A couple weeks ago, I attended the AIGA panel event titled “Running a Small Studio” which was held at the Museum of Art and Design at Columbus Circle.
Creative Directors and Founders from Everything Type Company, And/Or, Studio Rodrigo, and CHIPS were on the panel.
Hearing their stories made me feel comforted yet intimidated, underqualified yet accomplished, anxious yet calm. One of them even said he started his studio because he couldn’t find a job.
A few days before this, I collected a desk I found on Craigslist. The woman who sold it to me told me she started her business with it and now she was moving on to a full-time job. She was pregnant and needed a more stable income. “Different things for different points in your life,” she contended.
The idea of failure is starting to make less and less sense.
Introducing: Craigslist Roulette, brought to you in part by Brooklyn residents who are grossly dissatisfied with their apartment, life or both.

Drawing to shame myself into using my phone less 😔 and yes, I see the irony in posting this on Instagram #babysteps
Bad drawing turned thank you card. Hope she at least appreciates the message.
Most embarrassing typo moment
Slowly chewing away at my sanity. Currently somewhere between an identity crisis and complete oblivion.
Booking a weekend trip to London was probably the best worst decision I've made in a while. The automated messenger at Norwegian air didn't agree...

Do you want to to tell Google that G was already taken, or should I?
My final(ish) project for my class at SVA with Sue Walsh.
In trying to bring compassion to an environment that lacks it, I wanted to change our experience with airports, one that is typically frustrating, impersonal, and cold. To do so, I thought to propose an opportunity for each traveler to act with a sense of good will by packing an extra item which they can then donate to the country they are travelling to.
The identity itself derives from the the visual language in an airport which is utilitarian and informative. The typography and iconography are arranged in the same way travelers strategically pack their suitcases to fill every space.
The next (and biggest) challenge? Making it real.

He’s rarely on his phone. Perhaps why I take to him. He drinks his coffee, looks out the window, and every so often he’ll read the newspaper. An actual, physical newspaper you have to touch and wrestle with to reach the end. No easy scrolling through bits you don’t want to read. No links to related stories. No ads about your most recent google search. No multiple tabs to help you multitask. No music playing that would fog your reception of the news itself. He hasn’t even picked up the newspaper yet today, he’s just staring out the window at the world being pulled out from underneath the tracks, and leaving it all behind. 7:52 a.m.
All coffee is created equal.
