystery to her, and one she oddly felt she was better off not finding the truth behind. The people who seemed so cheerful were those surrounded in friends or family, small children mostly, and none of those things were related to her. She was a servant with no family, no need for friends and no longer a child. Christmas was entirely useless for her to get into the mood for. Regardless, when she’d spotted a large tree set up in the middle of town, decorated in reflective glass balls of multiple colors with a large glowing ornament on top, she found herself drawing closer to it. It brought back memories she couldn’t quite place her finger on. Ones she couldn’t exactly pinpoint, but they were warm none the less. How odd. Her hand extended to touch and grab an ornament, but stopped less than an inch short. Eyes widening a little at her own reflection. ]
“What is.. Christmas..?”
In retrospect, she could have remained inside her apartment-- but the living space felt so empty, the blue magi hardly seeing hide nor hair of her roommates. Thus, Sayaka found herself treading the snow covered streets... and she had to admit, cold weather aside, it was far more pleasant. She had a soft spot for Christmas, spanning back to her childhood, usually spending the festive time with her parents, shopping for gifts with Madoka and Hitomi... and recitals, although that was before...
She sighed, breathing some much needed warm air into her chilled hands. Even if she didn't know quite what to do with herself, it was nice to see others enjoying the festive season so much. It made the city feel more... homely, in a way, the twinkling lights reflecting off the white snow and frozen puddles in a way that seemed welcoming rather than off-putting. Of course, it would be wonderful to have someone to share the moment with-- thought, fingering the small parcel in her pockets, she decided that she was content with watching for now.
"Hm--?"
Blue eyes settled on the large tree that had been erected-- covered in shimmering and glittering decorations of all kinds, lights flicking on and off in colourful patterns as small children gathered with their parents, watching the display with the kind of awe only possessed by those of that age. It brought a smile to Sayaka's face, head tilted back as she observed the impressive display before moving back down to notice the presents scattered around the base of the tree. For show? Or did they belong to anyone? Head tilted curiously, she drew closer to get a better look before something else diverted her attention.
"Echo?"
It had been quite some time since the blue magi had seen the other girl, looking for her apartment, but she wouldn't forget her soon. As it was, she was looking rather overwhelmed, hand outstretched towards one reflective bauble. Giving the other girl a small smile, hands still in pockets, she called out again, "You okay?"
