In the macro sense of things, I’m overly detached. I think that’s because I realize there isn’t much I can do. I can’t stop wars. I can’t save dying kids. I can’t stop a person being assaulted 5000 miles from here. In the micro sense of things, I’m overly attached. I think that’s because I realize I can do something if not a lot. I can feed the homeless man. I can be kind to the waitress and leave a good tip. I can help a kid with his studies because his family is involved in other things to do so. If you walk up to me and say you need my help, I will believe you. Yes, I am fooled sometimes but at the off chance of them telling the truth I’ll take the risk of being a fool. I can hope to act locally and help globally. Everything is intricately connected and every action as well as word counts. Our world needs saving.
