saw an absolutely hilarious animal crossing theory that i now 100% accept and it’s that in the animal crossing world, humans are going extinct, and so all the animals have locked you in an elaborate zoo enclosure and are trying to give you enrichment. and that’s why they give you infinite pointless tasks, hide money in trees and rocks, invented debt that doesnt matter etc. it’s why they always act so happy to see you even after you raze the entire island, relocate their houses twice, and always act so pleased about your choices no matter what. it’s all to keep their little endangered human healthy and enriched. and thinking of it this way has genuinely improved my experience of the game

In New Horizons, the mannequins in the Able Sisters re-use the player model with a few facial features taken off, and being recolored to black. This was likely to make it easier for the developers to interchangeably place clothing on them.

Due to this, they are actually compatible with all of the game's player animations. They're just normally set to only do the mannequin-specific "animations", all of which are just a 1-frame pose. In this gif, I have swapped the poses for the Shrunk Funk Shuffle, demonstrating this quirk.

Playing with attempted eerie scenes in Harv's Photopia again (I had never done anything with Photopia before recently, and today was the day I discovered that it saves your room set ups--I figured they got erased as soon as you walked out of the room. I guess they allow you to take your time to get things just right, if you want. You, not me. I'm doing them all at once or not at all.)
