Bamboo-grass leaves flowing in the wind Swinging by the edge of the eaves Stars are shining Like fine gold and silver sand. (traditional Tanabata [Star Festival] song)
The pale, comforting light of the stars bursts out from some fiery hell light years away. Distance and laws of physics do a good job concealing the true nature of what we see as a handful of jewels scattered on dark velvet. No distance, however, is great enough to suppress the sentiment of affinity with the stars; after all, we are related. We are all dead stars, looking back up at the sky. Why is it so? See [here].
