Mayor Bill de Blasio said NYC will sue if Donald Trump goes forward with Muslim registry

On Monday, de Blasio told the anti-hate rally audience at Cooper Union Hall that the city will sue Trump if the proposed Muslim registry database comes to fruition.

The “Muslim registry” is reportedly being talked about with Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach

It would require Muslims to register their name in a database for tracking purposes.

De Blasio, appearing with numerous influential faith and community leaders in NYC, also stood up for various communities in his remarks.

You know what I love about the old cartoon classics (W.I.T.C.H, Totally spies, Winx club)? The characters where allowed to be as girly as they wanted and still be completely kick-arse. Hay-lin and Irma could be flirty and giggly without being shown as in any way inferior to Will the tomboy. Bloom could be the keeper of the dragon flame and still worry about her hair and nails and boys. Because being girly does not automatically equal being weak.

actually all western popular culture did is reduce nazism into an aesthetic for their villains. they never really countered the ideology behind the polished boots and the lines of men in uniform, because doing so would also have to challenge white supremacy (which is a cornerstone of modern american and western european society).

as a result of this:

the threat of fascism has been played down by depicting nazis as cartoonish villains, and

the actual ideology behind fascism has survived simply by re-branding (which is what the ‘alt right’ is all about), because we now identify fascism as an aesthetic first and an ideology second.
