In 2006 the Dick Bruna House – now the Miffy Museum – was opened. In honor of this opening, the Neudeflat was decorated with Miffy ears.
All of my life, a voice has whispered softly in my ear: live, live, live! It was death.
— Jaime Sabines
wishing all my followers unexpected good news and something that restores their faith a little
you have to build the life you so desperately want btw. no one will do it for you
don't die from heat, here some fans to cool your dashboard<3
The world is violent and mercurial — it will have its way with you. We are saved only by love — love for each other and the love that we pour into the art we feel compelled to share: being a parent; being a writer; being a painter; being a friend. We live in a perpetually burning building, and what we must save from it, all the time, is love.

Just very berrybrained right now. I'm picking and eating blueberries everyday and I can never get enough! I like to imagine that every berry has a whole world in them ✨
I'm so obsessed right now that I spent a week of no sleep designing blue space berry lanterns. It's still just a prototype and needs a lot of refining, but I'm pretty happy with it so far :)
Plus the usual painting timelapse!
Last days in this house where I’ve been very happy
i love saving images onto my cell phone. it’s like picking berries
Eduard Gübelin. Ethiopia, Lalibela, 1960-1970.

The small town of Lalibela in Ethiopia is home to one of the most extraordinary sacred sites in the world. Its eleven churches were carved directly out of solid volcanic rock. This dusty, rural town only gained access to electricity relatively recently, and it still has no paved roads. Originally called Roha, the town was later named after King Lalibela of the Zagwe dynasty, who ruled the Ethiopian Empire from 1181 to 1221. During his reign, this remarkable complex of eleven churches was created. What you see in these photographs is not a group of buildings made from stone blocks. Each church was carved from a single mass of rock, with no joints, bricks, or mortar. The builders first cut a deep trench around the future church, separating it from the surrounding bedrock. They then worked from the top down, carving the exterior before gradually hollowing out the interior. Once the doors and windows had been opened, workers entered the rock itself and carved out rooms, columns, passages, and sanctuaries from within. That is why these churches are described as monolithic: each one was shaped from a single piece of stone rather than assembled from separate materials.
This method required extraordinary technical knowledge, precision, patience and skill. Even more remarkable was the vision and courage behind the idea itself. The overall concept, the architectural design, and the artistic details and ornamentation are achievements in their own right.
As archaeologists have described it:
"As one approaches, the first feeling is often confusion and disbelief, followed by a deep sense of awe before such an extraordinary achievement. It is a monument to determination, strength, perseverance, and profound faith: first in human ability, and then in something ancient, sublime, and still unknown."

I love dad rock and I always forget the kind of effortless joy it brings me now that it transcends (evades) my nostalgia
