Just. The mating bonds mentioned in canon are: Feyre/Rhysand, Elain/Lucien, Kallias/Vivianne, Miryam/Drakon, Rhysand's parents and Tamlin's parents. (Note how there isn't a single mating bond in a wlw or mlm relationship mentioned.)

That makes it six of these supposedly rare mating bonds. Now, six isn't that much, but there are only four relationships without a mating bond (only counting those where the partners end up together), namely Thesan/unnamed male Peregryn, Nephelle/unnamed female Seraphim, Amren/Varian and Beron/his wife (or her and Helion, depending on which relationship you count). So basically the Mating Bond : No Mating Bond ratio is 3:2. This is not what I'd call rare.

Now i found out why: they remind me of the God awful costumes on Reign, a CW show supposedly set in the 16th century.
