Shaking up my schedule this week, but for only this week
Still going to be seeking out some words of power in Skyrim on Monday, but I'll be closing out the current playthrough of The Sims 4 on Wednesday. Still going to be working on a puppet on a Handcam on Thursday, and playing some Paralives on Sunday
If you want to join me, I'll be doing it over on my Twitch Channel
Once upon a time, H'karu Starr was a scout for an extra-terrestrial colony fleet. Then an incident with a delivery ship resulted in an isekai… H'karu woke up on Earth. Now, in an attempt to blend in, they stream themselves playing some video games and doing hand cams… and sometimes their horror alter shows up to host old b-movies.
You can find them on their Twitch Channel, their YouTube Channel, and their Bluesky.

So, for a little bit now, my streaming background has been a somewhat physical space, mainly photos of a tiny miniature room I made using some cardboard, cheap plastic, hot glue, acrylic paints, and parts I found online and printed with my 3d printer. And, for the last couple of weeks I've been making a new one, using the same methods. But that's only the backstory of what I done did.
During the build of my new miniature room, I started noticing some small things I wanted to change about my vtuber model. Didn't want to change anything major, just a couple of minor tweaks that probably would have been only notice by me. Then I decided to come up with a spring outfit, so I went to Booth with the idea of a crop top, jeans, and sneakers, and started searching for free clothing that would fit that.
I got the clothing, started work on the minor modifications I wanted to make it more in line with what I thought my model would wear (and to make sure the jeans didn't clip into the shoes) and decided that I should see what free hairs I could find. I downloaded a few I thought looked cute and tried them on, but none really looked good until I found this one:
Unfortunately, I had downloaded it into VRoid's "Closet" feature (which I didn't remember 'cause I don't pay attention to what is being added to it when there's an update), and couldn't test it right away... until I started working on a Summer Outfit (I was only doing that 'cause I was distracting myself from my joint pains) and noticed the "Closet" button.
So, to make a long story short (too late), I put this hair on my model, changed the colors to match the model's existing hair colors, flipped the bangs, tested it, and now I have something I that kinda resembles what my be considered a new model
Behold:
This is the new version of H'karu Starr, so far away from the original, but I likes it.
Just a normal schedule, and no channeling my inner magical girl protagonist...
Anyways, gonna play some Skyrim on Monday, work on a puppet that's needed to be finished for quite a bit now on Thursday, and workin' on my Adult Themed Entertainment Venue in the Sims 4 on Sunday
All those streams happen on Twitch, if you want to watch

So, I made a ball jointed doll of my VTuber Model. It took around 10 weeks of mostly working once a week for around 5 hours at a time on stream and a couple of days working off stream (making wefts, making the belt and pouches, getting the accessories finished, and taking photos), but it is completed, and I'm so proud of this little thing
While I can see a couple of places where it could be improved, I'm now just so excited to get the doll outside and take plenty of photos once all this snow melts and to make more dolls. This was so much fun.
Below is the original blog post of my progress with links to the files used on Thingiverse and the YouTube tutorials I used
Making my Ball-Jointed Doll
Last year while making a physical miniature to act as my background for my streams, I was looking up "Alien" on Thingiverse and found an Alien BJD (Ball Jointed Doll), and thought "Hey, that would be a cool thing to make. I could make it look like my model"
This is the progress of making the thing (All progress below the cut/fold)
Day One: Finishing The Prints (Jan 22nd, 2026)
Started by sanding the prints and cleaning them up, but I had a hip break (due to some minor filament issues), so I'm going to have to replace it
YouTube VOD
STL files I used: 1/3 ball jointed doll BJD 60cm (Arms, Legs, Abdomen), Alien BJD (Hands & Feet), Male mod for 60cm ball jointed doll BJD (Chest & Pelvis), Genshin Impact Zhongli BJD Head (Head), Elf Ear
Day Two: Painting & Starting The Wig (Jan 29th, 2026)
Filled some gaps with some Kwik Seal and painted the parts with acrylic paint and cleaned up the replacement hip (printed in Silver Silk PLA 'cause I ran out of white filament) before starting the wig cap (made on a duplicate head. not pictured)

Day Three: Stringing and Gluing Wefts (Feb 5th, 2026)
First I added some "make-up" with a bit of acrylic paint before making the eyes with some painted craft foam and gluing them in with hot glue. Then I struggled to get it all strung up with elastic cord, but I got there in the end, and I started gluing some wefts made with acrylic yarn (and a pocket comb and an iron) onto the wig cap, but I ran out of wefts, so I'll have to make some more

Day Four: Working on the Wig & Making More Wefts (Feb 12th, 2026)
I made more wefts, started gluing them on, but ran out (again), so I started to make some more
YouTube VOD
Tutorials I used: Same as Day Three
Day Five: Finishing The Wig (Feb 14th, 2026)
I didn't want to wait another week to finish the wig (I just wanted it done), so I glued on the new wefts, made some more and dried the glue with a hair dryer before finishing the wig and doing the best I could to style it
It turned out kinda floofy (probably because I had the bottom wefts too close together), so I'll have to try again with a wig at some point, but I'm thinking it looks okay at the moment
Onto making the outfit.
YouTube VOD
Tutorials I used: Same as Day Three
Day Six: Making A Pattern (Feb 19th, 2026)
Started by making a couple of antenna for the doll (because I have antenna on my model). Made them out of some scrap filament, painted them with acrylic paint, and glued them to the inside of the wig
Then I struggled with making the pattern, but I've got something that I hope will work
YouTube VOD
Tutorial's I used: Tutorial Video - Making Doll Clothes Patterns Like a Pro - Fashion Doll
Day Seven: Starting the Outfit (March 5th, 2026)
After taking a week to deal with my vertigo, I took the patterns I made last time, cut pieces from the last fabric I got from Jo-Ann's before they closed (I miss that place) and started hand-sewing the outfit together
YouTube VOD
Tutorial's I used: None this time 'cause my Aunt and Grandma taught me to sew when I was a kid
Day Eight: Dressing The Doll (March 13th, 2026)
Got most of the suit sewn up in my free time, but I did had to finish sewing the legs. Then came the stressful moment to see if it fit on the doll properly.
Yes, I did make a test, but it was still stressful getting the suit over the hands with out a very thin finger either breaking or poking through the fabric.
Afterwards, I got a couple of snaps in place (the others will go on in my free time) and I started to pattern the boots before attaching my 4-pointed star to the suit

Day Nine: Footwear (March 19th, 2026)
During my free time, I added a collar to the body suit so that it hangs better on the doll before making a test boot out of old fabric
On Streams (I ended up doing 2 so I could finish the boots this week), I made felt inserts for the boots so they would keep their shape when not on the doll before making the boots out of the same fabric I used on the upper purple portion of the body suit. Then I added some snaps to keep them fastened, but I'll probably replace those with either velcro or zippers at some point.
Then I started work on the bags using some elastic cord for the belts, but the sticky Nylon Patches I got to make the pouches out of were too thin, so it's back to the drawing board for those
YouTube VOD (Part 0ne) | YouTube VOD (Part Two)
Tutorials I used: No Tutorials for this 'cause I know how to badly hand sew stuff
Day Ten: Belt & Bags (March 21st, 2026)
This was done in my free time 'cause I didn't want to wait until my next handcam stream to work on it
Instead of just using the nylon patch to make the pouches, I used one patch along with some scrap foam (for thickness) to make the pouches before attaching them to the 1/8" elastic straps I planned to use for the belts (couldn't find small enough nylon strapping or ribbons) with some hot glue, thread, and snaps.
All that's left is painting the accessories which are currently printing (came up with a couple of different ones and scaled one down a little bit) and then I'll be done with my first BJD
No YouTube VOD 'cause I did this in my free time 'cause I just wanted to work on it some more
Once again, no tutorials used
Day Eleven: The Accessories (March 24th, 2026)
Now, since I think dolls need accessories, I figured I make some for this BJD
Took me a while to figure out what I wanted, but after some thinking (and much searching) plus some "ooooh... that might be perfect..." moments, I ended up with a Jet Pack, a Visor, a Sci-Fi Scanner, and a laptop. Then I glued on some wings and greeblies to the jet pack along with a frame (using some elastic straps as straps) and a sentai changer to the straps (controls). After that, I cut a large paper clip into a couple of bits to use as a hinge for the laptop and painted everything with some acrylic paints and took a photo
No YouTube VOD 'cause I did this in my free time 'cause I just wanted to work on it some more
