Heartless
justinhammertime:
Compared to Aldrich breezing past, Justin was a total mess. As soon as the call had come out, he’d sprinted as quickly as possible to get to the medical wing, grabbing as much of his prosthetic equipment as possible, even his drones grabbing supplies and stomping along behind him as the dishevelled and confused ceo ran up. “Ok, so I don’t have any medical training, but if someone’s been hurt can any of these things help?” he panted, gesturing to the artificial heart, the prosthetic limbs, the advanced robotics he’d been developing as an offshoot of his drones, his eyes looking towards Banner, “If there’s anything that needs to be customised, let me know and I’ll craft it ASAP. Please, I can help!”
Bruce shook his head as Aldrich walked away, the respect he’d once held for the other scientist now gone for good. What kind of man abandoned a helpless person to die? Basically condemned them to death? Bruce had half a mind to go after the man and talk some sense into him, but first he had to take care of the dying patient in front of him.
Bruce nodded a quick affirmative to the other man before grabbing the tech from his hand to inspect it quickly. It was a good piece, sturdy and advanced, but Bruce wasn’t sure it would be enough to hold him together long. He handed the limb back. “I think this could work as a temporary solution, but he’s really busted up in there–I can tell just from a glance. I don’t think it will be enough in the long run. Do you think you could engineer something a bit more permanent?” Bruce asked the last part a little hesitantly. He was racking his brain trying to remember the scientists name, or credentials, but his mind had gone blank. Hopefully the other man was capable of building such an complex design.
“I know for a fact he’s going to need a jaw, an arm, and possibly a leg if we don’t get the bleeding stopped soon.” Bruce said, motioning John Corben’s propped up legs. “He needs some serious internal mechanics. Think Weapon X design, but less torture.” He finished as they wheeled John towards the medical bay. He pointed to a medical assistant in a lab coat and gloves. “Make me a list of all his injuries. I need to know exactly what’s going on with him, now. The faster we get this done, the more of his body survives.”
Justin's eyes widened at the list, and he visibly had to stop himself from gagging. His mind ran though everything he had, then quickly he grabbed a case from one of the drones. "This!!" Was all he could blurt out, as he passed it to Bruce. It was an AbioCor artificial heart, a full replacement model, but even through the plastic of the casing, it was clear it wasn't entirely finished, lacking a power supply. "If he needs a heart, this is a stable, improved model! I swear, I stripped out everything and replaced it with the highest quality materials! But I.... I couldn't find a power source that'd last. You'll need to connect it to an external power source, like a....." he swallowed, awkwardly, "...like a generator or a power outlet or something, but I swear, if any of this can help, use it!" he looked towards one of the empty rooms, gesturing towards his drones who started marching down the other corridor, back the way they came, "I'm setting up shop in here, send me measurements for anything vital he needs! Arms aren't vital, though...." Justin glanced to one of the cases, his eyes narrowing slightly, "...I might have that solved in some way. Just get the patient stabilised!" He said desperately. The medical report for John was in, and passed to Banner; serious damage to the walls of his heart and weakening of the veins, plus a rupturing of the pericardium. Several broken ribs, bullets still lodged in his chest and lower left arm- chance of saving that limb with the amount of muscle and nerve damage extremely low in the 0.0%s- right eye's cornea and the lens severely damaged, and the eyeball is ruptured. Skull in tact around the jaw area, upper teeth ok aside from two fillings missing from the force of the shot that hit him, trachea still in tact, tongue showing slight signs of burn damage from the bullet but extremely serious lower face reconstruction to be done when stabilised.
