‘in the Lord’, labor not in vain

What does ‘in union with the Lord mean’?

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Eph 6:1

Why shouldn’t a person grieve God’s spirit?

And do not grieve God’s holy spirit, with which you were sealed for the Day of redemption.  Eph 4:30

 How can we prove to be sons of God?

that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. Matt 5:45

Marry “only in the Lord”.

(only if they are in union with the Lord)

A wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives. But if her husband dies, she is free to be married to whom she wishes, only in the Lord. 1 Cor 7:39

Why are those who die in union with the Lord happy?

Then I heard a voice from heaven say, “Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Yes,” says the spirit, “so they may rest from their labor, because their works will follow them.” Rev 14:13

Why are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake happy?

Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to them. Matt 5:10

Who keep the commandments of God?

This demands the endurance of the holy ones; those who keep the commandments of God and their trust in Jesus. Rev 14:12

Contend earnestly for the faith that was delivered to the holy ones

Beloved, while being very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you urging you to contend earnestly for the faith that was delivered to the holy ones once for all time. Jude 3

The spirit itself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God. Rom 8:16

Present every person complete in union with Christ

We proclaim him, admonishing every man and teaching every man with all wisdom, so that we may present every man complete in Christ. Col 1:28

Who is this prophesy applied to?

For he says, “I heard you at the acceptable time, and in the day of salvation I helped you.” Look, now is the acceptable time; look, now is the day of salvation! 2 Cor 6:2

Baptism symbolises burial and resurrection

Having been buried with him in baptism, you also have been raised with him through your faith in the power of God who raised him from the dead. Col 2:12
