at some point in your life you will be making a sauce or a stew in which you need to add cornstarch to thicken it. and you will prepare a slurry of starch in cold water and think "this looks like way too little starch to thicken this amount of liquid." this is the devil speaking. cornstarch instantly polymerizes at 95°C and if you add too much it will turn into an impossibly thick goop.

My brother failed a class, and got a blank diploma. He would have to repeat the class over the summer. My parents threw him a party and our busybody cousin announced "no diploma, no cash" as a joke. I photocopied MY diploma from the previous year, and painted the official seal with metallic gold and school colors. It fooled everyone, even though the date was wrong.

Thirty years later I had to do it again for my dingbat of a son to fool THE SAME PEOPLE! *sigh* It's got to be the chromosome.
