In New Horizons, prior to the 2.0 update, Wilbur had no unique character model, he was simply reusing Orville's with sunglasses and a headset added in-game.

After the 2.0 update, Wilbur was given his own unique model, complete with slightly altered eye textures to differentiate him from Orville. As you can see his eyelids are brown instead of orange, and are more relaxed by default. This detail often goes overlooked, as Wilbur tends to always wear fully opaque sunglasses.

This change was likely made due to the addition of Amiibo, as one could remove his sunglasses and headset via Photopia, which would make him look practically identical to Orville.

Good afternoon, I hope you all have been doing well.

I apologize for the sporadic amounts of content on this account, but I think I've grown content with just posting what I find interesting with Animal Crossing from time to time. I can assure you I'm still very much active in the AC scene, this account just hasn't been the focus. Nonetheless, I appreciate all of your support.

I've actually been delving into modding and 3D Modeling quite extensively for ACNH on my personal accounts and have even made a few breakthroughs. (If you know, you know) I've been jotting down some ideas for videos/content for this account as I go, it's just this year has been very eventful, both on a global and personal level, so I haven't had much time to give more focus to Triviacrossing. Things will likely pick up once the 3.0 update rolls out, but let's talk about why I'm making this post.

I've hit some really severe mental lows this year due to a longtime friend making a careless decision, and showing zero signs of remorse/attempts to remedy the situation afterward. We worked together on quite a lot of projects, they helped me get my footing in some other fandoms, and overall gave me a much clearer and positive outlook on life, but it's hard to look at anything we worked on the same way anymore after what they did, and my overall mental fortitude has been on the decline since then. I won't get too into the details, but recent events have led me to realize I need professional help, as my family also hasn't been very helpful in regards to my mental health. There's a lot of things about my mind that I have yet to understand, and I'm willing to do anything to do better for my friends.

I really do not like asking for money without anything in return, but I lack health insurance, and none of my jobs can afford it either, so I'll have to be paying for this out of pocket.

In New Horizons, there are some villagers/outfits that make special sound effects when they are moved around quickly.

Knox and Sterling are knight-themed villagers with helmets, so they make muted rattling metal sounds if you shake them around in decorate mode. The same rattling can be heard if the player or a villager is shook while wearing Iron Armor or Gold Armor.

Del, Sprocket, Cephalobot, and Ribbot are all robot-themed villagers, and they make much more distinct rattling noises when shaken around.

In New Horizons, special NPCs are often only fully modeled underneath their clothing if they swap outfits, as this would be necessary to suit various types of clothing. Though there are a few exceptions for this.

Porter, Blanca, and Rover are fully modeled underneath their outfits, and instead use separate dedicated outfit models like the other NPCs with swappable outfits, despite only having one outfit. This was likely done by the developers to save time, as they use very similar models to existing villagers, so it's likely they took the monkey/cat villager model and simply created new textures for them.

By placing Photopia on one's island, you can access areas not normally accessible in Local Multiplayer, such as the entirety of Harv's island. This has a few interesting effects:

All players will copy player 1's outfit while in Photopia, this updates in real time.

All local players cannot access their pockets, even if they are changed to the leader. The game only keeps track of Player 1's pockets.

In decorate mode, the game does not check if any players other than the one in control are present at Photopia, because of this, you can place clones of any of the 4 players with control, as demonstrated in the top two screenshots. Notice how there are 11 player characters, despite the normal limit being 8.

All NPCs on Harv's island are functional in Local Multiplayer, with the exception of Katrina, who is unable to detect you being on the other side of her table.

If the player attempts to talk to Wilbur in Local Multiplayer to go to Paradise Planning, the game will simply state that the DLC is not currently owned, and stop you from proceeding further.

In this screenshot, the DLC is active and enabled, despite this error message appearing.

Follow up from the previous post, entering Photopia from an unintended location causes some bizarre side effects:

The player will have all of their clothes removed.

The player's phone case will be colored all black.

Entering decorate mode will teleport the player to the ceiling and notably far out of bounds. This is not a softlock however, as it is possible to simply walk back in-bounds near the corners, as demonstrated in the GIF.

Leaving the room and re-entering it will fix all of the above.

Another interesting quirk with being teleported offscreen where the camera cannot reach is that the player cannot use their NookPhone or enter decorate mode if their character is not on-screen.

In New Horizons, through save editing, it is possible to place Photopia on one's island. The building is functional and enterable, although doing so will take you to Harvey's Island once you exit it.

To add onto the previous post, the developers of Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time uploaded a very New Horizons-like trailer for the game on April Fools' Day shortly before the game was released, calling it "Life Crossing: Fantasy Horizons " with a very Animal Crossing-styled logo.

This trailer features the Raccoon costume mentioned before, being donned by a character named "Tim Crook", music that is almost infringing levels of similar to the New Horizons theme, and jokingly simple animalese and dialogue boxes near the end of the video.

This video has since been removed from Level5's channel, but it's clearly just the developers cracking a few jokes at the similarities between the two games.

In the 2025 game Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time, a special Raccoon costume was given away to players for the game reaching one million sales. This costume is a bit of a cheeky reference to Tom Nook from Animal Crossing, as the game also shares a lot of mechanics and similarities to New Horizons as well.

In New Horizons, the mannequins in the Able Sisters re-use the player model with a few facial features taken off, and being recolored to black. This was likely to make it easier for the developers to interchangeably place clothing on them.

Due to this, they are actually compatible with all of the game's player animations. They're just normally set to only do the mannequin-specific "animations", all of which are just a 1-frame pose. In this gif, I have swapped the poses for the Shrunk Funk Shuffle, demonstrating this quirk.

In New Horizons, the BGM for Dodo Airlines normally plays at a reduced quality to make it sound more like it's coming from an intercom or public speaker.

Both on the Nintendo Music app and in the official soundtrack for New Horizons, there's a version of this song without the filter.

This is the Animal Crossing GameCube stationary set that was only available as a Club Nintendo reward for Japan. Comes with stickers, eight different envelopes, and three pieces of matching stationary per envelope.

Both in New Leaf and New Horizons, the autograph cards item has a notable signature in the upper middle card that can be customized between two designs.

The Musician's Signature (left) is heavily implied to be KK Slider's, while the Comedian's Signature (right) is heavily implied to be Dr. Shrunk's, as it resembles his face and this same signature can be found on the back of KK's guitar, where he has two stickers that reference past locations he's played in: The Roost and Club LOL respectively.

In New Horizons, if the player switches to their polishing outfit while wearing a "Dress-up" clothing item, the game will automatically equip a unique pair of Denim Pants as part of the polishing outfit. This variant is slightly different than the standard blue variant, and cannot be obtained as an item.
