So there was talk recently about sharing art from other artists and as someone who works professionally in art for my day job, it’s so important to not re-upload art that does not belong to you unless you have permission from the artist. Preferably you would link to their portfolio or blog too.

Part of the problem is that no matter what you intended, you have taken likes, comments, and views from that artist and given them to yourself, and that is ENTIRELY disrespectful to them.

Putting the artists name is just not enough to cover yourself - you should be asking anyways, and linking if possible. Please be aware of the impact this has on artists and please ALWAYS ask permission and don’t steal.

Edit: I should note this is a broad statement. I happened to see a discussion around it and wanted to share my thoughts as a person whose entire living wage is art.

Just a reminder of Fandom etiquette, it is rude to post someone's art without their permissions. It is also disingenuous to take another artists work and use it to promote yourself/your own art or fanfiction, especially not knowing if said artist would want to be associated with the themes of said work.

If you want art to go along with your story, commission an artist or draw it yourself 👍
