I had thought about if Luffy had recruited the Strawhats in a different order and they got to see different crewmates origins/events leading up to becoming pirates, and well-
Zoro's whole first-meeting ordeal might have left a different first-impression with Sanji
Was listening to Once Upon a December and became possessed and speedran an AU in my brain of basically where Sora divorces and exiles Judge, and eventually marries Zeff. But Judge returns and this results in the whole family besides Zeff and Sanji being killed. Cue the usual plot of the movie -rolls wrist-

Oki, time to ramble about Doflamingo's near mental breakdown
There’s this scene in chapter 780 that’s always giving me pause, it’s Doflamingo’s frankly abnormal reaction to seeing “CORAZON” written on Law’s back.
You don’t even have to take my word for it on how abnormal it was.
Even Trebol, someone who at this point should’ve seen the worst of what Doffy has done was like what the fuuck.
I remember it being even more apparent in the anime. Doflamingo sounded angry, not at the aspect that Law is using the heart motif, but that’s Law was actively reminding Doflamingo of Corazon.
The memory of his brother is a ghost that’s haunting him. Which brings me to the other thing that always ticks me off. The way Doflamingo addresses Rosinante. It’s never by his name, either Corazon or a ghost.
For reference let’s looks at the last time Rosinante addressed his brother.
Even when he calls him a monster and a madman, Rosinante couldn’t shoot him because it was his brother, because he’ll always be Doffy.
But he can’t be Rosinante to Doflamingo, he has to be Corazon until the very end. Otherwise Doflamingo would have to come to terms with the fact that he killed his own brother.
A fact that Law always brings to the forefront of his mind.
He shot Law until the gun was empty, then kept pulling on the trigger. It was such a contrast to the almost methodical way he shot him the first time.
That was a performance, an education of a subordinate.
This was him laying all of the justifications for an “ancident” that should’ve been forgotten 13 years ago
He was my subordinate
He was Corazon
He betrayed me
But ghost don’t haunt people without guilt
Great analysis, though it’s always puzzled me why it took Doflamingo until the fight on top of the castle to notice.
I was gonna say cos in the One Piece Party and so on, they always stress how Corazon on Law’s jacket is written in a foreign language (to Japanese), but of course, ‘Corazon’ was the word chosen by the Donquixote Family, and Dressrosa is supposedly reminiscent of a Spanish town, so it shouldn’t be foreign lettering to Doflamingo. Plus, that’s always presented in jest. But, Law had his back to Doflamingo throughout Green Bit and I’m sure at other parts of their pretty prolonged battles throughout the Dressrosa arc. True though, Doflamingo is feral when he shoots Law here (or his body double), and static (whereas the other scenes have a lot of attack and defence, perhaps obscuring any lettering), and had Law and he had those deeper conversations (jabs) about Cora yet?
Maybe not, but Law had in defiance and spite asked Doflamingo to bring Cora back to life in exchange for the perpetual youth surgery just before Doflamingo shot him a second time (flipping him the bird and other crudities) . So, again he’s at the forefront of their confrontation. Yeah, definitely onto something OP.
If Doflamingo feelt guilty (more or less subconsciously) about killing his brother, then Law asking him to bring Rocinante back to life must have been the proverbial tipping point. Maybe, Doflamingo wished he could do that but he’s aware he cannot, and he referred to Roci as “Corazon” in an attempt to remember him not as his brother but just a traitor. I based some of my fanfics featuring these characters upon this interpretation of Doflamingo (and my theories of Roci still being alive), so this one of the topics I most love talking about regarding One Piece.

Oh my god.
I like this take. I myself think Doflamingo was very very aware he was killing his brother (anime shows his reaction better than the manga) and wasn’t detaching himself from having commited fratricide. He knows what he’s doing (killing his brother) and he is hurting while doing it. He is suffering through it. He makes a very very pained sound. He is very aware. He isn’t detaching at all. He is even bargaining through it, as though he is the victim “Why are you making me do this? Why do I have to kill another member of my real family?” as though Rosinante is making him pull the trigger. He is in some form of victim complex in that moment, I think.
But agreed on the Corazon part.
