i don't know if i should be more horrified or impressed that you’d willingly go down that rabbit hole. i dabble in fan culture on occasion, from a more laid back, bookmarking memes and liking edits approach. think ignorance is very much bliss when it comes to the depths of parasocial fans in my opinion, although i did recently learn what the “omegaverse” entails from doing a buzzfeed interview a couple of weeks back and that was a peek behind the curtain i wasn't expecting. the dedication some fans have amaze and terrify me in equal measure. what's the wildest story you've read about yourself?

SAM: they're really working us to the bone these last couple weeks, huh? the social battery is faring pretty well now, actually. think i just needed the episode to release for the anxiety to fade. how are you feeling now that it's out there? SAM: [message read] SAM: doing it 10 minutes before the concert was indeed poor timing, but it was also a really nice distraction from the nerves of having to sing live so actually not poor timing at all. perfect timing. i don't know where we go from here either but i don't want to leave without talking about it so let's talk about it. maybe over dinner tonight? there's a nice restaurant not too far from the hotel that we could sneak off to.

JACOB: genuinely felt like it came at us all at once. 0 to 100. almost forgotten what a quiet day feels like. i’m glad it’s out there and the fans are enjoying it. suddenly got a ton of questions about louis’ leg that i couldn’t answer though, so had to find a few different ways to say “you have to wait to find out" during every interview. it was a fantastic episode, as i knew it would be. you were incredible. rolin and hannah done it again. 👏🏾 JACOB: it circling right round to perfect? you know what, i’ll take it. got a few things i need to wrap up, but i should be done in a couple of hours. meet in the lobby at 6?

SAM: sorry about that. i didn't mean to let the silence settle, but the last few days have been insane and you know how fast my social battery dies. think i just needed a night to sit with my thoughts. SAM: it was surprising but i feel good about things. really good. i'm not sure where we stand, but only because i don't want to assume things. SAM: [typing...] SAM: how do you feel?

JACOB: no sorries. c'mon, i wasn't any better in that department, and unlike you i couldn't blame a post-concert crash for the silence. how's the social battery faring after all those interviews? JACOB: yeah? fuck, sam… you don't know how happy i am to hear you say that. JACOB: my heads a little all over the place, but the last thing i want you to think is i regret it. probably not the best thing to say via text but i can't bring myself to regret kissing you even if i tried. the shitty timing, maybe. doing it 10 minutes before you hit the stage wasn't exactly my smoothest move and i would've done a few things differently if given the chance, but well.. i don't know where we go from here, if you wanna talk before we leave or take some time for yourself. whatever you choose, i can wait.

JACOB: do you want to grab a bite after the sag event? room service back at the hotel or somewhere more neutral, i don’t care. i just don’t want to leave new york on a weird note, especially not with you. JACOB: [typing…] i know we didn’t get to talk after the concert and then the onslaught of interviews the days after didn’t exactly help, but i want to know how you’re feeling. where we stand. not knowing where your head is at is not something i'm used to and it’s fucking with me more than i’d like to admit.

i have a feeling that you and the professionals will be able to pull it off by then, but i'll make sure to keep my fingers crossed anyway. how long do you have before filming starts? oh no, i had to learn the basics. think i was the only canadian that didn't know how to ice skate so it was a learning process. just thankful that we had doubles every now and then.

appreciate the good vibes you're sending my way. we don't start filming until later this year which gives me a little time to train into something resembling a semi-decent dancer.. hopefully. is ice skating something you enjoy now or do you fill with dread every time you step on the ice? we'd all be out of jobs if we had to do half of the crazy shit our characters did without our doubles holding down the forte. they don't get nearly enough praise for saving our asses on screen. what's next for you? i read somewhere about a potential scott and kip spin-off in the works and while i take everything i read on the internet with a grain of salt, it’s a theory i’m rooting for. the world needs more love stories. so, is there any chance of it becoming a reality? or should i expect the next project from you to be unrelated to hockey?

I have come to the realisation that I saw you in War Horse on stage, many moons ago. I wasn't familiar with you back then, but remember you being incredible as Billy, and the show as a whole being an absolute masterpiece. Do you have any plans to return to the stage? @jvcobasil

you know, you’re the first person in years to bring up war horse and the unexpected trip down memory lane is a fond one; though it’s making me feel fucking ancient when i remember just how long ago it was. it being in the double digits is a brutal realisation. thank you, mate. no immediate plans to return to the stage, but i’d absolutely do it again in a heartbeat if the opportunity ever arises. you’ve been in quite a few incredible stage productions over the years, like oppenheimer and romeo and juliet back to back is impressive. is there a certain play you’d like to try your hand at next? or are you more focused on screen acting?

i think i heard somewhere that you have two kids, right? i'm the kind of parent who ends up scheduling playdates for khai because playing princesses every single day gets exhausting after a while, so… what do you say? i feel like she would absolutely love having more kids around to run around with, and honestly, it might save my sanity a little too. i can only survive so many tea parties and imaginary kingdom storylines before i completely lose my mind. @jvcobasil

i got two girls, yeah. and listen, the only calls i seem to make outside of work ones are solely related to play-dates because my oldest is the only member of the family with a thriving social life so i get it. a new friend for the girls will also save me from make-up sessions that end with a brush in the eye and the inevitable moment i forget and leave the house still rocking a five year old’s “work of art” like a mad man. i’m in the states right now, but what do you say to coming over with khai when i get back? i’ll make sure the house is stacked with sweets and juice for the kids, and a couple of beers for us.

What is one thing you miss about London when you are away? Is it a food or vibe? I know for me it's the food. The food is the security blanket I will find a way to take with me even away.

my kids, first and foremost. and after that, it’s gotta be the vibes. i’m a notorious homebody, so the familiarity of london is where it’s at for me. also definitely have to agree with you on the food, nothing beats the diversity of the food you can find in london and that’s a hill i will die on. what are some of your go-to snacks you always bring with you when you go on a trip?

SAM: you know me - i'm both excited and painfully nervous. can't wait for everyone to see all the hard work that we put into this season, but i also don't care to be perceived in any way so :) good, i'm glad you're feeling good. you killed it this season. pun intended. i can admit that i was fully committed to watching game of thrones before i got the role to play in house of dragons. kind of made me jealous i didn't get to work alongside everyone in the first series. maybe i'll get that chance one day and we'll cross paths one day. i'd be all for it if you are. @jvcobasil

i have to be real with you, watching you and the cast kill it in season one gave me serious fomo and if there were any way to throw my boy grey worm into the past and have him appear in the red keep with no explanation, i would've been there. stepping into an already beloved and terrifyingly popular franchise and then blowing everyone out of the water with your portrayal of young rhaenyra was an incredible feat, love and i'd be honoured to work with you someday. hopefully the universe takes pity on us soon. what have you been up to lately? working on anything new or has promo for supergirl taken over your life?

i read that you'll be playing a ballerina for your next role and i have to admit that i'm excited. do you have any experience with ballet or is this an entirely new field for you?

no experience whatsoever so i'm praying by the time we start filming, the professionals worked their magic and i don't make a fool of myself. what about you? i know a couple of the heated rivalry guys had to do a lot of training before filming started, but was hockey something you did before the series or something you had to learn the basics of? either way, you looked like a natural on the ice.
