Okayyy finally decided to just post this lol. Poem I wrote for Asakura a while ago! Sadly not as refined as my Kirihara one from a while back and this was originally an attempt at lyric writing before I remembered I don’t know how to music but. One of Asakura’s many charm points is that he writes his own mediocre poetry to send rather ominously to Towa’s email. Pondering Kimika this morning… (clean dishes spoilers, CW suicide)

Has anyone on here brought up the symbolism of him having worked as a hair stylist before? How he went into that to sorta feel important to/connected to others and changing their hair as part of his thing about “rebirth” or whatever. And how paralleling that, the game makes it a point to tell you that Shiro and Baku cut each other’s hair. Just like… something about them being together in their own little codependent world and not needing anyone else for those things, which was the one thing Kimika thought he had to offer. And also him just quitting that job he’d been passionate about before we even meet him, to do something so grim instead cleaning up after people die. And the symbolism with Kimika’s OWN hair too. Having it dyed an artificial blonde while he’s masking his depression and trying to act normal and happy. Vs his natural black hair that he goes back to in the end when he finally lets people in to see the real him. Very cool… chewing on him in my brain rn.

Whatever is going on with this guy is very interesting I want to study him. His like reverse parasocial relationship with the members of his cult where he feels accepted for even the darkest parts of himself for the first time, and relies on them for the attention and love he never got as a child. Him being so desensitized to suicide that he sees pushing his followers into it as something that is genuinely helping them. His one sided obsession with Shiro is very fun too… Kimika watching this other person be so open about his suicidal ideation and being fully accepted and loved by Baku regardless of it. And that type of connection being something Kimika yearns for but feels so out of reach to him. He relies on the validation of his cult members online for that but still feels alone without a real deep connection. And then him learning that Shiro is in hare’s nest and like… sorta projecting a mix between the relationship he has with his followers as a whole and the closer relationship with someone he’s missing all onto him. Culminating in him trying to enact a plan where they can die together. Very nice right, what fun normal activities to do with your friends! Of course I don’t think Kimika actually knows that ANY of the others in clean dishes would consider him a friend until he like figures that out after getting out of jail later. He has the thing where he sees that Baku and Shiro have each other and figures that there’s no room for other people in their lives. Or like even though Ruu definitely considers him a friend he doesn’t know that he does and thinks they’re nothing more than coworkers. I’m maybe projecting a little here but I JUST RECENTLY learned that probably a lot more people in my life than I realized have been my friends, but I didn’t know we were friends and thought I had no friends because I just assume that no one is thinking about me when I’m not around or cares as much about our relationship as I do. Little personal there sorry but- thinking about that recently made me think about how Kimika absolutely does that too and imo is very sweet in the epilogue where Kimika gets closer with Ruu as well as Baku and Shiro and realizes he has had people around him who care about him the whole time.

Y’all I really love clean dishes!! Though I dearly miss it being easily accessible in English since that main fan translation of it on youtube isn’t available currently… I did find another fan translation for the main game but! If anyone knows how to see the epilogue chapters in English now I’d love to know

Think I’ve gotten to the point that my slow damage fanart is completely unrecognizable to anyone outside of my very specific niche oops-

Finally getting into dmmd for real this time! (Noiz route spoilers!)

…does anyone possibly know of any good fix it fics for Noiz? I’ve grown very attached to him and his good end is kinda pissing me off sorry- it’s just like the opposite of what I’d like to see for a character arc from him? I mean I liked everything up UNTIL he moves back to his abusive parents and that’s framed as the “responsible” thing to do. It’s just the narrative of forgiving your abusers as the way to heal I don’t enjoy personally. Especially because it feels like Noiz couldn’t be what they wanted so they isolated and neglected him in response. And the good end is “now he CAN be what they want.” But he shouldn’t have to!! His parents don’t deserve to have that, Noiz should be able to learn to live in spite of them and make connections with others. Like I really like his relationship with Aoba! I mostly want to see Noiz learning to be in a relationship for the first time, maybe Aoba helping him to get along with others too. And Noiz learning how to be himself and still have his independance without fully shutting out others to do that. Anyway I also just feel very strongly about this because I related to Noiz’s character a lot since my parents also isolated me for most of my life, and I’m currently trying very hard to get out of that. Don’t wanna seem like I’m projecting too hard though? Like don’t get me wrong I don’t care if other people liked the ending, that’s awesome for you! I wish I could like it, I’m usually not a very negative person so I feel a little bad hating on things haha. But like I’m sure in the 15(?) years this game has existed other people have had similar feelings on it. So yeah give me fic recommendations if you have them! Or any thoughts you have about it too.

Also also I think flavor foleys new song streetcat reminds me of Noiz a lot :> I was just listening to it on loop thinking about him just now. The way that feeling pain is associated with freedom in the song is very Noiz imo! Like his physical numbness is a parallel to emotional numbness and a general disconnection from the world and other people. Which is why I do kinda like that he was cured in the end when he formed a connection with Aoba, despite random barely explained magic curing a disability for a good end not being a great trope generally. I think for Noiz though it fits pretty well with the metaphor of his condition in general so it doesn’t actually feel that out of place.
