“It depends on what sort of help you require.”
The AI’s voice was warm, a hint of humor decorating her words. She clasped her hands in front of her, tilting her head ever so slightly. Nyreen had told her to listen to the Commander, and to help her with whatever she needed. They were allies now, even without Aria to be the middle man. Besides, the Commander had her own AI; that meant she wouldn’t be as likely to tattle on Nyreen’s own Athena.
“I can perform a multitude of tasks, but my primary function lies in research, hacking, coding and other computer sciences. How can I help you today, Commander Shepard?”
“We’re trying to track down a particularly buggy piece of Cerberus intel. Whatever it is, they’ve got some of the scientists who worked on EDI encrypting it, and she’s having more trouble than she expected digging into it.”
Her chin tipped up somewhat. It was rare these days that she had to go outside of her crew, but the more she thought about it... if EDI trusted her, if Nyreen trusted her, then she wasn’t going to question it. The turian had been agreeable as well, considering Shepard’s part in her most recent disappearing act.
“I was hoping you might be able to help dig past it. They know too much about her for us to manage on our own.”
karalorade:
“Hey all is fair in mutually consensual love. And not so cut and dry war.” She quipped. “Would have been a lot nicer to have that bed in there before Allers arrived…”
A little amused snort, drinking her caf in turn.
“I’ll admit I’m a little jelly about that. Sometimes I just want to tell her. Not like in a ‘Hey I may have been banged where you’re standing’ way. Like a…’my ass had to make do with just a cot and a footlocker back in my day’ way.”
Of course this was in good humor, she didn’t actually harbor any ill will over something like that, surprisingly. There were more important things in Kar’s life to be petty over, a bed was not one of them.
“Will do. At that point, we’ll all be owing each other something. The galaxy will attend the largest pub crawl ever imagined…”
Aislynn snorted, bringing her cup up to her lips again as she leaned back in her chair. “I think it’s just that I can never find time, and Garrus is busy enough himself. Can’t say we haven’t mutually considered locking the door to the forward battery a few times...”
She chuckled and shook her head at the notion. They both had a lot of work to do, especially now. She was all but the face of resistance against the Reapers, and Garrus was advising his people every step of the way.
He still hadn’t answered her question about how far up the meritocracy he was these days. She was starting to think that if Victus hadn’t been found alive, Garrus may not have still been aboard the ship.
“Ah, yes, I can see it now. Every race, across the board, slowly making its way to every bar that still has liquor.” She held up her hand, palm out, before swiping it to the side as if to illustrate the massive scope of the thought. “Followed by the galaxy’s most expansive hangover. I think we could break records.”

Tali did as she was told following behind her commander and readying her weapon just in case. Her footsteps were as quiet as she could make them. She wouldn’t be surprised if some horrifying monster comprised of human and krogan appeared on the scene.
The quarian had to hold back the small laugh. “Nah, you already have enough to listen to. I don’t want to add to that pile, Shepard.”
Carefully did she try to peek from one of the openings. As far as she could tell nothing was waiting.
“I don’t see anything…yet.”
Considering everything they'd seen? That sort of thing probably wouldn't have surprised Shepard much either. She moved as quickly and lightly as a soldier could, her posture minimizing the clatter of her heavy armor.
She grinned over her shoulder as she ducked into cover, tipping her head slightly toward her quarian ally. "I appreciate that. At least I know I can count on you not to give me grief."
Sliding slowly to one side, she leaned out of cover to have a look herself. The place still looked deserted.
Unnervingly so.
"Let's not count our chickens before they're hatched. Come on, the building's just ahead."
karalorade
“You’re not the only one.” She replied, her smile growing a little lascivious. “Getting him fired up is only fun I can get that’s relatively clean.”
A soft laugh. Not getting too lewd but clear enough to hint what she meant. It wasn’t that everyone knew but they knew. But it seemed to work of the two of them, and this day and time, everyone had to have something.
“I dunno Ais’ika, I mean you could since you never know…might take one down on foot just yet. War’s not over, we got plenty of reapers to rack up…”
Aislynn, who had started to bring her mug up for another long sip, actually snorted a bit at that, ducking her head to keep from making a mess. She did laugh, though, shaking her head. "You two, I swear."
Honestly, though, it was a familiar sort of relationship, and she was used to it being "a thing." Her own "thing" had been kept on the down-low. Neither of them seemed to have any time to do anythign but work.
"If I take down a Reaper on foot, without a gun that fires thresher maws, then tell Zaeed he owes me a drink. I think by that point, I'll have definitely earned it."
She trusted EDI. Other people may not have, generally, but the AI had never turned her wrong. And when she'd gotten intel that there was someone on Omega that could help, now that the asteroid had been stablized, she'd gone there as soon as she'd had time.
That the AI was with the Talons... well, that was another interesting matter entirely.
"Sorry to interrupt. I was told you could be of some help."

Go out there and give them hell. You were born to do this.

“Things are too quiet around here. I never like it when it’s quiet. Usually means something bad is about to happen to us.”
Her guard is up, shotgun is hand. Ready to fire at a moments notice. An ambush could very well occur at any second. Or perhaps nothing. It’s hard to tell. Tali’s ready though.
“We do tend to be magnets for trouble.”
The woman gave a soft snort after that, checking the thermal clip in her pistol for a moment before casting a cautious glare around them. She didn't disagree: whenever things were quiet, that usually meant trouble.
Motioning for Tali to follow, she slid around the corner toward a gathering of fallen rocks.
"Well, once we're out of here, you can give me all the hell you want for insisting I only needed one other person on the ground for this." The smile she gave was thin and didn't reach her eyes. ""I told you so" as many times as you want, and I won't even interrupt."
Just updated something in my dossier/about section. Eliminated the identity of the Virmire Survivor to open it up a bit, so I can play with both Ash and Kaidan. (In my actual playthrough on Lynn, Kaidan was lost on Virmire, but I plan to do a playthrough soon before Andromeda comes out where he lives.)
“maybe you don’t care if you live or die.” “or maybe i’m just willing to do whatever the fuck it takes to end this goddamn war!”
Sup folks, drop me a like for a starter!

“None. Well no destroyers. Which is burning his ass.” She replied with unadulterated glee, almost like a adolescent girl gossiping with her girlfriend on some salacious information. “A few brutes now that they’re throwing them our way.”
Her grin broadened as she added, “Not bad for someone who doesn’t have the mystic space magic shit.”
His words, not hers. Haters gonna hate. And she was going to keep rocking it all the way.
“I want you to keep me posted on this whole bet you two have going. And I am being absolutely, without a doubt, 100% serious. Because it's fun to see Zaeed fired up, and the whole thing sounds hilarious."
Grinning brilliantly at that, Aislynn leaned forward with her arms folded on the table.
"I'd take part, but I summoned a thresher maw to kill a Reaper on Tuchanka. All things considered, I'm reasonably sure I can count that as one actual Reaper for me."
Hey, if any of y’all are interested in plotting, gimme an IM. I wanna do some stuff on Lynn tonight. I will reply as soon as I get back from the store. <3
“I joke that I want to retire somewhere sunny when everything is said and done, but... sometimes I wonder if I’ll still be standing then. I’m going to fight until I can’t anymore, but...”

“Eh, it happens. ‘Sides, shitty as it is now, I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”
A pause.
“Reapersbane sounds better.” She added in an afterthought. She drew a breath adding, “But we’re counting nuna before they hatch, gotta whole bunch of giant ass synths being pains in our collective shebse.”
A bit of humor returning as she adds, “And gotta at least tear apart just one more. I am not losing my bet with Massani.”
The two of them went back to even before they both got involved with the Collectors. Not surprising given both of their personalities, and professions. As to the nature of it, it was none else’s business but theirs.
“One grand if I tear apart another Reaper with the Force by the end of it. If I don’t, I gotta pay up.”
Aislynn nodded, leaning back so she could stretch her long arms. It felt like it had been a lifetime since she had just rested like this, spending quiet time with people she appreciated the company of. She hardly found time to talk to her crew, especially during brief moments of downtime like this, and when she wasn't on the bridge or in the thick of it, she was trying to catch what fretful bits of sleep she could.
This was nice. She really needed to try to do this more often.
"They've certainly got it coming." Her tone took on a bitter note, but she was still smiling. "I get the feeling no race before the ones in this cycle have fought back quite like we have. And the faster we end this, the fewer people we lose."
It already seemed like they'd lost too many. A smile cracked her features, though, at the mention of the bet, and she snorted a bit, picking up her mug.
"Oh, that sounds like a bet Zaeed would make. How many does he have down at this point?"
